Happy Cat Cafe: what do users think?
Grace Tiesma: I loved it there. The drinks were wonderful and the atmosphere was fun and inviting. You could tell that the cats were well taken care of and the staff was very knowledgeable.Kid-friendliness: A few kids came in while we were there. I would say it's very kid friendly for kids who like cats. But it's a pretty quiet room, so it may not be very stimulating for some kids.
Myrhrai Video: Had a latte and spent an hour with the cats. Nothing beats quality well made coffee and playing with cats.Frankly, and hour isnt long enough.

While a reservation isn't required, it's recommended if you have a tight schedule or a large group of people.Vegetarian options: Non-dairy options are available upon request.Kid-friendliness: Children love this place and are very welcome, though anyone under 13 is required to be accompanied by an adult.Dietary restrictions: Non dairy and caffeine free options are available upon request.
Yuliana Albisu: We found this place by accident, the idea is very kind, original and the coffee is good! They have a special coffee menu, special drinks with tea and fruity; merchandise and the best part, they have shelter cats in a designed space for people to go and adopt them.Highly recommend this place, Sri by and get a coffee or help somehow buying merchandise. 💗💗💗💗🐈🐈🐈🐈
Amanda: Peaceful, quiet place to hang out. I enjoyed the Nutella Neko coffee. It was the middle of the day so several cats were sleeping, but I got to play with a couple of playful cats. Would go back again for a relaxing time.Parking: Parking lot next to building had ample spaces
Benjamin Buzzard: Went for one of their after hours events (Cats and Canvas). It was a great atmosphere, friendly customers and staff.Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Lavender Lynx …More

Ezra Richter: The best place to relax. Wish there were a few more decaf options, but everything is impeccable regardless from the kindly staff to the amazing merch! If I didn't have cats at home I would be tempted to make this a place to go every day (they can only handle so much jealousy when I come home smelling like other kitties ;) )!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Lavender Lynx, Blackberry Panther, Nutella Neko Parking options Free parking lot, Paid street parking …More

chris kopecky: Happy Cat Cafe partners with Michele's Rescue to find new homes for shelter kittens. You can stop by for a latte and use the free wifi like at any coffee shop while observing the cats through a giant picture window. Or for a more immersive experience you can sign up for an hour inside the cat room, $15 in January 2023, which typically hosts 6-8 cats available for adoption. You'll spend time with any or all the cats that to see if you have a "cat connection" and want to bring one home. Or you can also just have a kitty visit while supporting a good cause, especially if your current living situation is not conducive to bringing a new cat home. Inside the cat room they had lots of toys available, cat-centric TV programming and several perches and cozy nooks for the cats to relax in. There was a helpful bulletin board with little bios on each cat. I would suggest visiting earlier in the day as by mid-afternoon most of the cats seemed like they were ready for a long nap.

Madcap Coffee Company: what do users think?
Matthew Taub: Excellent Cappuccino. Good atmosphere with friendly and fast service. Highly recommend going here over Starbucks.
Jackson Brooks: There are some really great things about this cafe. The location and atmosphere are great. And the baristas were really friendly and knowledgeable. I got their coffee flight, which came with an espresso, black coffee, and a small milk based drink. The milk drink was very good, but unfortunately both the black coffee and the espresso were very underextracted. So I can't say I was impressed with the drinks themselves. I also bought some beans which were excellent, but also double the price of the comparable beans I buy from amazing roasters back home. So in summary, great location, staff, and beans, but they need to dial in their drinks, and I don't know if I am willing to pay their premium prices.
J Kremer: Typical downtown coffee shop. Quiet place to sit and relax. It is a bit more expensive than other coffee places around.Buyer beware; if you get a coffee to go, it will be much smaller than what you would normally get in store. You can see it in my photos. They were the same price and "same size." Definitely not worth it.
K W: The coffee was great, atmosphere was uncomfortable and workers not very friendly.Food: 5/5|Service: 1/5|Atmosphere: 1/5 …More
Michael Taillard: Average, at best. Above average pricing.Food: 2/5|Service: 3/5|Atmosphere: 3/5 …More
john theunisssen: Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5More
Cody Larriviere: Great coffee and atmosphere
Bob D: Very loud, poor service. No where to sit.
Ron Reed: This is the original Madcap in Grand Rapids. It is a little different than the Detroit ship, but a great place to sit for a coffee and work on your laptop for a few.Food: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Briana Mohan: Can't ask for anything more. Top tier baristas with an approachable vibe. Delicious coffee and accompaniments. Sponsors local artists.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
J S: First time in here, had a House of Jupiter and Vanilla latte, would definitely recommend! I will be coming here when I’m in town
mariah: Was very good. But expensive
Jason Dadah: Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Drip Coffee, Coffee FlightMore
Taressa Van Dam: My friend got the the something yam latte. It sounds weird but was actually really good. Came with little roasted marshmallows on top 🤩
Michelle Strain: Coffee is always outstanding here!
Jayla Wesley: can’t go a week without a visit to this cafe. baristas and staff are phenomenal and super sweet. their espresso (available to purchase as well) is top tier. I noticed that I am picky when it comes to espresso and coincidentally out my two favorite coffee shops in GR, both use the La Marzocco espresso machine. If that means anything to you this is your place, if it doesn’t stop in anyway to taste what I’m talking about. I do recommend coming in earlier though, this place is a hot spot on the weekends especially. and try the cafe miel! It’s a favorite i can’t get away from.p.s. they don’t charge you for alternative milk options. I never understood the insane up charge for milk that actually suits my stomach, here you don’t have to worry about that
Joe Escareno: What nice place to relax and enjoy something to drink!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Ben Sherwin: Fantastic specialty coffee. Always a stop i prioritise when in town.

The Sparrows Coffee & Tea & Newsstand: what do users think?
Erin Routledge: I've been visiting Scorpion Hearts club for the last year, and here is why I stopped going there altogether. Many from Grand Rapids love this little coffee shop, formerly known as Sparrows. However, I have experienced some things and have learned a lot that puts a bad taste in my mouth. We as a community are obligated to support and protect each other and that includes making sure everyone is entitled to a living wage.In the past year, many baristas that I have come to know and talk to have left. I overheard an interview in which I learned that the starting wage for Scorpion Hearts club is $9. Ask yourself if you could live off of that. Now, you may say, but tips! "So many people tip and this brings their wages up significantly." While tipping can help, it is not promised and I do not believe that any worker should have to rely on tips to make a living wage. No one should have to rely on a stranger to tip them $3 so they can pay their bills.I have also witnessed several times where there was only one poor barista during a rush and had 10+ coffees to make themselves.I also want to point out that with the returned ownership, all the drinks went up in price, however, the workers still make $9/hr. I urge this company to take a hard look at themselves and question if they cannot pay their workers fairly, do they deserve to own a business? Multiple other small businesses AND large franchises pay a higher base rate.Besides this, there are many other instances that made me uncomfortable and turned me off of this establishment. If you are counting on the wifi to do work, you might as well never come here. On average, the wifi has to be reset multiple times in a 3-4 hour basis and I often felt like I was being a nuisance by asking them to check it. Much easier to just go somewhere where I know the wifi is reliable. I would recommend they upgrade or get rid of it all together. Please remember that small business ≠ ethical practices and I urge you to be an informed consumer. Try a different shop that treats their employees and guests fairly. The coffee is okay, but there's great coffee other places too.
Antonio Altamirano: A coffee shop with a soul. Go for the pour over dark roast and stay for the socially conscious art, books and greeting cards. One of my favorite coffee spots in Grand Rapids!
My Grand Rapids Life My Grand Rapids Life: This coffee shop is definitely one of my favorites in the area, and there are many reasons why.First and foremost, the atmosphere at Scorpion Hearts Club is absolutely fantastic. It's a cozy and welcoming space that feels like a home away from home. Whether you're looking for a quiet spot to work or a place to catch up with friends, this coffee shop is perfect. And of course, the coffee itself is top-notch. The baristas at Scorpion Hearts Club really know their stuff and take pride in creating the perfect cup of coffee every time. You're sure to be impressed by the quality and attention to detail that goes into each and every drink.Overall, I would highly recommend Scorpion Hearts Club to anyone looking for a great coffee shop in Grand Rapids. With its welcoming atmosphere, top-notch coffee and food, and friendly staff, it's the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a great cup of coffee.
Mac Wolf: i am so glad i discovered this shop! the coffee is so delicious, they have a lot of cool art and records for sale, and this place has awesome vibes all around
Noelle Loomis: Super cute shop, recommended to me by a friend. I loved the atmosphere here and there were so many cute things to buy aside from coffee and food. I ordered a lavender vanilla latte with oatmilk and it did not dissapoint!Dietary restrictions: They have plenty of milk alternatives for the vegan or lactose intolerant!
Shiba eat U: 💛

Söl: I’ve been to this place a number of times before they rebranded and have always enjoyed the atmosphere, the food/drinks, and the employees are always a delight. This was my first time being back since the rebranding and it’s just as wonderful, if not more, than it was before. The chai tea latte was great!
Tisha Rios: Warm friendly atmosphere
Zedsuss: Amazing service and the nicest experience!
Jay Jay: So happy to have a place selling (good) pastries on Sunday in this neighborhood! Friendly staff too.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
T S: Great great coffee. Good price.Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
LeeAnn: favourite place forever. too bad about the name change, but what are ya gonna do?...
L Altena: Cozy, homey, and warm little coffee and tea spot. First time visiting since they were Sparrow and I was pleasantly surprised by the changes.Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Mia Berg: Great place - definitely visit! To clarify, they used to be Sparrow’s and recently renamed, but it is still the wonderful, modern, and creative coffee shop you’re after!I went last Saturday (01/21) and the girl who took my order/prepared my drink was probably one of the kindest people I’ve met, to both myself and to other customers. She was such a pleasure to get to talk to 😊The ambiance was really cool and there is a good amount of seating—just be warned that on a weekend afternoon, they can fill up fast!
Michael (McMichael McMonkey McBean): The matcha 🍵 latte and vegan sandwich cookie were awesome.Vegetarian options: Vegan sandwich cookies and brownies.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
