Krysta S: This is the first time I have ever left a review after a hotel stay but this warranted one. The room was visibly nice and that’s as good as it got. Staff was rude, the tv in my room didn’t work, and I got bed bug bites from my stay. The fire alarm was set off Sunday morning and continued to go off for about hour before anything was done. Nothing was done when these concerns were brought to management.

cathleen paciello: Wonderful visit. Friendly, helpful staff. Cecilia the mrg immediately helpful with the guest washer. Bill was simply amazing! An older guy that takes great pride in the breakfasts he makes. Homemade potatoes, eggs, bacon. Not boxed or frozen things! Clean room. Fresh lemon water in the lobby was an appreciated touch. I would come back here.

Taylor Family: April 2023 is apparently very different from prior times (lookin from looking at older reviews). We booked two rooms for our family for a basketball tournament. The entire team stayed here and we all were highly impressed with the staff. Our young men all felt that they were treated professionally, even though they are teenagers. They had a great time playing in the (small) warm (enough) pool. Team meetings were held in the lobby, where seating was ample and comfortable.The beds were firm, so if you like a firm mattress, you will like these. The pillows were soft and not super poofy/thick… Very good quality! Climate control was easy.The shower was heavenly, with ample water spray and lots of hot water (good for sore muscles after lots of basketball). The bathrooms are newly renovated, except for the tubs themselves, which do show some wear. We really appreciated having a bathtub though. Dove products are provided and were very nice.Rooms and hallways all have new carpeting and look and smell good. This was a very clean hotel. We appreciated the fridge and microwave in each room as well.The breakfast was delicious. There was fresh fruit, fresh cinnamon rolls, pancakes, bagels & cream cheese. The eggs and omelettes were quite tasty and did the job. I don’t eat meat, but the kids tore up the bacon and sausage! And, of course, they had cereal. Orange juice, coffee, hot chocolate, and apple juice were all delicious options for drink.I felt I got a lot for my money and would highly recommend staying at this hotel.

Alicia Rivera: Tried calling to reserve and the person who answered was a bit rude and hard to understand. We ended up just driving to the hotel and getting a room there instead of booking a room ahead of time. The worker at the front desk was super helpful. The room was very nice. Veery nice. Very homey. Definitely would stay here again if I passed through the area.

jamie pierce: Was here for an out of town work meeting, meeting room was small we had roughly 18 people 4-6 tables an we was all cramped together and it was overly warm in there. They did have a somewhat decent breakfast for us the bacon was great.

Ari D: I should have slept in my car. And since more words are needed to post allow me to elaborate:I reserved a king room for my stay. When we got there the guy on duty…. Let’s just say he likely is VIP at the dispensary but whatever the level under completely unhelpful is. He didn’t greet us & we were given a room on the first floor. I asked if they had any higher floors available and his response was “No” and he turned around. We went to our room which ended up being a handicapped room….. the bathroom was not clean, there was hair on the shower wall, the blackout curtains didn’t work so it was blacked out our entire stay ( we were later told that the batteries had been on back order). The breakfast was terrible, I should have just put ketchup on the snow. I have never seen such a terrible Holiday Inn Express. I do have observations about our handicapped room. 1) Why is the soap dispenser high on the wall in a handicapped room? If I am in a wheelchair I can’t get up there & wash my hands 2) If I am handicapped & in a wheelchair, how does one utilize the mounted microwave? Just eat it cold huh?I spoke with another woman there the next day who said she was a manager. She knew exactly who the worker whowas too high to care was & promised me that Blake would call me. This stay was 11/18/22 & I still haven’t heard from Blake

Blake V: Not bad, but not great.Pros-Room and bed were awesome. Spacious and bed was super comfy.-breakfast is on par for the price. Pancake machine broken.-Staff was friendly.-Toilets.Cons-No hot tub. Boo.-Lots of dings, scrapes, and dents throughout space. Floor in bathroom swelled when showering, causing door to jam and become inoperable. Cost cutting is an obvious priority.

Close to everything, walking distance to Frandor shopping but in a quiet cul-de-sac; private deck with privacy fence, our own basement with washer and dryer, even a small area to grow vegetables! Staff and maintenance crew are great too!

Jim Larue: I found myself in the Lansing area, needing a room, but without a reservation anyplace. Originally targeting a budget place like a Red Roof Inn, I learned a couple of popular shows were in town, and lots of the usual lodging was booked. That's when I found the Candlewood. The staff was very friendly. The room's features reminded me if a Hilton Garden Inn or Marriott Courtyard than a Red Roof room. My room had a kitchenette, so meals could be prepared if I had planned ahead. This would be a great place to stay for a week or a long weekend. There were some basics for sale in a lobby area, such as prepackaged cereal, milk, microwave popcorn, etc., but far better would be to bring groceries from home or hit a local grocery store. The bed was comforatable. Everything was super clean. Doug Milewski: Needed a place to stay after we arrived at our original hotel only to find the power was out throughout Kalamazoo and we needed to find another place to stay. This hotel a little out of our way but every hotel in the area was booked solid. Nice staff (a little overwhelmed with all the last-minute bookings), clean/spacious room, and very quiet. Everything I'm looking for in a hotel!

They lose a star for having no breakfast, a star for the tub being so cracked I was afraid to use it, and a star for not having any kind of business center. Poetic Oddities: My girlfriend and I have recently been displaced due to flooding and mold that was growing in our ceiling unbeknownst to us in our apartment. After much haggling, our apartment complex finally agreed to get us a hotel room for the night since our entire apartment smelled of mold. Our apartment complex was going to pay for this room until we found out that we can’t check in if you’re under 21. My girlfriend and I are both 19. After a long confusing day, I called this hotel (the one my apartment sent us to) and explained our situation. The first woman I talked to was very nice and asked for us to just wait while she transferred the line, however, the second person I spoke to was very rude and told us under no circumstances were we allowed into the hotel without “adult” supervision.I understand that rules are rules. I’m not upset that they were unable to accommodate us, but the way we were spoken to was absolutely unacceptable. Especially since we were just looking for a bit of guidance.

Location is bad as you're out from Lansing and nothing much is within walking distance. Not too bad though. Very good continental breakfast and coffee bar.Safety: No neighborhoods around the place. Emrys Williams: I would Blacklist this hotel from anyone looking for comfort and quality as well as safety.During my stay, by day 3, a housekeeper decided to remove the loose money I had in my room while she was "cleaning," and I ise the term cleaning g very lightly.I left NO note or word to let this housekeeper believe that my money was left there for their "TIP."ON THE CLEANING SIDE, the housekeeper, who is supposed to do basic items like change towels, sheets and vacuum, just re made the bed.i know this because I asked for new sheets after there was what appeared to be blood on my sheets on day 1.By day 4, the blood-stained sheets were still there, so the housekeeper stole from me and didn't even perform their functions as they should.I am in discussions with the managers of the property to resolve this.I highly recommend EVERYONE STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL.I have been traveling for over 10 years, staying in hotels across the nation and abroad and have never had an issue.So again, STAY AWAY.Safety: Not safe, the housekeeper steals, and they don't clean the rooms to a sanitary standard.

Max Romantsov: Housekeeping was pathetic. Debri and crumbs all over the place. There's no way housekeepers swept around the edges of the bathroom. Rust around the drain in the bathtub. There was at least three boogers left dangling for life on the shower curtain (gross).The bed skirt had a massive bodily fluid stain. There were perfect handprints on the headboard. I am 90% sure that someone filmed an adult film in this room. Very disappointed in the housekeeping side portion of my stay.

Crystal Dunnebacke: Bizarre smell greets you at the door. Persons at desk were polite. Strange smell travels to each floor...not sure what it was. No ice in machines on 2nd or 3rd floor. Had to go down to lobby to get ice. Not very accommodating. Rooms are nice. Decent sized fridge & microwave. Nice sized TV. Unreasonable amount of stinkbugs. Beds comfortable. Very quiet.

Alyssa Jefferson: I honestly would rate this facility ZERO stars if i could! i planned a trip back in December for my fiance's birthday. We drove 3 hours from our home to enjoy a relaxing weekend at the Holiday inn, come to find out our room that we PREPAID for was overbooked. After sitting in our car for a couple hours no resolution was found. i'm not our $189, and 3 hours away from home with no place to stay. I never received that refund till this day so i dropped it! Cecilia kept reassuring me it will be in there in 1-5 business days, never came! i move on and on march 1, Samuel charged my card for an account under the name APRIL!!!! my fiance and i immediately call to find out why i was getting charged when im 3 hours away at work. Samuel answers the phone and admits "Yes i did charge your card, you had an unpaid balance". Were in shock because 1) we never stayed there 2) why did they charge me a second time. Samuel states he is sorry and will issue a refund. March 2nd i get a SECOND charge to my debit card with a different amount. I call samuel back and he starts to get aggressive and rude, he then calls me april?! my name is alyssa!! so this whole time they had all of my debit and card information on someone else's profile!!!! i got refunded the second charge but its now march 7th and i haven't received the first charge samuel did to my card. he told me he refuses to give me a refund and to just call the police!!! so now my family has to deal with the stress this is putting us through because of the carelessness. my problem was never solved!!!!!

Carly Taylor: I initially messed up my reservation when booking online and didn't realize it until the next morning when I was leaving for my trip. I spoke to the wonderful front desk person at 6:30 in the morning and she got everything straightened out for me by the time I checked in at 4 pm. The room was great. The only complaint I had was the hot water in the shower would run out only 2 or 3 minutes in. There was a good selection for breakfast. The location was ideal since it was located close to my training facility, but I did have a 10 or so minute drive to find anything other than fast food. I would definitely stay here again.

Jessica Kelly: I booked this hotel room for my son‘s 13th birthday, which I was driving from Illinois about five hours away and I talked to the hotel about three days before I got there just to make sure that everything was OK with our booking when we got there. The pool was very dirty. You could tell where they halfway cleaned it. There was dirt around the edge of the pool they were doing some type of painting which the fumes were so bad, they had the outside door open to the pool area in the middle of winter so it was so cold the kids could hardly swim. They had tarps in the dining area and they were painting Dearing breakfast. I also rented the meeting room for his party, which was full of paint supplies, when we arrived. Definitely not worth the $680. I spent for two rooms for the weekend. Definitely not the experience I was looking for. Which any type of painting I would’ve booked a different hotel is much as I talk to them. They never mentioned it one time. It definitely ruined my son’s 13th birthday.

But we got charged forward and the manager keeps on giving us the run around. I would definitely not recommend this place.
