Todd Smithee: I recently moved my business accounts to Mercantile as the service level of my last bank (of 18 years) steadily declined. I can’t begin to express how pleased I am with my decision. I can now speak with a human, have calls returned, and know that I won’t be charged “hidden fees". The branch manager, Eric Wakeman, ensured an easy transition and was in communication with me every step of the way. He also walked me through the PPP process and continues to keep me updated with changes to the program.I can’t say enough good things about my experience with Mercantile. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a bank that actually cares about its customers.

Michael Lynn: Daniel Cavanaugh at Mercantile Bank treated my wife and I horribly in regards to our mortgage. Dan and his supervisor repeated spoke down to her, belittled her intelligence, and did not follow-through on what they said they would do. At every step, Dan made the mortgage process as confusing as possible hiding behind fine print rather than direct communication. Based on my experience, Mercantile Bank does not work to serve their customers, talks down to women, and isn't a bank that I would suggest to anyone.We currently are selling our house and one of reasons we are selling our property is because we hate having a mortgage with Mercantile Bank.Avoid this bank at all costs.
G Smith: Mercantile has supported our business for years with great customer service. The bankers are very responsive. Mercantile facilitated our SBA Paycheck Protection Program loan being submitted and approved with remarkable speed.

Rianna Castelow: While having a downtown location is convenient, the service is anything but that. Employees are not friendly or ever helpful, I’m better off driving out of my way to the Alpine branch.
Jeffrey Oldani: While I have had a great experience with PNC with my checking account, PNC falls more than short for prospective homeowners looking to obtain a mortgage.I strongly recommend that anyone looking to refinance or obtain their first mortgage look elsewhere. I have banked with PNC for roughly 10 years and there is a reason for that. Those ~10 years have been a great experience, however the past 5 months are making me reconsider the competency of this bank. I have had to hold their hand through this process, both while closing the loan and managing my escrow account.5 stars for banking. 1 for mortgaging. We'll call it 3 overall.
Dom Ralph: Charged me multiple times (over $140 / day) a day for overdraft fees. They were good until you slip up or don’t check your account but will punish you when you do.

negative creep: I'm in town from Philly and I needed to exchange a $100 bill for two $50 bills as late high school / college graduation gifts. I tried PNC Bank first, but they were unable to assist me because "I'm not their customer." The teller directed me to Old National Bank, which was just a few doors down. When I walked in I was immediately greeted by Ryan, who was happy to help me with my request ... even though I'm not a customer! I was so impressed with Ryan's friendliness, genuine warmth, and eagerness to assist an out-of-towner. Now THAT'S how customer service should be. Thank you, Ryan, and thank you Old National Bank!
jeff martin: The downtown Grand Rapids team has provided me with exceptional service. They greet me by name when I visit them and respond quickly to my phone calls and emails which enables me to better utilize ONB’s on line banking service (which I use a lot). I feel like it's my “local” bank.

I was worried about the changes that might happen when the transaction was taking place because I loved Founders Bank & Trust. I am glad to say that I have been 100% happy with my downtown branch. I am happy with all the banking services but most importantly I am happy that "my people" are still there. I get the best customer service from Ryan, Barb, Ace (and now Emily). johanna arellano: Honestly had this bank for years but I’m disappointed went twice at 4 they couldn’t help me open a new account, I asked to make an appointment at 4 on the first day, they said no that they would help me on the next day. I went on the next day and couldn’t help me then offered me to make me an appointment. I would have been helped if they would’ve helped me make an appointment in the first place. Poor customer service, also teller was making faces. Walked away telling her I would find a different bank and they said that was fine. That’s rude
Cheryl DeKruyter: The bankers here are not concerned about service. We entered the bank with over 20 minutes to close in order to open bank accounts for our kids. In order to do this, we all have to be there (mom plus dad plus kids) which is VERY difficult to do on work days (dad working, kids in school, etc). The banker on duty was on her computer (not helping anyone or even on the phone) but told the teller that she couldn’t help us because was busy. She didn’t even bother to come and tell us herself, to ask us what we needed, or apologize that she was working on something so important that she couldn’t help the customers in front of her. We weren’t even asking for the process to be completed today. We just wanted to sign the papers that we both want to open these accounts for our kids. We would go to another bank completely if we didn’t have all of our other accounts here. This is not the bank to come to of your looking for service from a banker on a Saturday.
RENE L.: Frankly put I will never bank with this bank. Had to fill my prescription at the pharmacy across the street. I also needed a couple rolls of quarters. I keep them in my vehicle for meter's and such. Usually I go to Huntington or Chase and never have an issue. The teller here refused to give me them stating that the bank only offers change to account holders. If I went to my bank they could surely give me some. I don't have a bank. So I left and proceeded to the Huntington Bank a mile or so away where the teller not only gave me the 2 rolls did so in a welcoming and friendly manner and wished me a great day.

Keenan Goodwin: I’ll start by saying this was my first time at this branch.I know that I was cutting close to the time they closed, but chose to go anyway. There were a few people ahead of me, and I was okay with waiting. The young woman behind the counter was the only one working and mind you this isn’t even her typical location. She was very professional and handled herself with such poise despite working both the counter and drive-through.A HUGE kudos to her, she deserves a raise and time off. I wish I had gotten her name to pass along word to higher up. Very pleased by her professionalism and attitude!

Andrew Martin: I went into this place on saturday to deposit a large check they asked if i needed the money to be available that day I said no monday is fine. They reassured me the money would be in my account monday morning and to call if there was any problems. It was not available monday morning and when i called they said there was nothing they could do. I'm a new customer at this bank and i'm strongly considering leaving
Lisa: Brought my check in from work to get it cashed. The date was a day early the women refused to give me my check back. When I explained she couldn't do this and to get the manager, she gave it back. I'd been banking there for 3 months. I cashed my check the next day and closed the account. My husband and my sisters friend have all had bad times with this bank.
