Fred Gibson: My wife passed away a few months ago after a lengthy battle with Stage IV metastatic breast cancer. She had a lease vehicle that I needed to have the lease transferred to my name. After months of extremely frustrating phone and written communications with the company that leased the vehicle, I finally rec'd a packet from the lease company that would allegedly allow that to occur and allow me to renew the now expired registration plate. I made a same day appt with the Sterling Heights branch on 19 Mile Rd. That was amazing of itself. I arrived early - with all paperwork in hand. I was greeted by a very gregarious lady who ckd my paperwork and directed me to a very short line. The lady I first met with was very pleasant. She was concerned the leasing company didn't send me the correct documents. You can imagine my frustration. I explained the difficulties dealing with the leasing company to that pt. She discussed the matter with the branch Mgr. -Elizabeth. Elizabeth took the time to contact the leasing company herself. She then took even more time to fax necessary documents to the leasing company. Because the plate was expired and due to the circumstances contacted her higher up to try and waive the fee for a 'temporary' plate. Even though that was not possible Elizabeth explained what I needed to do to follow up with leasing company and with Sec of State to achieve finalization of lease and plate transfer/renewal. I think she saw the tears in my eyes that I was trying to hide. She went above and beyond as did the first 2 CSR's I had contact with. Absolutely impressed. Thank you.

They let her complete the whole course and then tell her “you’re a beautiful driver but” and then fails her with one point that’s an “automatic fail”. We go to try again today and they tell us we can’t come back because I asked them about what happened and why exactly she failed. Definition of professional scammers and then ban you when you say anything about it.

World Master: They are paying for reviews, many companies do this. Me and everyone I know in this neighborhood took their test here, however this isn’t the same place it was almost a decade ago. Long story short, very ghetto. Would not recommend.

Unique Pierce: I’m going to call this review “Practice makes Progress” first of all I want to say my examiner Crystal, was polite, on-time, and very clear with the instructions throughout the entire test. The basic skills test which is the parking, I passed with a 3, which is a good score since you can only get 6. Although we started with residential streets, I failed because my turns were “too wide” and it was a safety hazard which I agree with. Accountability matters. She was kind enough to give me some advice on how I can fix these errors and offered her empathy by telling me “I failed three times for mine, you can fix this in less than a week, and my own nephews had trouble with this”. She probably could see the tears in my eyes. Furthermore, to anyone that fails, you can always keep trying… it’s not the end of the world. Keep practicing. And I can say that the next time I do the test I’ll be less nervous and know exactly what to do and expect.

Crystal nate: This place is ripping people off. Failing a few people so you can come back and pay again. The instructor said my son didn't stop at any stop signs he jus did rolling stops. I'm in the vehicle with them and know he came to complete stop but verbally conveyed to the instructor that he couldn't see if any traffic was coming so he inched up until he could visually see oncoming traffic. If he didn't stop properly why didn't she end the test? Because that clearly is a danger to us all in the vehicle and to any oncoming vehicle. Smh

Tameka Bankhead: I went in for my road test and the instructor failed me. I didn’t knock any of the cones down during the parallel parking exercise and she wasn’t thorough in explaining what she wanted. The car rental is another trick; why not just have a compact vehicle to administer the test? Anyhow, she failed me on the test you take prior to the road test and I’ve been driving for about thirty-two years. Now I’m out of seventy five dollars and why? Because although their willing to take just $25 of the money again for the rental car, why would I take the test again with the same car if I’m gonna be parallel parking and backing in to park and the cars power steering wasn’t/ isn’t what it should be?

Danyetta Harris: Horrible horrible place!!!! please do not go here for a road test. Prior to my daughters appt for her road test I went in with her to gather all necessary information. We were informed that we could use our own vehicle or pay to use theirs, and at that time we were unsure so the man assisting us told me its fine if you need to use our vehicle just let us know at the time of the appt they lied and as a result stole my daughter's money and would not issue a refund or take her driving either, complaining that it took her to long to show them a virtual insurance card which was on her phone, horrible way to run a business!

Aaliyah Ball: I went there to take my test last week. The whole experience was wonderful. From me calling up there multiple times, to me going up there in person. The lady at the front desk was awesome. She explained everything to me and gave me copies of everything that I needed. When i met my instructor (I can’t remember her name) she was sweet, she explained everything to me and gave off a positive vibe. I will tell you though, you have to pay attention to your speed and your surroundings. You have to be aware and do exactly what she say do, when it is safe to do so. She’s not there to teach you but, to watch and observe you. She will warn you and if she do take heed to that warning. Pay attention to your signs. She wasn’t on my back or made me feel uncomfortable. I honestly felt like I was driving with my mom in the car. Even if I would’ve failed, it would’ve been because of something that I did and I still would’ve gave a positive review. You just have to know how to drive the correct way and not how you want to drive.

Pamela Thomas: My old self let my license get suspended and I had to start all over again from the written test to the road test..But Excel was very professional my instructor was hard on me a little bit but I sucked it up and got that driving test passed.. and now my daughter's is scheduled for her test here... My advice to anyone watch your speed and keep that head moving side to side don't just look straight ahead..

Shane Pearse: Went to this business to take my motorcycle skills test. I went in and got it scheduled within a day. I took my test with Crystal and she was absolutely amazing. She was super informative and did a very good job explaining the instructions on the test. As a new rider to motorcycles I'm very appreciative her willingness to explain directions clearly. I 100% recommend anyone needing to get their rider skills test or any service from this business. Fantastic job 10/10!

MsMoua01: It’s always a great experience coming here. I’ve never had an issue, but now that there’s kiosk available at Kroger it definitely saves me a lot of time coming here. If you’re just wanting to get your title and registration done then I recommend the kiosk.

J B: APPOINTMENT REQUIRED at this location, NO WALK INS even if you’re disabled. Plus, Thursdays open at 10am not 9am (or at least they did today 5/4/23). Make an appointment online or call to make an appointment. If no appointment, then they will make you make an appointment inside and tell you to come back either later that day or the next day. But the workers were at least nice.

Christin Dewberry: DO NOT GO HERE. I have been to SOS in Clarkston, West Bloomfield, Southfield and even Pontiac and received MUCH better service. I scheduled two appointments for two transactions at 2 pm and 2:10 pm. I arrived in time, and was ushered to the line where I waited for almost an hour. Once I was finally called to window 4 a light skin young lady with glasses and a ponytail was sitting with a a very upset look. I greeted her and let her know why I came in. As I mentioned I have been to other SOS so I am used to a little attitude from the employees but this lady didn't even respond to my greeting. She did NOT ask for the documentation for my enhanced license and proceeded to patronize me. This lady had such a disgusting attitude I had to take the high road. But 0/10 I do not recommend this SOS I actually think they need to close it. It is poorly ran and inefficiently functioning. I hope they close.
