Nick Thompson: I worked here when the ownership changed. The new owner doesn’t care about his employees and can’t pay anyone enough to care about their job, so naturally things have gone down hill. He had a good staff and wasted the chance to maintain the Oades reputation. They still have a great selection, but can’t seem to keep the store stocked & customer service has suffered.
Kody Kosloski: I forget my mask from time to time while working. I bounce around different vehicles when working etc (I work automotive). I visit this location often (Old Oades). Had a staff member here throw a huge fit about me asking for a mask and begin to tell me how I shouldn't have forgot a mask and it's been over a year with the mask thing. Let me mention to you they offer them for free for this reason exactly and likely the staff member didn't buy them. Guess I'll walk the extra 10ft and goto admiral instead from now on.
bob smith: Oades oades oades... used to be the best, not just in the Lansing area but going out a good 50 miles. Hell they ordered me a couple Sam Adam's Utopia beers in past years. We've had many great years. Lately it's not the same.Good selection, no longer great. High prices, no longer a little high. And the last couple times I've been it's not the same feeling. I used to be able to go to the counter and say what I wanted and it was grabbed for me... now I've got to lead the clerk around, no more 'hey if you like that double wood maybe try this'...

Jeff Boyd: This review is for the OKEMOS LOCATION. Stopped in and asked for some specialty bourbons. He said the staff gets first pick and that it's a perk of the job so you're probably not going to find any. He also added we don't like to see just anyone get them. I asked if I could reserve a bottle since others stores I have shopped at will do so. He said maybe if you were best friends with someone who works here but I don't know you so..... sorry. Horrible customer service and store policies. I would suggest shopping elsewhere.

Daniel Puentes: On the Rocks has an excellent selection of liquors that you could want to purchase from the East Lansing area. I usually always purchase my bottles here as well as things like mixers. They have them in various sizes as well depending on your needs. I would also recommend checking our their beer selection, which has a lot of Michigan brands compared to other local spots. If they don't have something you were looking for, they usually provide spot-on recommendations otherwise as well. Come here for your next liquor purchase!

Esperanzita Bonita: Went in to get a brand of hard seltzer I like and this store carries a formidable variety of Michigan hard seltzer in addition to the more popular brands. Huge section of all sorts of spirits. The owner is so polite, super friendly. I love going in and chatting with him, the store is clean and there is so much to see and buy, no matter what you like, what your budget is, what your tastes are- they’ve got something for you.

I walked in and was greeted by the owner who was pleasant and very knowledgeable in all aspects of Bourbon.I had been asking a liquor store in Owosso, for a few bottles that they have yet to obtain. At OTR they not only had them but also introduced me to a few other items that are outstanding!If your in the area stop in and if there are any bottles left of OTR’s Backbone Bourbon they was bottled for them grab, you’ll be very satisfied!

After explaining to her how discriminatory and illegal that is, I walked in there with two 25lb weights and started lifting. Not very helpful staff either, always on their phone and distracted. If you can go to another store, do it! It will more than likely be cleaner, better stocked and with employees who don’t want to possibly pass on their gross colds or viruses to you LOL

Karmen Janecke: The worker didnt even acknowledge me. He was on the phone when he rang me up and did not say 1 word to me. I had to ask what my total was. Rude!! Will not be back.

Ev Albertson: The people leaving negative reviews don’t understand that this is a store aimed towards pleasing college students. They have good deals on everything in the store and a wide variety of products that are useful to people in their 20s. Also, the workers are always super friendly. It’s just a chill place so they do things like play music and will have the MSU basketball game on the tv screens, once again pleasing college students. If that bothers you than maybe you should go to rite aid. I have been going to this store for my needs for three years now and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I will drive the extra distance because that’s how much I love the vibe products and service.
spearfishin18: This place has beer, that's the only positive. Last time I went all the orange juices were expired. If the owners are working they will talk on the phone the entire time they are checking you out leaving you to guess when the transaction is complete.

Ashlee R.: This isn't a convenience store. It's a liquor store. 75% of the place is alcohol, the rest is just chips and candy. A partier's heaven but nothing special for somebody who needs something useful. Also, the guy who regularly works in the evening/nighttime who ignores costumers waiting at the register while he plays his computer game is extremely rude. Not sure why he still has a job.
