Grand Lofts: what do users think?
Perry Columbus: This place is ran by a slumlord. It presents nicely but I had to withold rent to get them to fix the heat so they took me to court then stopped me last minute before going in and said they would fix it then never did. I ended up taking a loss and just moving out as it was freezing all winter. That was about 5 years ago. Just found out a week ago from a friend involved through the city that the exact same thing is still happening.
Peep Pruitt: very nice and clean
D: Cina has been nothing short of amazing as a building manager. The building has improved by ten fold since she has been at the helm. I am a long term resident since 2015 and have witnessed the progress. Hopefully she never leaves and it continues to get even better.
DeMarco Johnston: I’ve lived here for several years and management has always been accommodating and made up for any issues with leaks. I’ve watched the community evolve into a place I’m proud to call home. Cina, the current office manager, truly cares for her tenants and goes above and beyond to help me out.
Sheeplife: Cina, the building manager, is an angel and has made my experience staying at the lofts worth while. I moved into my beautiful loft at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic and was able to be a part of the welcoming creative community that inhabit the Grand lofts. Maintenance staff is prompt and trustworthy. As long as Cina is managing this building I highly recommend calling this place home as she really cares about all of tenants she services.
Indigo Codyn: I chose these lofts cause they seemed bohemian. We lived here for several months and never had a lock on the outside door the entire time. Plus, we didn’t have a fridge til my bf at the time did a drug deal with the maintenance man 😂
Dianna Hirmiz: I have been staying here for over a year and I have to say that Cina is the best. She’s always on time when it comes to maintenance and safety. She’s about her business but at the same time very genuine. Ever since she started working here I’ve seen this place change and get up to par. Thank you Cina
Chip Mezo: When I live at Grand Lofts we not only had horrible maintenance support but our apartment was literally infested with mice. When I went to management their response was "We will send someone down to take care of it." Not only did this not happen for over 6 weeks but the problem only got worse. We started setting out traps and every single day we would catch at least 3-4 mice. I went to the office and stated that this was unacceptable and that the problem needed to be taken care of. When maintenance did finally come down they brought black sticky paper to which I said "This is not the answer" and in response maintenance told me "You should just get a cat". Needless to say we put in our 30 days notice to move. When moving packing to move I grabbed a bathroom rug (brand new) that was rolled up in the closet and 20 mice came scurrying out of the middle of it.To say this place is a dump is an understatement, however when I vacated I left the apartment immaculate and part of me was hoping that no one else would have to put up with the unsanitary conditions that we did.
Clay Stroud: Poor mairnence Poor management nothing is up-to-date on inspections for the city. Gas and water leaks in basement and units throughout the building.
Natasha: Customer service & general communication skills is horrible... I scheduled an appointment over the phone ( his communication skills was like he did not care), then I went to Grand Lofts to take a tour of the of the "available units"... Wasted gas to visit the units, that was not even available... They should have told me there was at least a waiting list, or etc.
B Ridley: This was my first place & when I tell you I would NOT recommend to anyone, I mean I wouldn't even want my worst enemy to live like this. I was pushed to move into a place immediately back in January & with this being my first time on my own, I lacked the knowledge in what to look for, what types of questions to ask, etc. For starters, when I initially came in to look at open places, they immediately gave me two lofts to choose from. The first one was on the first floor & I was overall satisfied with the layout. The second loft, on the second floor seemed as though no one had occupied it in quite some time, had old appliances & was very dirty with mirrors missing in the bathroom etc. I told them the date I was ready to move in & they said they would have it ready. Long story short when it came time to move in they told me they forgot to hold the first unit for me&that I had to move into the second one. Which was NOT cleaned nor did I get the switch out of appliances as they promised. Keep in mind I NEEDED a place to stay. The maintenance half way painted the place leaving portions of the wall closer to the ceiling undone, both of my bathrooms have leaked, each time I ask something of maintenance it NEVER gets done, I can hear literally every conversation the people above and below me have but these are not the things that sent me over the top. The people living above me initially moved out & new ppl came in. My bedroom is directly below their kitchen; the ceilings are wooden planks. I guess they forgot to take the trash out and as I was laying in the bed one night MAGGOTS started falling from the ceiling. I kid you not. I've been living here a total of six months and I have finally found another place to give this one my 30 day notice. Even though this seems like a lot, the list doesn't end there but I'll leave that story for another review. If you are looking into this place, let me be the first to tell you to run now. Don't look back either.
Chyna West: Where do I begin. Staff. Horrible. Unprofessional, unorganized, liars. They lose work orders, lied about the elevator working. Parking lot. Gate. Works when it wants to. Have to pay a $75 fee for the remote. Pot hole filled parking lot, hope you don't like your struts. Maintainence. Flirts with all women, if you don't play nice, it reflects in your service. There are favorites. The lofts. Cheap and very thin walls. You can smell your neighbors soap in the morning while they shower. That's how thin the walls are. Everyone smokes weed apparently. Your home will always reek of it. You can only have dogs on the first floor but people have dogs on any floor. Remember, favorites. Most importantly, the sealing leaks everytime it rains and they could care less. Get renters insurance or a good lawyer. This place sucks ass. Worst decision I ever made in my life. Over priced and just horrible!!!!!!!
Desmond Jackson: Viewing review: I am moving here very soon and I can definitely say I was overall impressed with the process and customer service. When I first Google mapped and read the different reviews I was a little skeptical, however, when I actually went to the site it added a little comfort knowing that all entrances come from inside the gate boundaries and that the gate actually works. (literally had to wait to be let in.)The two managers that were currently working there (I'll just call them "C and E") were very patient, willing to answer the questions they knew, and show me all units they had available within my price range. I was disappointed that they did not have square footage on hand or floor plans but as a trade off the spaces were nicely sized, bi-level, and most had 1.5 half bathrooms while some had 2.On a the cons end, the floors and walls are quite thin. As I sat and attempted to draw a floor plan of the place I was interested, I faintly heard the alarm clock of the tenant downstairs which it was not that much of a nuisance but if I was able to hear that I can only imagine how well voices project. The first floor lofts have side door entry into the loft in which the "C" explained that the first floor tenant have some sort of a "unity agreement." The bright side to that is you can request a deadbolt lock if you want. The building does not have an elevator so if you choose the units on upper floors, be prepared. My above all con that affected me most is cable/internet provider section. Comcast does not service the area, satellite internet is not a good option although there are a lot of dish users there, and based on asking a resident there he stated that ATT works and that it is "ok."Overall, Grand Lofts appears to be a good choice for the trade offs you make. I will be sure to make a review for the first month and, if applicable, first year I stay there.Hopefully this honest review helps open or close the door for you!TL;DR versionPros:-GATED perimeter with working electronic entrance and cameras watching the parking lot-Roomy lofts with decent view-Bi-level-Well taken care of interiorCons-Thin walls-Location is kind of shifty-No elevator-Provider choices (No U-verse or Xfinity)
Jessy B: Let's Start with the good news since the bad news is going to take awhile:Pros: You get a nice split level loftCons: -The craftsmanship is cheap and faulty.-The management is not computerized or organized and if you have a problem you better be on them THAT day because they won't remember who you are, what apartment you live in and/or what you problems are.-Maintenance is useless.-They make you sign a contract saying that you'll be kicked out for the use of marijuana/loud music but if the neighbours do it there won't be any action taken against them. As a matter of fact they will protect the neighbours claiming they have a "green card" and have to smoke that stuff.-If you need a mailbox key, get a PO Box.-it's very drafty and the heat bill is high-If your apartment needs to be cleaned and readied to move in, look for another apartment because they'll move you in after half the month is past and not pro-rate it.-the management staff doesn't know how to do their job-people will have sex in your apartment while you're not there-the lacking don't get fired-makes detroit look bad because they cut corners and let anybody stay there without any standardsAnd basically you should just not move into Grand Lofts and word on the street is that Boydell is just a bad company in general. They got an F on the BBB website. AVOID!!!!

Lofts at New Amsterdam: what do users think?
Adam Janower: I've lived here for 5 years, and I'm about to sign on another. The apartment is updated, modern, and stylish. The tall ceilings made great space while I was stuck indoors so much during the pandemic. The maintenance staff are really incredible. They address issues really promptly, they communicate well, and they do a good job. Jonna Co did a great job finding these individuals. They've helped us with A/C, plumbing, and electrical over the years.Administration has been easy to deal with. We pay rent online, and each year, we exchange friendly emails about renewing the lease. They make really reasonable yearly rent increases, especially compared with the area.Great neighborhood. It's very quiet in the immediate vicinity, and I can walk to a number of restaurants and coffeeshops. Also, this is pretty much the only neighborhood that the QLine makes a lot of sense for, as it takes me directly to downtown. There's also a lot of bus lines nearby; I take the 4 and 16 regularly.I would recommend these Lofts.
Andrew Gasiorowski: Renewing our lease was an easy choice. Our experience over the last year is outstanding. The unit is well equipped and cool. The location is neat. Each interaction with a professional in every business area is friendly and efficient. There are so many positive things to say about New Amsterdam and Jonna. Impressively there is nothing bad to say.Our single favorite feature is how quiet it is. We never hear our neighbors. All thanks to these thick walls!Well done!
Aaron Smith: Really have enjoyed my experience so far at these amazing lofts! Great location and what an amazing building. Being a huge Pistons fan it's awesome being right next door to their practice facility. Also, huge thank you to Corina for showing me several units the same day with an already crammed schedule. Even answering questions on the weekend or after hours when she did not have too. She was extremely responsive and professional.Revised: After living here a few months some negatives. The appliances are outdated and the dryer takes forever to dry. Also, electricity in some outlets in the kitchen go out frequently. Response time to handle these issues isn't the greatest.
Matt Weddon: New Amsterdam has been a fantastic place to live. When a maintenance issue popped up that prompted us to consider moving from the apartment we loved, a team of people in management jumped into action, working closely with us and going above and far beyond what was required to come up with a solution everyone was happy with. The space is beautiful, comfortable, peaceful, and in an awesome part of Detroit with quick access to I-94 and the Lodge. Parking is easy and secure.Corina has been a pleasure to work with, as well as Chuck in maintenance. A huge thank you goes to Chris and Jeanette for going out of their way to help!
Jeren Wong: I lived here 3 years and my experience was great. The place was nice as far as large windows and open floor plan. The staff were accommodating and friendly. Free parking was a huge amenity even though they had the option to pay for parking I never needed it. Work maintenance is addressed immediately.
Robert Ash: This building is in a great location and is very impressive for the price. Throughout my entire search for an apartment in the Detroit area the staff here, especially Corina, was the most helpful. I’m happy to have been able to get the apartment I wanted for a price that worked for me. Thanks New Amsterdam!
Ben McNea: I’ll kick this off by saying I don’t usually write reviews about anything, but with this whole pandemic issue I felt I should speak up about how amazing Corina has been with the whole application and rental process. My roommate and I were deciding between quite a few places in the Midtown Detroit area, but this one was (by FAR) the nicest and most welcoming apartment compared to all the others. Definitely the best value for the price range we were looking at! We were pretty new to the whole process and Corina was extremely understanding and helped us every step of the way. There were a couple very tempting offers from other landlords and companies, but the fact that we were treated so well by Corina definitely swayed us in the direction of these lofts. We would absolutely recommend this building, and if you can, definitely ask for Corina!
Sebastian Hoak: If you're looking for a nice, clean, beautiful loft at a good price then look no further. The units are open, bright, and well maintained. Additionally, the thick brick walls essentially make the units sound proof and the location feels super safe with Wayne State police, Henry Ford police and the Detroit police all patrolling the area! At first, I was worried about living here when I saw the old reviews but things are definitely different here now. Maintenance will definitely get to you asap especially with emergencies but will understandably delay things like a dripping faucet for a few days to ensure the bigger issues are solved first. Corina (the leasing agent), is kind, hardworking, and will make sure things are done promptly. Chuck from maintenance shows up early the next day to resolve most issues. And finally Jeanette who works for Jonna (the company that owns these lofts) is absolutely incredible. She's willing to hear your issues out and works with you to find the best solution if there is an on-going issue. I have lived in 8 apartments in 4 different cities and this is by far my favorite. I'm sure you'll like it too.
Official Ben Sharkey Fan Club "singer and big talent": I really love the space, the location is very central to major highways so it’s easy to get anywhere in metro Detroit from the lofts at new Amsterdam. It has been a pleasant experience from the beginning. Corina was very thorough with showing me all the special qualities of the building as well as the hidden gems in the neighborhood. She was very prompt with helping with the lease and my move into the lofts. I love the online ticket feature, I had a small little issue and it was taken care of immediately by Chuck the maintenance guy. And I haven’t had any issues since. I just signed another year lease! I love my home.
Sunjot Bhullar: Great experience. Corina was super communicable throughout the entire process from start to finish.
Hana Pauline: Completely unprofessional and negligent management. Would not recommend dealing with these people.
Mangesh Mandlik: Great place to stay. Safe and peaceful.
Ramit Singla: Its a safe and nice building.

Milwaukee Park Lofts: what do users think?
Rodrico Grazes: The worse place I’ve ever lived. No heat, no maintenance, no ground keepers. DO NOT MOVE HERE
Kevin Foster: Great location in town; especially for cyclists. There's an underground music venue and a speakeasy right there. The building is old and cool, but there are rats and it gets nasty. The manager and most tenants are cool, but you can hear EVERYTHING. They say no parties but there are a few AirBnB's in some units, which is annoying regardless, because of the previous issue I mentioned. I enjoyed my time there but it was definitely time to leave. The gate is always broken, craters in the parking lot, and you can hear the "Sunday Funday" crowd every weekend across from the GM plant down the street. It's safe because it's tucked away, but if there is ever a fire, it will burn to the ground in minutes. The fire alarm would randomly, but somewhat regularly (and most importantly FALSELY) go off in the middle of the night and stay on for up to an hour.
Damani G: This place is great if you love noise and constant issues within the apartment. Nothing ever gets fixed, its way overpriced.
don't play: tragic. they should knock this building down to avoid abt further issues
Steven Kukuk: The biggest Greek tragedy since Oedipus Rex.
T L: I love living here. The building isn’t perfect, but I couldn’t be happier about my loft. I’m on the third floor. The building manager is cool.
Alec Higgins: Love it here. The property manager is awesome, she takes care of everything.Rugged industrial loft in a historic industrial area of Detroit.Know what you're getting yourself into though. Neighborhood is not the best, and the freight trains rolling in at 5am are not quiet. If you're coming in with unrealistic expectations you might not appreciate how cool this place really is.This is not Royal Oak, this is the Milwaukee Junction.
Jay Vinchi: I've lived here and it's been great. All the people are cool and kind to eachother, it's a cheap affordable place to live that gives you a cool personal space you can literally do anything with. Great place for independent creative people. GET a loft on the 3rd floor and you will not be dealing with bugs and annoying things like that.

Graphic Arts Lofts: what do users think?
Steven Moss: great
Bilal Murtaza: I mean where do I begin? In desperate need of an apartment I scoured the internet to find an apartment, but alas to no avail, that is until I came across a listing for the Graphic Arts lofts. After sending an email that night, I received a reply that following morning from someone by the name of Corina. She wasted no time grabbing my contact information and finding out exactly what I was looking for. Not only did she show me that unit in the listing, but she made sure to go above and beyond and find any unit that could fit what I needed. She set up appointment, cleared space in her very busy schedule (accommodating my extremely busy schedule), and remained patient with my delayed response times. I have toured quite a few apartments, with Corina, as well as, other realtors in Detroit, and I have to say that she as easily the most amazing person I have had the pleasure of meeting. She does her job especially well, bringing her personable skills, and knowledge of the Detroit area, to help ensure that anyone working with her walks out with exactly what they're looking for. If she didn't do such an excellent job, I would not have found this amazing apartment, and the enjoyed this past year so thoroughly. Again, just an absolutely fantastic person, and an amazing loft.
