Cancer Support Community of Greater Ann Arbor: what do users think?
Cam Vozar: Great support for people with cancer and their families
James Drewry (Jim): Good for the soul.
David Green: There has always been a great facilitator to lead the group. What a good place to share knowledge and learn something new.
Tori Tomalia: I love this place! I was skeptical about joining a support group at first, but now I look forward to going every week. The Cancer Support Community offers programs not only for the patient, but for caregivers and children as well. In addition to support groups they have exercise programs, informational sessions, and social events. I can't say enough good things about this place. I recommend it for anyone dealing with cancer.

Emmaus Health Partners: what do users think?
Drew Pikstein: Honestly is upsets me how this practice is being attacked in the negative reviews regarding the fact that they are Catholic. Did you ever wonder why they are called Emmaus? Did you notice the crucifixes on the wall while you sat in the waiting room?Yes they are a Catholic practice, just like St. Joseph Mercy Hospital is a Catholic Hospital. They also display crucifixes on the walls and have a chapel. The level of care at Emmaus is outstanding.I finally found an excellent doctor who takes time with me and cares about me as an individual. My health is her sole concern. Thank you Dr. Castillo for always taking such good care of me. And thank you Emmaus Health for always being there when I need you.
Anahita Mojahed: This is a clinic best suited for people who identify as conservative Catholic. If you do not identify as that then your health needs will not be met here. I had no idea about this (and wish I had read these reviews) prior to making an appointment. The doctor I met with was nice, but she refused to prescribe me birth control and I was made very uncomfortable by the shear about of imagery of the crucifix and the Pope that was around the office. I honestly had no idea it was even legal for health care providers to deny you of your basic health care needs.
Paul Walkowski: We started taking our grandchildren to Dr Silva G. when they were 6 & 8 years old and their mother was dying from cancer. It was a great relief to find a counselor who was a strong Christian and would not try to “cure” our children of religion, particularly because one of them was momentarily angry with God. Dr carefully worked through the grieving process with them individually, together, and in family groups. When one child chose to act out repeatedly in school, Dr Silva went to the school monthly with a parent and grandparents to observe, listen, develop a plan, and refine it until the child could relax and let go of the hurt.I was often pleasantly surprised when the doctor redirected our symptoms based concerns to root-cause based healing activities. Progress continues with peaks, valleys, and plateaus because the patients are real people; as they mature they become more verbal and are able to discuss things they didn’t have words for initially. We are grateful for Dr. Silvas persistence and and great breadth of insight.
mariam breed: Thorough, respectful, prompt, complete, ethical care.
Elisabeth Struve: I had a potentially urgent medical issue arise. The office fit me in to the doctors busy schedule so I could have a same day appointment. After going to the ER, the doctor called me and followed up the next day. Super amazing office!
Sheila Anderson: I saw Dr.Waclawik today as a new patient and came away feeling much better than when I went in.He listened carefully and addressed each of my concerns with an honest, professional approach. He is caring and knowledgeable speaking in terms I understand and agree with.I left with answers, a treatment plan, and a follow up to track my progression.I would totally recommend him. The staff is super nice too!
Jane: I have had procedures performed and prescriptions encouraged by other doctors that in my opinion were harmful. I really appreciate the approach of the Doctors and Nurses at Emmaus Health. I trust them.
Meghan Taylor: I had to call Dr. ______after hours on Labor Day weekend. I’ve been a relatively low-key patient for at least a year due to my husband being in CRNA school with the typical up-tick being a new mom. He was very nice on the phone and took my call seriously. However, the second time I called he was chewing… it sounded to be like Chex cereal. I’d recommend Cinnamon Toast Crunch:) At the end of the call right before he hung up he told me he’d be billing my insurance for the call…. I’m well aware insurance is billed for after-hour calls. That’s why I try not to make them. If the office wants to generously not charge that is extremely kind, but I never expect it. If you want to make sure the patient knows that they’re going to be billed for after-hour calls it should be in the automated phone answering system during after hours. The end of a call with a patient should be subjective in nature and involve the words “I hope you feel better soon,” -bedside manner-, not “this is going to cost you” when I already know it is.
A Taylor: Waited in the office 45 minutes for my appointment before walking out. No update, apologies, or explanation for why there was such a delay. The office is religious (catholic), fine but me. But they do not prescribe birth control, and do not advertise that they are a religious practice. Sneaky, sneaky.
Chelsea Piner: If you are a Catholic practice as you were obligated to inform me during my first appointment perhaps you should make that clear before people waste their time. I wanted healthcare not your opinion and restriction on the planning of my family. The front desk informed me that while they themselves will not prescribe birth control they can refer you to someone that does. I am well aware how to get birth control so that is not my issue. I didn't even want a prescription as I just had a baby and am nursing but to say the least I found it very inappropriate and unethical. The Dr. was rude and condescending when I declined his offer of "spiritual guidance" that took me by complete surprise. His attitude was dismissive of my concerns about my care. Perhaps it was his obvious "little man" complex.
TK W: Great Catholic values abd6good doctors but the level of medical care/philosophy is woefully lacking. I tend not to visit a doctor's office unless it's serious, yet each time I have gone, the doctors at Emmaus have talked me down from recieving prescription medicine...it's like they don't believe in modern medicine.... Twice now, I ended up in ER following a visit to Emmaus Health where I recieved nothing but assurances and a pat on the back. I'm committed to my Catholic faith and the Church but not to BAD medicine!
Sarah Rouan: I saw Dr. Steve Hickner for a consult and was blown away by his attention to detail. He spent an hour and a half with me, patiently answering every single question and reviewing my extensive medical history. He did an ultrasound and pelvic exam with great gentleness and respect, explaining every step of the process and what he saw on the ultrasound. The office staff was wonderful and put me at ease during a very stressful time for me. The office space is lovely and very peaceful. I’ve scheduled endometriosis surgery with him in April and have total faith in his ability. I recommend him to anyone who is struggling with suspected or diagnosed endometriosis.
Liz Muller: The doctors at Emmaus are incredibly professional, capable, and helpful. I've felt very well cared for over the years, and would not hesitate to recommend any doctor in their practice. In particular, I've worked with Dr. Chavey and Dr. Hickner closely, and have received expert and compassionate care. I've also brought my kids to Emmaus on several occasions to different practitioners, and they've all been fantastic. The practice got me into the clinic same day when I came down with the flu, and Dr. Castillo saved my life :) with some incredibly helpful medications to get me over the worst of it. On a more serious note, when I had an emergency abroad, Dr. Chavey took the time to call me and ensure I was totally secure in my care, and further took the time to connect me to his colleague for an additional consult. He didn't have to do that; he's just a great doctor. Highly recommend the practice!
Awanti Sambarey: Dr. Jennifer Castillo is one of the best doctors I have ever been to - she is extremely thorough, patient and compassionate, and does not dismiss any concerns, no matter how trivial they may seem. The staff at Emmaus are friendly and the scheduling of appointments is very fast and easy. Definitely recommend Emmaus Health!
Colette Simkins: Dr Castillo and staff are very attentive, affirming and thorough. I've never been to a dr before where I havent felt like a "number" the Dr and staff at Emmaus Health treated me as a person taking the time necessary to treat me♡
Abdulla Maiah: Great doctors! Excellent service & care!
Roxanna Youngs: Always helpful when I call there. Referral to there are quickly processed and scheduled.
trish Schaefer: This practice is the most patient friendly medical clinic in Michigan. Dr Chavey is patient and kind and 100 per cent dedicated to you as a patient. Dr Castillo freely gives of her time when an emergency and love her knowledge. I feel blessed to call this my doctors office.
L Firn: Emmaus Health has excellent doctors and their staff are very friendly.
cv houston: I went to Dr. Castillo for the first time today, she took more than an hour getting to know me and my medical history; she's so thorough and so personable. The staff there are very professional and wonderful and accommodating. I was able to get an new patient appointment within 1-2 week, which is really ideal. Highly recommend this place.

Arbor Hospice: what do users think?
Ben Cowan: I was blown away with the care my wife received on her last few days. The nurses helped us tremendously through the awful process of losing a loved one. They have an extremely tough job and execute flawlessly.
Joseph Harburg: I cannot say anything but good things about Arbor Hospice. They went above and beyond to give my mom the best treatment at her end stages of life. Not only did they provide top of the line support via equipment and training, the staff were extremely kind and helpful to us supporting family members. The multitude of services and wonderful staff that worked with us was amazing. The one specific thing that I can say was exceptional was the 24/7 phone and video support that really was 24/7. Arbor Hospice even helped us with grief counseling after my mom had passed.
Janice Mazzaro: Wonderful and caring experience for both my mom in 2004 and my brother in 2020 and my dad in 2021.
Aqilah Chisolm: The most rewarding and honorable job I have ever had. Working at Arbor Hospice Residence. I will not want to ever work another job. Unfortunately, I have to work. I love Arbor Hospice Residence, and my coworkers.
Samantha Greene: Beware of Arbor hospice, uncaring, unprofessional. Rude
Anita DeMoulpied: I will never recommend this place to anyone else my dad is stage 4 liver cancer there was one nurse that would never order his meds she always said she forgot to hit the send button and instead of talking to his family first she told him he was going to die soon so that put him in a depression he won't eat or sleep a new nurse was supposed to come today 3/31 /22 haven't heard anything from them sense Monday
Eden Buell: Terrible experience, even after speaking with a ton of management about my concerns. Wish they would stop contacting my family. As a patient you have options, and there are better hospice services. Make sure your loved ones are truly cared for, because that will haunt you forever!
Donna Janke: My family had a wonderful experience. Staff was caring and compassionate. They answered all our questions. My Dad was calm and peaceful in their care. Going with Arbor Hospice was the best decision we made. As soon as they took over we were able to focus on saying goodbye and letting our Dad go with happy memories. Thank you !
Michele Perry: My dog got better care at the vet being put down than they gave my mother. Nurses were no show, and they were rude when mom was passing. Would never use this company again. They were horrible!
Stephanie Satchwell: Nothing but positive things to say. Our family thanks you all from the bottom of our hearts.
John Bain: I was having a hard time getting a live voice on the phone to address our concerns. The reps of Arbor were available, got there fast, and provided top notch service during a very difficult period for our family. They could not have done a better job.
jan jasper: My mother received wonderful care here for the last week of her life. Highly recommended.
jennifer doty: Best thing that happened during my Mom's last year.
Aminah Johnson: My dad received excellent care at home & eventually in-patient hospice for 4 months. On one occasion at home he was dissatisfied with the care he received from an aide. Another aide was assigned promptly. The nurses & aides cared for my father in a loving & respectful manner. I'm sorry that I didn't write this review earlier. I came to the website to obtain information for a friend in order to obtain care for her mother.
Anne Marie: Amazing and caring group of people.
D. Yarrow Halstead (Yarrow): We were saddened by the lack of care received. Not only was she ignored, her family was never communicated to, or helped to prepare for her death. Very, very disappointing
C. M. Vitti: This review dates back to 2012. I had originally posted a review on another website, but for some reason, it no longer posted. I used Arbor Hospice for my mother's in-home care and during her last month in an assisted living facility. She received prompt and adequate care at home. However, once she moved to the assisted living, it became more difficult to get in touch with the staff, receive return calls, answers to questions and receive equipment needed. I was very dismayed by this. While in her final days in the hospital, I again received conflicting information as to what was covered by insurance and what wasn't covered. But the most disheartening moment was when my mother passed away. I heard from no one at Arbor Hospice. No phone call, no card, no note, no flowers.......nothing. They knew of her passing. I contacted them. After apologizing to me, I was told that the problem was with Medicare...?... They made it seem as though they no longer had our records so therefore, they did not have any contact information. Very shameful, detestable and hurtful. I will never forget this.
日比高志: す素晴らしいホスピス
Phyllis Herrick: This company was awful, so many things that they dropped the ball on, first they were supposed to have a nurse meet me when my mother was brought home from the hospital, after 2 hours when they didn't show up, I called them, oooops a schedule error, ok, I asked for help to help with the personal care, an aide showed handed me 2 packets of wipes and sped off. In the end they were supposed to take all the medications away, the dips**t nurse leaves everything on the counter and speeds off. If you value the last days to take care of and spend with your loved one go to another Hospice this company totally screwed up the last few days I had with my mother. May they burn and rot in whatever hells may be. The company and it's employees are incompetent fools and total morons.

SafeHouse Center: what do users think?
Djehuty Mes: There services are seriously biased! But our society doesn't recognize men being victims! So it only makes perfect sense why they don't assist men from their perpetrators! Their mission and vision are surely lies! Their services are only for women spite what their mission and vision for abuse victims state on the home page! It's really sad in a sad pathetic sort of way that they feel it's ok for men to be abused but not women?! That nullifies their open ended mission spoken generally as if they assist women and men of abusive partners! Unfortunately that is the farthest thing from the reality of this establishment/non-profit organization. It's sad to see our society come to this level of audacity! They say men can get victimized but not women?! It's what it is I'm guessing!🇩🇪
Jada McGowan: Person answering phone was rude ,not suitable to someone's needs calling in for a situation which isn't pleasant
De'Shanel Phelps: Wish they hired people who actually care about helping others instead of selling them dreams. Overall I did majority of the things myself which I should have anyways but my advocate was terrible and she Definitely has a lying problem. I asked to switch advocates they wouldn't. She never met with me weekly and I felt as if she didnt care about my needs. She'd schedule to do something with me then just bail on me and act like everything is cool. I just got my apartment and I asked my advocate to help me get furniture and she told me she was too busy! She hasn't helped me with anything she helped me with one major thing that was it a bill other than that she sucked at giving resources and helping. They need to hire people who aren't rude and disrespectful this is a domestic violence shelter they don't know our situation or anything but got the nerve to be rude.
splatlandz: the people who run this place are TERRIBLE people. you guys throw women in a DITCH when they call the poilce. you guys also take hundreds of thousands of dollars of food and dont give it to the people there. you force people to buy their own food. you are all horrible. you traumitized me and so many other people. i hope this place gets shut down.
Megan Murphy: I was here 7 years ago and was in a horrible situation. I was very fortunate to be there. Thank you for your help.
Kimberlee Beydoun: Excellent !!
Kathleen Martin: A great place that helps people experiencing domestic violence.
Audrion Patterson: Alot of restrictions, this place gave me a piece of mind. Thank you !
Jennifer Kline: Very helpful and professional
Marta Dabis: Wish their PR could reach more people when they need safety and support.
Daniela Bartels: They do not accept donated used baby clothes and gear. They only accept new items per health code regulations. I find that very ridiculous. I didn't want good quality items to be re-sold but they told me to go to a thrift store to get rid of the items. Sad
Timothy Toth: Thank you for being there at my time of need your very kind it was a great experience hoping to return in the future
Birdy X: This is a wonderful and peaceful atmosphere for people that are escaping abuse,P.s. remember this shelter is only for short term safety potection and not gaurteened long term parnment housing (assistance). This place is smooth, relaxing, and a peace of mind
Kennethia Hoyle: This is an amazing place, I learned so much and grew a lot, after going through a really hard time with my Assailant and a car accident, I think coming here was the best decision I made, the staff was amazing and the best, they made me feel so welcome, even though I was scared at first, I made some lifelong friends and learned so much, The therapy was great too, this whole place is all around amazing, I’m never going to forget the hospitality , thank you Brianna, Trudy , Kaylin , Arianna , Ulga , Angel , And so many more I can’t spell all the names but you know who you are , Thank you for being there for me and helping me grow.
Erine Marie: Amazing staff!
Lakeisha Newman: I would of gave five stars but the advocate ola didnt help me. She lied on me then on top of that they put me out four days before my due date. (Yes Im nine months pregnant)
Monika Sacks: Safe House provides essential community services in education, prevention of domestic violence and supporting victims and their children.
Tiffany Marra: Great organization, serving families in need.
Krystel Varner: This place should be to help women who are hurt and you guys have a women in there now who should not even be in there she ain't being hurt and she lied to get in there. Do research before just letting any one in there
Sara Riggs: I wanted to get some information and I cannot talk openly on the phone for Im sure obvious reasons. I asked about an email or an online chatting support person? That would be helpful because I coukld really use the help with the situation I am in.
Keasha LeClear-Morse: Very disappointed in SafeHouse Center in Ann Arbor, Mi once again. I do have to say that when I was going through my divorce, they helped me incredibly, especially the support group, and the legal advocate program. However, because of my disabilities, I was unable to stay there long-term and had to stay at the Red Roof Inn - they do not accommodate people with disabilities well. Last year, I tried to volunteer with them and found that they do not work well with disabled volunteers, either. I made some suggestions, but they were not open to them. Finally, assuming I might move that winter, I let it go. I applied once again this year and after discussing with them options again that would accommodate my disabilities, they turned me down with regrets that they were unable to work around my disabilities. Now...I don't have extreme disabilities, it's not hard to accommodate me...and I made suggestions, I was even going to donate accessible hardware to them. But alas, they do not embrace able-ism, which is a shame. Being turned down as a volunteer because I have a few minor special needs? Not cool for a non-profit organization. I am an intelligent, compassionate, loving, experienced, valuable person...they are missing out big time. I'm very sad that I cannot reach out to the people that could use my help due to a few minor disability issues.
