The noise of the restaurant and jammed together seats make this place very hard to hear or have a decent conversation in - which was disappointing. For our appetizer we got the meatballs and they weren’t our favorite, they have a uniquely sweet flavor. Our entrees were both delicious though, the swordfish & the steak but, the veggies with the steak were a bit undercooked. Drinks were great & we had a fabulous waitress.

Jonathan Tasman: Dessert lackluster.We tried the mocha cake and the seasonal creme brulee (April 2023).The mocha cake was over powered by the espresso flavor. With an after taste of bitterness, mixed with cake that was dry and soggy. Lastly the cake was cemented in a weird geletan, making it difficult to eat.The creme brulee was not mixed with the liquor correctly and was gritty like sand. Mix that with the pea sea glass it was better on paper.I appreciate the attempt at new flavors. However the execution, plating and the flavors left me disappointed.

Explore With Steggie: Am I in Grand Rapids or have I been transported to Toronto or Atlanta, or some other cool city? This place has it all. It's in an old building but the atmosphere is contemporary. I can't wait for summer when I'll be able to dine al fresco, along the river. The service was impeccable; appropriately attentive and unrushed. The cocktails were classic and creative. I had the Black Manhattan which is always a favorite. The wine selection is special and surprisingly affordable. We ordered a nice bottle of red blend from California. For an appetizer we had samosas which were delicious and vegan. I had the salmon, with fingerling potatoes and was perfectly done. Hubby had the Wagyu Steak which he described as tender and paired with root vegetables. I am anxious for an excuse to go back.

Celeste Maclin: We enjoyed the cocktails and appetizers here. We got the Cotton Gin (very liquor forward, similar to an old fashion) and Sloe Gin (similar to a spiked pink lemonade). Their shrimp beignets are excellent 👌 but the rest of our meal was disappointing. I'm Canadian, and I would not call their poutine an actual poutine. It's just loaded fries. I ordered the Boise "poutine." It didn't even have cheese curds or gravy on it?? 🤔 I then asked for a side of gravy and was given room temperature country gravy... that's not at all poutine! Also, my husband ordered the duck hash and it was bland. He didn't even want to take the left overs home.Our server Liz, was very attentive and sweet. We liked her. And our hostess was excellent. He gave us a tour of the rooftop bar and told us all about the history of the restaurant.We want to give this place another chance but will only come back for the rooftop view, appetizers, and drinks.

Nancy: Mertens Prime is a beautiful building with character and history. Whether you go for a drink or a meal you are sure to have a wonderful experience! We sat at the bar and Will, our bartender, was attentive and offered great suggestions. My husband and I shared the French onion and the Caouane soups along with the roasted beet salad and sirloin steak. Everything was delicious and the restaurant's ambiance along with the attentive staff made for the perfect evening!

The interior is really pretty.However, the last time I was here, I also went up to the Rooftop. They have a limited amount of drinks available there, but our drinks were still okay. Then we ordered food - not a good idea. I don't know if it's because they are upstairs, or the food is this bad downstairs, too, but it was awful. I ordered the Salmon salad, and my friend ordered the Half Chicken. The salad was NOT good, and we agreed that my salmon did not look cooked. But honestly there was basically a plate of arugula and the fish. There aren't any veggies or anything in the salad - not impressive. The chicken was just okay - but also very bland and not incredibly warm.Service was just okay up there, but the view is nice. We didn't have to wait, but it was a Monday.Parking: There is no parking lot, but they do give you a coupon if you are in a lot or ramp close by.

A different server brought me the bill with salad comped and apologized for the wait and said 23$ salad was comped cus it took WAY too long. As I’m waiting for my them to come take my payment my actual server finally comes back and says “they brought you the wrong bill” and brings me a bill with the 23$ salad still on it after I was told it would be comped. When I questioned this he said he would have to call his manager now. At this point I said forget it and paid and left. I will never return to the this restaurant. And will be letting my massive social media following know to avoid as well

D How: The experience of being on the roof was amazing...the cocktails were good as well a little too pricey $30 for 2 drinks and $85 for a bottle of rose. The food was terrible taste like they cooked it in a microwave or it sat under a heat lamp..I gave 2 stars simply because the food was very expensive and did not taste well at all..I requested butter because the meat was hard and dry I was charged $10 for it! Not only was I charged but it was cold like they just took it from the fridge and served it in a bowl...after all that being said the server was very nice 👌 it was again the food for the price...also no smoking, vaping, I overheard another customer asking if it was ok and tge reply was no.

For tapas, highly recommend grilled octopus, angus beef roasted bone marrow, and medjool dates. For mains, scallops, skate wings and dry aged duck breast are absolutely delicious. Brandon's Equipment Videos: I was invited to MDRD for a special occasion. I had never heard of this restaurant, but after looking at other reviews, I developed high expectations. I do have to say that MDRD lived up to those expectations! The view from the 27th floor is great. Brandon, our server, was very patient with explaining the different food options to our party and accommodating our requests. Our meals started with an olive garnish. Green olives are not my favorite, but it was still a nice touch. We ordered several tapas, which are essentially smaller plates of food that can be shared with the whole table. I highly recommend the lamb chops, they were by far my favorite dish that I tasted that night! I also enjoyed the prawns. The jamon y queso tapa was not my favorite, but everybody else seemed to enjoy it. For my main course I had the ribeye steak. The steak was very flavorful and cooked to my liking. I love how the ribeye was bone in, as that adds a lot of flavor. Of course, this restaurant is expensive, but that goes without saying. If you are looking for a unique fine dining experience in the Grand Rapids area, this would definitely be one of my top picks!

My husband and I had our first dining experience here for my birthday, after the recommendation of a friend. Parking validation for half of the parking fee is available conveniently across the street. The views from any table in the restaurant are breathtaking. Our taste buds were set alight with the main courses that we ordered. I had the lobster paella and he had the filet a la plancha. Both brought exquisite high def flavors to our taste buds! We completed the experience with the limon dessert, and I am still left puzzled as to how they worked such culinary magic with that creation! We are so fortunate to live in a town with such a world class restaurant at our fingertips!

We had an idea of we wanted to order, but our server helped steer our choices toward some of the staff picks. I ordered the lasagna from the menu (very small menu, not many options).I wasn't satisfied at all with the lasagna. The presentation was bland and the lasagna wasn't seasoned good. It was very dry. I called my server over to express my disappointment and to place another order, different from the lasagna. My server informed me that I would have to pay for the lasagna, including the additional meal. I asked if I could be discounted at the least for the inconvenience. My server said no and then I asked to speak to a manager which happened to be the owner of the establishment.The owner was very dismissive and lacked empathy. I was in total shock with the way she responded giving the fact that one, she is the owner, and two, we are the customers, here supporting her establishment.Would I return here again or recommend this place to someone else? No. Try it out yourself. You may get a different experience!

Breanna Ramos: Every facet of our experience was fantastic. Marcus knocked it out of the park with every cocktail (we tried several). Their bone marrow is exceptional with a refreshingly different approach and flavor profile than most restaurants. We also appreciated that the bone was cut lengthwise, as it makes it much easier to access the marrow. Their charcuterie was the best presentation we've seen from a restaurant, and every element was delicious. For our main course, we had the pork shank and lasagna, which were both wonderful. The ambience was great and the restaurant itself is beautiful, and it's not stuffy at all. The service was wonderful, especially Morgan, who was kind, funny, attentive, and helpful. An often overlooked detail we greatly appreciated was how comfortable the chairs are. At risk of sounding snooty, we love fine dining and have been to many Michelin-starred and bib gourmand restaurants, so we tend to be more critical of nicer restaurants because of what we have to compare it to. Divani didn't disappoint. We don't have any critiques or suggestions and left completely satisfied. We went to a show after dinner and then decided to come right back for more cocktails, coffee, tea, and creme brulee to end the night. We live almost two hours away and will be back regularly.

Courtney Leigh: Don’t come here unless you want to be scolded by the bartender and talked down to for asking questions about the menu. I have celiac disease so I have to be very careful when I dine out, and I asked if a certain drink was gluten free. I was immediately told I was wrong for even asking the question and then given an (unwelcomed) school lesson on how all drinks are gluten free. Ridiculous and embarrassing experience. Will not be back.Dietary restrictions: Would not trust this establishment if you are gluten free or have celiac disease.
