Foo Yen: what do users think?
Dyllan Nawrot: The owner is the absolute nicest woman and she truly cares about her local community and especially the schools around her. The food is awesome and the price is absolutely amazing. Support Foo Yen!!
Chris christensen: General tso chicken was fresh and delicious!! Highly recommend and I will be back
Stephanie O'Kane: This is by far the best Chinese food I've had in years! All the ingredients are fresh and the flavor is perfection! The food comes out piping hot and is absolutely delicious!! I'm really sad that the owner spends her days here alone, I really don't want this gem of an eatery to disappear and close. Whoever sees this, please help her save her business and go get some amazing cuisine!
Jax Heil: Amazing owner. So friendly — one of the best places in town. Food is amazing and I feel so welcomed whenever I walk in!
Nate And Norbert: Great place for consistent, delicious food. I go after class and usually it’s busy, but my order always comes out on time, and hot. Would recommend.
Paul Hart: This is my go-to Chinese restaurant in town. The owner is one of the main chefs and really cares about the quality of the food.
Liz Wheeler: My go to for MANY many years. Consistent, hot, and well prepared dishes every time. We love Foo Yen!
Crystal Tuesday: Arguably the best orange chicken I’ve ever had, and the woman behind the counter was a pleasure. Couldnt be more pleased.
Emily Perez: Our office ordered as a group. When we originally called we told them we had 7 orders to place (our office always orders as a group) the women who took the orders were very rude. Upon getting our food back to our workplace the meat were all over cooked, dry, and hard. Every single egg roll we got were all burnt and too hard to eat. You would think a place would appreciate our business but I guess not. We will not be ordering again from them and will tell all of our co-workers and others not to as well. Money wasted on food we can't even eat because it's too hard. Lesson learned I guess.
Happy S-K: This is the worse Chinese restaurant I have ever been! Shrimp vegetable deluxe doesn’t comes with sauce, it is just plain water. It only comes with 6 pieces of small shrimp. The egg-roll is BURNT! What a waste of my $8 lunch! I would not recommend this place.
LaJuan Pitts: Great food, the best in Grand Rapids!
Ryan Corcoran: This restaurant has quick service, is well priced, and is consistently delicious. The owners are friendly. The indoor dinning area is very small. I have only ever gotten take out from Foo Yen. I have had there food many times and have never had a bad experience.
William Julien: Enjoyed our meal
Paul Stover: Great food and great people.
Nikki King: The lady that owns restaurant, Stephanie is rude and condescending. I don't recommend this place for dining. The food is ok but, the lady is not professional and she is rude. It's a thumbs down for me! Save your money and go somewhere that has better customer service!
Chris Hazzard: Food was not great. Was expensive for the quality
Nelson Schrader: Ordered a meal from them which was missing sauce. Tried to explain the situation to the owner today and she was very condescending and rude. Would not admit the mistake even when we showed her the uneaten food with no sauce. They offered to comp part of our next meal. When we ordered our next meal they charged us an extra $10 even when they said they took off an entree as a mistake. To top it all off, when we got home we noticed part of our meal was missing....So in two experiences eating there they have messed up both orders, charged us $10 extra, and was very rude to us when we brought it up to them.Id highly recommend going to Gaslight Kitchen or one of the other Asian restaurants nearby instead.
Marissa Gagnon: Hands down our favorite Chinese restaurant in Grand Rapids. Not positive why foo yen doesn’t have a 5 star rating. Each time we go, it seems to always get better! Super nice people and amazing food! Highly recommed.
Michele McVeety: We ordered the deluxe hunan 3egg rolls and egg drop soup and can say we were highly satisfied.
Beau Pierson: Amazing food! No complaints, everything was perfect!
Paul Mason: My favorite Chinese place to eat. They are always so friendly and remember my regular order!

Tea Garden: what do users think?
Larry Kinkaid: Food is great! Service was impeccable. We will be back!Recommended dishes Egg Roll, Fried Rice …More
Jai Woolworth: My favorite Chinese food and the workers have known me since I was lil
Kelly Gardner: The food is fun! We really enjoyed the Honey Toast. Delicious, toasy, and creamy perfection! The Beef Bulgogi nachos were ok; the presentation was lacking, and the sauce was overpowering. They appeared to be understaffed on a busy Saturday, so the dining room and bathrooms were super clean, but the staff was friendly and the service was fast. They even waited for us to eat the nachos before preparing the Honey Toast, which was very kind and much appreciated.
Chey S: That was the most tasteless food I have ever tasted in my life. The only reason I’m giving it a 1 star is because the food was fresh. If the sesame seed chicken or the general tsos chicken didn’t have sauce, I am 100% positive they would also be tasteless. How in the heck is the food hot and fresh but have absolutely no taste?!? The egg rolls came with sauce and it tasted like fruit punch! The egg roll was as dry Arizona heat! What little I ate is just sitting in my stomach like a brick. I basically donated $45, never again.
Emir K: Best service, best food.
Thaisa Rantanen: Very clean! Good food! I appreciate that the employees wash their hands frequently!
Elliot Gruszka: I don't like to leave negative reviews, but I kind of feel compelled to in this case because there is so much better Chinese food available all over GR. We got a menu in the mail after not going to Tea Garden in probably 10 years. Prices have gone up everywhere, and Tea Garden seemed like it might be a good value.[Ron Howard Voiceover: It wasn't]The sauces on our dish tasted weird, like they came from a giant can. Definitely not fresh tasting. It was kind of like a glorified frozen Chinese meal you might find at Costco or Sam's. Very disappointed. I'd say spend a few more $ and go to Grand Lakes in Breton Village or any number of restaurants on Division or Eastern south of 28th Street.
Sean Ferguson: Veggies were fresh, if a little repetitive across dishes (carrot, broccoli, onion, sometimes a green bean). They did a free add of tofu for one dish, very appreciated. The spiciness level of the Szechuan was nearly non-existent and I didn't get the telltale numbing typical of the genre. But, it was pretty tasty. The fried rice might be the best of the things we had, flavorful without that gross cheap oil flavor of so many other restaurants.
Curt Andrews: Had orange chicken and fried rice.Rice was just brown, not fried and taste very old, I couldn’t eat. Only doing a review because I really wasted 10 bucks.
Cassandra Sykes: Good food and friendly staff
Renee Wood: Hot and sour soup is fantastic!!
M4N 0F 5T33L: Very nice people and great tasting take-out! Highly recommend! By far best takeout in GR. Fresh food cooked to order. They take pride in their service. Other takeouts around GR lack flavor in their dishes. Tea Garden is DELICIOUS!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Amanda Troyer: Recommended dishes Egg Roll, Chicken Fried Rice, Shrimp Fried Rice, Chicken Egg Roll, Fried RiceMore
Novi Bear: Haven't been by here since my job moved. Was not feeling Culver's drive thru and line out the door. So we tried tea garden again. Loved the dinner combos with fried rice.Recommended dishes Fried Rice, Crab Rangoon …More
Teresa Boyer: Delicious
Paul Dyer: Incredible food and service!
Amie Holmes: I have to admit the service was top notch they were very wonderful and nice, however the the food was a severe letdown. It did not taste correctly, and I did not feel good after eating. That was unfortunate because I was really looking forward to some Chinese food.😥
Cecily Shi: So good that we came 3 days in a roll! Fresh ingredients and lots of flavors. Serving Poke bowl daily until 2:30pm.
Richard Rowell: Just stopped by for the first time, lovely little family run restaurant. Food was very good, we will go back for sure.
Ripley T.: The orange chicken here at Tea Garden can't be beat. I order from here quite frequently, the prices are SO great for the top notch quality!
Melli Belize: The kid taking orders has neither manners nor basic customer service skills. He is so rude!!! Who put him to work the phones?!

Char: what do users think?
Kayla Henneman: One of the best resturants in Grand Rapids. The Korean tacos are a 12/10.Definitely need to stop in to order. Abdul, the owner, is so friendly and always behind the grill. I cannot recommend enough. Don't forget to grab a punch card on the way out!

Tee Dee: 5 stars but only for the dude working the line tonight on Tuesday, May 16th.He was crushing it. Props to you, dude.
Jessica Warblow: The food is amazing.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 3/5Recommended dishes Loaded Wonton Nachos, Crab Rangoon, 3 Tacos 1 Chicken 1 Steak 1 Shrimp Flour Tortillas, Chicken Taco Platter …More
Jessica Braga: The food is delicious! Healthy, fresh, clean, staff was amazing. I absolutely loved it and will definitely be back. It’s worth every penny!
Lisa Ann: I've always loved this place, however when I just went in for the first time in a couple months my jaw hit the floor at their increased prices. $20 for three small tacos and $19 for nachos. When I asked the employee if they increased their prices, he said "yea a little bit." Yea $5+ increase on every menu item is more than a little bit. Idk what made them hike their prices like this, but it's incredibly unfortunate because I would frequently come in and order multiple entrees. Today that would have cost me twice as much as previous visits ($40 for three tacos and a rice bowl??😬) Instead I walked out and am looking for a different place to eat.
Samuel Schubkegel: Fantastic place to get food.Amazing tasting food ✅Friendly and helpful staff - Great CS ✅Budget-friendly prices ✅I cannot recommend this place highly enough. The tacos are some of the best I’ve had in Grand Rapids. Definitely doing their own thing, not competing with anyone.I’ve been living here for 6 years, and this place continues to hold a unique value in the GR food scene.Take-out is what I’d suggest, although there is room to dine in.Parking isn’t ideal- street parking only. But it’s worth the hassle! I’d try Peking over by the community college or the veterans and then walking over. Or bring a friend and just do take out. Have them drop you off!
Candie Reece: Food: 4/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 4/5More
Molly G.: It took long enough to finally try this place... They are an extension of gita pita which is my ultimate fav for Mediterranean food, and my must stop if I'm in the area. Now I'll have to get a pita and taco when stopping in lolThe tacos were AMAZING, they have vegan and veg options which makes this vegetarian ecstatic!! You Have to try the teriyaki and yum yum sauce together on the tacos, corn tortillas all the way, best I've had in a while. The fried wonton was also another yummy twist, egg roll filled with cheese!
Cari Fisher: Love coming here. Food is delicious, unique and fresh! If you like Asian food, especially teriyaki, come here and try the tacos!Updated review:Stopped by here with my boyfriend after being out of town for a couple months. Apparently they hiked their prices. A trio of tacos jumped from $13.50 to over $18. $5 is a big jump and honestly, as much as we love these tacos, it's not worth paying almost $50 for 6 tacos and 2 drinks. I get the price of food for restaurants is higher, but at this rate, you're going to lose a lot of customers who can't afford the new prices.
Dave Tiesma: Great little place! My wife and I happened to be downtown and decided to grab dinner while we were here.Found Char on the map and decided to give it a try.Very glad we did!My wife got a sajiya bowl with lamb. The lamb was cooked right then and there and she loved it!I got the shrimp fried rice bowl and it was very good. Great taste. You can add different toppings and one of the employees suggested mixing 2 of the sauces. He was right, they worked well together. They have coke products- both bottles and fountain. The garlic sauce is also awesome.Give this place a try!
Carl Roger: Was not the best experience for a first-time customer. Made an order online for 2 Baklava & 2 Korean Chefs Cake that would take 30 minutes. Not a problem. I show and first have to deal with a homeless person standing out front asking for money, which is not their problem, but frustrating. When I show up, I tell the man working my pickup. And he points to the counter where there is a stack of Baklava already packaged, but they are out of the Cheesecake. So, before I can politely ask for a refund, he hands me two of the same size dishes (as Baklava) saying, "This Cinnamon..." (I could not understand what he was saying. Again, they were busy, and it was loud. He said ..."This Cinnamon....much better". I just took and went home. Needless to say, none of us were impressed with either dish. Smaller than expected, and cold. Of course, the foo had been sitting on the counter. Not sure why we had to wait 30 minutes. I am a firm believer of tipping, but for this order of $30.00, the tip was not earned at all ($6.00) - The store was clean. Just not a great first impression.Parking: No parking when we came.
MMJ 3 Family: This place is one of the best in the city and I absolutely love it. The problem is it’s now $25 for the three taco combo. Just for three tacos it’s $18.99. Nowhere on the planet should tacos cost that much. They started at $11.99 which was good. Then it rose to $14.99 and i get it costs have risen but it’s now $18.99… 5 star for creative great tasting fusion tacos but 1 star for price…
Raya Aqel: Char is a great place to eat. I've been a customer for almost over two years now. They're Muslim owned, halal food with amazing tastes and menu items. Sometimes I do find my chicken in my chicken tacos to be pink which has caused me to get sick more than twice. This is just me being honest. However, recently they raised their prices to absurd amounts. Almost $20 for 3 tacos? Are you kidding? Just a few days ago I came in for the first time in awhile, I got 6 tacos and 2 wonton cheese rolls and paid $49 and some change. My jaw dropped at the register. I have never paid this much here and I use to come here every Tuesday and Thursday when I attended GRCC. I used to pay less than $15 for 3 tacos a cheese roll and a drink. I won't be returning anytime soon. These prices are ridiculous. Char is good but not that good.
Riley Maksymiu: Sooooooooo good. Everything is so good here and they also have a ghost menu that is AMAZING!!
Katie Gentry: This was our first time eating here and they did not disappoint!!! The service was great and the food even better!! We will definitely be going back!!!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Shrimp Taco, Asian Steak Tacos, Street Tacos …More
Summer Bevan: New fav taco/fried rice joint to get some much needed lunch grub downtown. If you haven't popped in and got urself what I mentioned in the beginning your missing out.Vegetarian options: Although I'm not vegan, I did notice the vegan options they had.
Lisa H: The black bean kimchi wonton nachos are so delicious and so are the black bean kimchi tacos! The wonton chips are so yummy and a nice change from traditional nachos. Everyone is so friendly and they're helpful when you're trying to decide what to get.Vegetarian options: There are plenty of vegetarian options. The black beans are really yummy!
Jalonda Mills: The food was good but I don’t think the food is worth the price !
Fransisco Bucio: Food: 5/5More
Nick Johnston: I absolutely love the food and service here!

Daniel Schumaker: If you don't have much of a standard for Chinese takeout, I could see you enjoying this. It certainly is food. But their fried goods are absolutely soaked and dripping in oil, and their meats are so dry. I've never gotten food from them that tasted fresh. The rice was dry and crunchy. Overall it's just not up to my standards. There are a lot of places in West Michigan that offer better food at the same price and are more authentic. This really is just American food. I like the staff a lot, they're always friendly and they are always quick to get you you're food. I hate leaving such a negative review when they've been so nice but the food just isn't up to snuff. Sorry Hunan, but until you step up your game in terms of quality, two stars is the best I can give you 😞 I hope one day this place turns around because I love this area and only live a two minute drive away. But I would tell people to avoid eating here and instead go to Lai Thai Kitchen just a couple blocks away. They really put this place to shame.

Shella Ramos: My husband and I thought we would give this place a try since our go to Chinese restaurant is closed on Tuesdays. We ordered crab ragoon and egg rolls for our appetizer and they were soaked in oil. The shrimp with lobster sauce looked like a watery egg omelette with just 5 pieces of shrimp in it. It tasted nasty!!! Our fried rice had long black hair. I informed our waitress about the fried rice issue and she asked me if I wanted them to make another one but I refused. An older gentleman came to our table and had the audacity to tell me that he thinks it was my hair that was found in the fried rice. He was very rude and unprofessional about the entire incident, he was very sarcastic and offensive. He made it seem as though I put my hair in my food so I could eat for free. I was reading all the reviews for this restaurant, I came across one other customer review on long black hair and a roach in their food. I don't recommend this restaurant at all.

trish dagle: This was a place My family went to all the time. However a recent experience left an impression. We were the only ones in the restaurant at that time. The staff were inattentive and rushed. The bill came too early before I had a chance to order a to-go item. I requested the item and thought she would just add it to my bill. Instead the manager came to our table and loudly announced "you need to pay for that!" I explained quietly that it was my intention and thought the waitress would add it. I felt like an uninvited guest. The food is not worth the headache. Used to be a great place, no more.

Tasha ann (tbaby): We had the combination rice with crab rangoons and an egg roll. It was absolutely delicious!!We definitely will be coming back.
Lisa Chang: Good Wonton Soup
jason martin: Rebowl is a great place. Cozy for dine in, we typically get party trays. They are very helpful about making selections and adjustments to customize our meal the way we want and for vegan options. We typically spice ours up a bit and after just a few trips their staff remembered our preferences and spice level! They are pretty fast at preparing a party tray.About $55 for a party tray is a great value for our family of 5. We typically get almost 2.5 meals out of one tray (we make several cups of rice at home to go with it.) Hard to get a single meal for 5 anywhere else for $55. We typically spend $70+ for pizza, or Chipotle etc.Vegetarian options: The vegetarian options cannot all be guaranteed to vegetarian (they call the vegetables not vegetarian because of this) the sauces might have some meat/fish/oyster sauce. Their VEGAN dishes are vegan. We got a party tray of Vegan Bean curd. It was delicious! I ordered as a walk-in and set down to play a 15 min game on my phone. The party tray was ready in 8 min. It was packaged REALLY well. I fumbled a bit putting it in my car and tipped the tray about 60 degrees. The foil stayed put and nothing split. But it was in a cardboard box they provided so even if it had. . Would have been in the box.
george eberhardt: By far the worst chicken fried rice I have ever had. Flavorless dry and the chicken looks as if it was boiled. Very disappointed... I'm telling uncle Roger!
Sarah Reiniche: Holy wah this food was amazing! It came hot and it was a ton of food for the money. The crab rangoon was the most amazing ones I have ever had. Definitely will order from here again!Food: 5/5 …More
Michelle Courts: My order contained fried rice of which tasted old or stale. The filling in the egg rollwas mushy. Broccoli in "beef with broccoli" was overcooked. Crab cheese ragoon tasted like they were fried in old oil. The night of & next day felt very sickThis was my 2nd time ordering..will not return
Zachary Vossen: Their food is what I compare all other Chinese too. The egg rolls are the only egg rolls in the city that my wife will eat. Sincerely love you guys!
Wendy Fain: The picture of the cashew chicken shows a white sauce, but it was served with a brown sauce that was so sweet as if it were syrup. The fried rice is just yellow rice. I’m not sure what was inside the spring roll. It was a small amount of mushy something.
Kaelyn Rae Harding: the food is always so good. seriously amazing. and great service too!! love this place
Ashlyn Schasel: Great service and food quality!Parking: Good number of spots
Juan Villarreal: The food was delicious.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Annie lynn-le: This small place is worth a try. Good food & usually plenty of it in the dinner meals. I personally don't care for the fried rice here but the rest of the food is good. They have a great lunch special Mon thru Sat till 3pm on many different choices of their food. Fast & very friendly employees. Some things are a bit pricey but what isn't I guess now days ? Give them a.try if your in the area & hungry for Chinese food.
Lindsay Faba: Just discovered this place a few months ago and love it. Have tried several menu items — all have been excellent. SO happy to finally get some good Chinese in GR!
Eli R.Torres: Would not even feed this to my dog! I order the Hunan Beef. What I got was some type of slimy, grey, "Mystery Meat" in some battery acid like hot sauce. This is not Hunan Beef. They also included a saggy spring roll. You can do better with a box of P.F. Chang's spring rolls from the frozen isle. Better yet go down to Fulton and order from Hong Kong Express much better food.
Molly Johnson: Tastes good but not quite authentic. Meat needs more seasoning but the rice and noodles are amazing.Food: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Jennifer Davis: The chicken in the fried rice is translucent. The spring roles are salty and oily. Would give less if I could bc I had to throw my whole meal away and lost the money plus $1 tip to put the bad food into the bag and hand it to me. Never again.
Abigail Beckering: Disappointed- was very excited to have a Chinese restaurant nearby, but received food very similar to a mall food court, We ordered sesame chicken with fried rice, there lots of breading and very little chicken, and lots of gristle. Fried rice was yellow in color and had no flavor. Very overpriced for the low quality of the food. Will not be going back.
Meaghan McGuire: Best Chinese food in Grand Rapids and the service is beyond what you would expect at a quick service restaurant! They are always incredibly friendly and like to have fun with their customers. Their lunch and dinner prices are unbeatable for the quality of food you receive and they work fast! My friend and I ordered probably 5 meals for a small get together and I think we waited 10 minutes for all of that food! I highly recommend! Thanks to them for always making my day better when I visit!

Dorka “Kandie” Mena-Baldwin: This is the ONLY Chinese take out place we get food from, usually the food is good but the last couple time they were mid, I really think it depends who is cooking. Today we got the shrimp with veggies. Veggies consists of broccoli, pepper, carrots and snap peas. Very disappointed with this order only got 4 shrimp. I order shrimp with veggies not veggies with shrimp. My husband got boneless spare ribs with extra meat. Food looks and taste good, rice was cooked perfectly. Just wish it was more shrimp .

Never again!!! I’ll wait for Tuesday to roll around when I get to head to China City! It’s fresh, authentic, delicious, and decently priced. They never fail to amazing me. 5/5 stars for sure!!
Brittany Lapekes: Food was delicious and hot and great portions for the small price you pay compared to other Chinese places. We will be coming back for more food today!

Lucas Wepman: Large portions of quality ingredients at a great price. I drive a little farther as places in east town are low quality (Red bowl Gen Tso blows and altho Ginza is great it is a little pricy.) China City has been consistent for me 10 year running.
