Fish Lads: what do users think?
Chloe: Best lobster rolls around
nannette lloyd: This place is crazy busy so figure out what you want before you get up to order. Beautiful fresh seafood and fish to take home to cook. They also have the best lobster roll I have ever eaten. It's a bit pricey for lunch but worth every penny. So... so very good. Check out their other order to go foods like their seafood salad, also outstanding.
Amber Pagan: The clam and the muscles were fantastic. One MINOR suggestion is to add a small baguette for the broth, and the dish will be perfect. They were slammed when we got there and the server was working her butt off by herself and did great managing all of it. We will be back. The next dish we are going to try is the fish and chips :-)
Jillian Rau: They always have the hard to find fish and seafood. Also, if you have a minute, stay and enjoy their delicious food!
Michael Belligan: I had really high hopes given the gorgeous fish & other items in their display but the fish tacos, at $18 for 3, really missed the mark. They had generous pieces of fish which is great but the dusted breading & light toppings left them flavorless and disappointing. I’d definitely buy other things from them but the fish tacos in particular weren’t for me. Hopefully my next experience is better!
Kevin Snyder: Good, can't wait to try again
Julie Versluis: Best fish and chips in Grand Rapids. Make sure to ask for Megan at the counter. She is amazing, very personable and incredibly knowledgeable. Thanks Megan…you’re the BEST!!
Paige Purcell: Fish lads has been on our bucket list of places to try for quite awhile. We always walk past and eyeball all their meats and fish which look fresh & great sitting there in that case of ice. Ive had friends talk about purchasing fish from there and have no complaints..Yesterday, we went to the market specifically to finally try Fish Lads for lunch. We placed an order for a turkey ruben & a BLT. The food was fast & hot. The service was bare minimum- the gentleman wasnt rude but wasnt friendly- definitely a part I am willing to give the benefit of doubt to until coming here and reading very similar reviews about the service. But unfortunately this isn’t a story even entirely about the service, its about how upon immediately opening the turkey ruben we observed a nice long black hair lingering on the edge of the bread within the thousand island sauce. I, myself, ate half way through my BLT before discovering a smaller almost beard-like hair. Honestly, I have no words for how appalling this experience was. I wasnt even sure how to go about it; so I came to Google to see if others may have had anything similar… at this point I dont see too many others with concerns of the cleanliness and the personal hygiene of the staff but we definitely will not be recommending or returning.* This is my personal experience from the time I went in to order lunch straight from the counter and have no further experience with their meats & fish to take home and cook on your own and the quality in that tegard.
Kelly D: Fish tacos were so bland and tasteless. Not worth the price tag at all.
Dave Claver: Only thing to complain about....Kinda pricey but, FRESH FISH!
Beverle Hines: We bought some fresh fish to make at home. Very good fish and helpful staff.
Ash Maul: This place is amazing.I used to come here for fried clams and the Blackened fish years ago and kind of forgot they existed. I walked into the Market to pick up my lunch takeout from a different restaraunt and saw Fish Lads. I ran over and impulse bought an entire second lunch and I have no regrets about it.I have a gluten intolerance and after mentioning this they breaded the fish with corn meal for my Fish and Chips and it's the first time I've had fish and chips in over a decade.Seriously. Best decision I have made today.
Edward Dixon: Very nice fish market. Clean and the staff was professional.
tim authier: The best fish market I've found in many years. Highly recommended.
g b: Great oysters
cosette wood: Edit: seeing other photos of fries from here I realized our fries were burnt... and that our rolls were probably not supposed to be cold. not worth 34 dollars and the woman working the counter was not friendly or open to any questions. Not sure we will come back for the rolls at this point.Never got to try lobster rolls before coming here. They were very good! Only thing my fiance and I wondered about was if the lobster meat was supposed to be cold? And the price being 34 for each was a bit ridiculous since the fries they come with left alot to be desired. But we were satisfied with the rolls and would come back here again to buy lobster tails once they have them in stock.
Sue Gordon: "The guy" is a revolving theme when talking about the service at Fish Lads. Let me describe him to you. He is shorter than the average man, does not greet you when you arrive, makes you feel uneasy because of his apparent dislike of his job and does not thank you after the transaction. If you ask a question he makes you feel like it's a dumb question. The overall interaction is so hugely negative that when you leave you feel an immense amount of anxiety at what just happened. This "guy" has been there for awhile. Last year, he kept my son on hold for 15 minutes for a phone in order. At pick up, he was in the back and made me wait and it was obvious that he knew he had a customer. My question for Fish Lads is, "Why do you employ a front line employee who represents your organization and who so obviously HATES the customers that he serves"? Customer service is more than half your business, isn't it? This guy needs to find employment elsewhere as he is turning off the customers at a rapid rate. After feeling so stressed by his demeanor last week I took my cash and went to Forest Hills Foods for my fresh seafood. They are friendly there. Frankly, I went back to Fish Lads for my Christmas dinner purchase (chose to not buy here this year because of all of this) thinking that surely "that guy" would have moved on. Nope. He's found his forever place apparently where management could care less how much of a turn off he is. Trust me, you're losing a lot of business because of this guy. The other staff were friendly by the way. Peace.
Tim Putt: The best and freshest seafood in the city . From tuna steaks to swordfish, fresh squid and octopus more . Get those hard to find ingredients for your exotic dish today at fish lads
Greg Skipper: Wonderful halibut and fries with clam chowder
Elaine Troehler: My friend and ate for the first time here enjoyed a wonderful lunch of fish and chips. And it was a pleasure having Liam serve and wait on us--very nice experience.
LaShone Nichols: Whole Foods was sold out of Branzino but I found it in stock at Fish Lads. I was waiting at the counter for few minutes before staff came from the back. The guy then went to talk to another member of staff while I’m still waiting. While he was walking back over, he saw another customer waiting and asked them if they needed help. I had to say, “Excuse me sir, I’ve been waiting here.” He immediately came to help then but had a cold/nonchalant presentation. You would think that for the price you pay per pound on seafood here that they would at least have courteous workers. The guy never even said have a good day. Bad business.

Vander Mill Grand Rapids: what do users think?
Allie Kanitz: We had our company Christmas party here and it was perfect. The staff was great! Food and cider was awesome as well.
Jacob Schopp: Poor treatment of staff and a mediocre product
Susan: If you like cider this is the place for you! Many delicious options. They also have a few beers on the menu for the beer drinkers.
John Spykman: One of the best patios in GR! Loved the RazzApple cider and the fries.
Cassandra H: My burger was a tiny like sausage and my house fried potato chips looked a lot like Ruffles.
Ryan Hollowell: Stopped here on a 5 hour drive because they said they had gluten free options, 35 mins after ordering and waiting I was informed they were incorrect and didnt have any gluten free options. Thanks for wasting our time! Get some servers here there is no service literally you have to order everything from the bar.
Jeffrey Oldani: Better options (i.e., cheaper/higher quality) for most further west on Michigan St near the pub crawl area, but if you are a cider fiend; this might be your place. They have recently modified the food menu without reflecting the changes by title or pricing. If you like a blue burger without blue cheese, this may also be the spot for you.
Brian Fredette: A great spot for a nice dinner. Outdoor seating with live music.
Nathan Miller: Great ciders, great staff, and a very spacious area to hang out in whether inside or out. Highly recommend! Food was nice too but not the main reason to come here since they're a cidery, not a restaurant.
Scott Chauncey: Great drink selection of ciders.
Bob Botting: We hosted a rehearsal dinner at Vander Mill, and had a fantastic experience. Our venue was the production floor with picnic and hi-top tables. We had cider (of course!), food from their kitchen, and yard games that they provided. We had a great time, the food was good, and Vander Mill was very accommodating. I'd recommend it to anyone.
Dana Eveland: ✅ Venue✅ Drinks✅ Chicken Tenders✅ Smash Burger ( a little too salty but still real good)❌❌❌ “BBQ Sauce”
Jonathan Bundy: I had a flight when I was in town. My favorites were Brut and Bluish Gold.
Joel Wood: We rented the Production floor for our post-wedding reception party and it was amazing! The food and service were great! Guests would not stop talking about the sliders and fries. I did not realize it until that night that they are not usually open on Sundays, so they opened just for us. They were great to work with. I would highly recommend using them as a venue!
James Kieda: Awesome hard cider...locally made...and excellent friendly staff
Andrew Henness: Really good food, friendly staff and great cider selection. I came during happy hour, so cider flights were only $5. They had chili cheese fries with a cider cheese that was amazing. Their house fried potato chips were delicious. If I’m back in Grand Rapids I will definitely be visiting again.
Glenn Fountain: Many ciders to choose from. We enjoyed a wonderful flight during happy hour....only $5.Great atmosphere, friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Shelby Denhof: I came here with a group of 16 people and Vander Mill staff was very attentive and accommodating with such a large group.
Karla Fountain: Great service and great happy hour food and flight specials. So many tasty ciders.
Jakob Hicks: Fantastic ciders & shareable food options. Very inviting environment and staff! Fantastic place to gather with friends.
Jessica Reilly: We had a great time at Vandermill and will definitely be going back to try more food! They have a large selection of their own ciders and great prices ($9 for a flight?!) - we ended our night here and the cheesecake was to die for. All of the the staff were all very friendly, but our bartender Shandra was awesome at helping us make our selections and we had a good time chatting with her.

Tony Morales: The place is cool. Lots of great shops. Eat at Fishlads.
Wandering Soul Collective: Alt City is where it’s at, babyyyyyy! Do yourself a favor and try any of their absolutely delicious concoctions! Field and fire has great bread, and the Mexican joint has amazing vegan options.
Ryan McGinn: So many options. Slow's BBQ, Carver's, Wiki Wiki Poke, Cafe de Miro, Rak Thai, etc. It's the perfect place for bringing a diverse group of people for a meal. There's something for everyone.Food: 5/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More

Rajinder Gulati: Did not find any attraction except food.
Yarlene Brooks: Lots of different options! Clean environment, and lots of room to eat. Also, very friendly people. Try a mochi donut!
Brad Sciullo: This is the only place you should eat if you are in grand rapids for a short period of time (or live there really)That may sound strange but dont bother with most places out of of the downtown market. Its surprising to say the least how great it is. Youll see. you will do fine wherever but try Gabbys Gourmandise as soon as you walk in from the lot then go from there. I can rattle off plenty more but youll be fine no matter what you choos

Marilyn M. G.: We love the downtown market. Ate at Rak Thai today. Ordered the Pad See Yu (pad see ew)... best I've had in Michigan. Fresh and flavorful. The Crab Cheese was not very good...filling was bland and they weren't cooked enough. Food came out relatively fast. The cashier was unfriendly. We will be back though, for some Pad See Yu!Food: 4/5|Service: 3/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Steve Kleinheksel: This place is amazing! By far the best food court I've ever been in. Everything is local and natural. You can grab sushi and for dessert a maple bacon donut next door. They have a top notch meat department. The marble on the meats were absolutely a work of art. Omg checkout this place!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Charcuterie, Popcorn, Spicy Pepperoni, Croissants, Key Lime Pie, Lobster Roll, Fish Tacos, Exter Jumbo King Crab Legs, Roll, Sushi Market, Smoked Salmon, Great Meat Selection, Sushi A, Fresh Seafood, Roast Beef, Meat and Cheese, Ice Cream Flight, Seafood, Paris-Brest, BBQ Parking space Plenty of parking …More

Nick Bates: Absolutely love this place. The brown butter coffee is my favorite, and the noodle bowl from Rak Thai is incredible
Braden Weber: Can't say enough good things about this place. Courteous people everywhere willing to help in browsing, variety of unique, local, and high quality products, and a great location for special events.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
C Fuller (D B): Expensive but a great place to walk around
Alyssa Goch: Get the tinned fish at Aperitivo and some Sherry for your oysters
Thom Dumond: Food: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5More
Jana hsu: Security needs to do something about the people who hang out in this parking lot asking everyone who is driving in and parking for money and other favors. I am a single mother with very young children and I was asked and harassed and cursed at by one of these individuals and 3 others asked me for money and help. This is a job for the city and not for patrons who park here.

Butcher's Union: what do users think?
Cristian Gonzalez: very great food experience. had the risotto pasta. was deliciousFood: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Lindsay Chadwell: Butchers union is one of the coolest places to dine in GR! It was PACKED on a Tuesday. I snuck in and grabbed a bar seat to try the new summer cocktails and a light dinner! Everything was great, I only wish there were more salad and chicken options! They had one chicken entree on the menu and it was a half of a chicken that took a minimum of 20 minutes. The chicken on the salad was also an option. The service was impeccable. Definitely shoot for a seat in the back as that’s the most asthethic and open area of the restaurant! I probably won’t dine alone here again as it was pretty loud and packed, but definitely recommend for a dinner with friends or a date!
Rebecca Irby (PEAC Institute): Incredible food and drinks! The bar has such a wide and deep liquor selection, especially the whiskeys, but also A LOT of great beers. I highly recommend! And get there on the earlier side, it gets busy quick - they open at 4.
Michael Davis: Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Charred Flank Steak from tr NaturalMore
Aaron LePoire: I wanted to like this more with all of the stellar reviews I've heard, but I came away disappointed. The atmosphere and service were great, as well as the cocktails, but the food overall was disappointing. We found multiple hairs in our food and found it to be underwhelming and slightly under seasoned. It was very busy, they do have a wait list but no reservations and it gets very loud so don't expect an intimate experience.Parking: Street parking and paid lots available nearby.
John Manilla: Very nice dinner and drinks. Waygu steak was excellent! Vibrant atmosphere, a bit loud, but pleasant. Very warm and friendly service.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5Recommended dishes Bourbon Apple Crisp …More

Devin Dailey: One of the best places in GR to have a date night. Service is always spectacular.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Eric Ondersma: Reminder than even the restaurants that seem nice have an ugly underside. Employees in full view out back smoking, swearing about customers. Look how fifthly it is too. If they don't care there what else don't they care about? Just asking questions.
Paul Nikandrou: One of my favorite spots in town.
Shiba eat U: 👍🏻
Jenn M: I loved the open environment and feeling the breeze from outside! (It still wasn't stifling which is a plus.) The ribeye sandwich was amazing and I've been craving it every day since!Pretty impressive burboun list as well!Food: 5/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 4/5Recommended dishes Bourbon Apple Crisp …More
Jim Miars: Had a great experience there, place is super busy, but our foursome got treated great. Try the Brussel Sprouts, amazing! It would be easy for a place like this, due to their high foot traffic location, to be lazy with regard to food and/or service. Not this place! I have been there since and sat in a different spot with picky orderers/eaters- again, treated wonderfully, food was great. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed. There is often a wait, so prepare for that. We had cocktails out on the street while waiting, it was great. We were a little hungover the next day, lol.
Tisha DeGiulio: Yuuuuuum. Such an amazing experience. Everything was so tasty, the pork belly was incredible. Ricotta incredible. Burger was voted best burger in GR by the model in the picture. Our waiter, Alex, was super knowledgeable about the food & drinks which made our first time here so comfortable. He was attentive, gave great recommendations, and so kind! Will be back soon, thank you!!
Nick Annese: Great selection of bourbon and other cocktails. In my opinion the food, while good, is nothing exceptional and not worth the price tag.
Joy Shin: their dessert is AMAZING ! atmosphere & service was good too but the cake had me fall in love with this place🤤
Patrick Martin: Appetizers were good service was very good...unfortunately the main courses were not great and at the prices they charge you would think the wouldn't OVER cook everything..Food: 2/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Courtney Leeper: We really enjoyed our dinner at Butcher's Union. They don't take reservations, but have a online waitlist you can join, we went on a Wednesday night and it was packed so there we had a 30 min wait for 4, but we all agreed it was well worth the wait. Our server was fantastic, and we had a drink at the bar before being seated and staff at the bar was wonderful. Great beer and cocktail selection, not a huge menu but we all got something different and enjoyed it. The inside is beautiful and so unique it made for a great dinning experience. Would definitely recommend trying this place!!
Joseph Lange: Thanks Emma for your great service‼️The food was delicious 👍
Nick Pinckney: The service was great, the food was even better.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5Recommended dishes Bourbon Apple Crisp, Old Fashioned Cheesecake …More
