Carla: I went here with my husband on 04/21/2022. We are a professional African-American couple. We walked in the store and was not acknowledged. There were at least 4 employees in the store. There were no other customers in the store. No one greeted us. We walked around the entire store without anyone asking us if we needed assistance. We walked out. They are very unprofessional and I believe that they are racist. I refuse to spend one penny in that store. I was prepared to buy $20,000 worth of chandeliers. Please do not judge me based on the color of my skin. I was dressed very professional and driving a $125,000 sports car.

TM E: Went a long distance to get to this store on Friday Afternoon at 3:00 and both my husband and I were never greeted or approached during the 35 minutes inside! There were 2-3 employees and there was only one other customer but we were amazed by the lack of service. I would not bother with this store as the displays were not in abundance and the lack of service was a huge negative. I did get great service at another store called Pine Tree Lighting, which made my trip worthwhile.

Sales staff and customer service was amazing! I was able to order the exact fan I was looking for online. Even though it was out of stock for them and everywhere else, it arrived within a month. Pricing was slightly cheaper than online. Will be going to them for all future fan and lighting purchases

Have all the measurements in hand, just needed price for materials. Said they wouldn't be able to give me a quote for 3 days after wasting 15 minutes on the phone. Zero people skills, avoid this location. They show absolutely no interest in taking your money.

Sharon Gabrian: If I could leave 0 stars I could. We have had nothing but a run around since March of this year. We ordered 3 lights for our newly renovated kitchen. We were told 3 weeks for the lights. Then when that passed we were told 10 more days. Then May 15. Then we stopped there in June and we were told for sure on July 2nd. They did not call us. We called again and we were told that they came in the wrong finish. We asked for our money back and were told they would be in by today, August 6th. My husband drove all the way out there (about 20 miles for us) and he was told they were in the building and to give them 15 minutes to "check them in". He said he would leave and run an errand and return in 15 minutes. He was then told that they never said 15 minutes, it would at least be 1 1/2 hours. He had to leave without the lights. We're having company arriving tomorrow and NO LIGHTS. This company has terrible customer service. We're obviously upset that we've been waiting since March and all we get are lies.

C D: I needed to find a couple new light fixtures quickly so didn’t have time to order. The Novi and Troy stores were friendly and accommodating. I did not have the same experience at this location. The Novi sales person said if there is anything that I see that I like and it is not in stock, they will gladly sell the display. It turned out that one of the items in the color that I needed was on display at the Sterling store, so I had to go there to get it. The transaction was pre-approved and I paid for it before I got there. The Sterling sales person came out already agitated from what we else was going on in the day declaring that she needed to get out there for 20 minutes for a break. She treated me as more of a nuisance than a paying customer. She indicated that normally items have to be ordered (even though they have some things in stock) and they don’t like to sell displays because it takes 2 weeks to replace them, so I am lucky I got the one I got; I only got it because somebody was new and didn’t know and approved it. Strange, considering the Novi store was so accommodating and willing to sell any in stock items or displays (which btw, are easy to take down). I looked at some other fixtures and purchased a new boxed one that had to be picked up in Novi. I would have also bought another fixture there that was on display, but I got it from the Novi store instead. Overall, that is not the treatment I would expect at any retail store regardless of my situation and I would not return to this location.

Mark Norris: This is a neat little shop in Roseville that has been in business since the 1950's The ladies working in the shop are very friendly and helpful during the visit. As you enter the shop you see counters full of lamp parts, Decorative toppers, ect A second room is full of lamp shades and lamps for sale.They repaired my broken tiffany floor lamp in a timely manner and the price was reasonable.I would definately recommend Cook's for your repair and lamp needs.

We have had multiple lamps rewired, fixed and outfitted for shades at Cook's, including some vintage and contemporary pieces. Marsha and company are highly knowledgeable, passionate and competent at all sorts of lighting needs - both decorative and functional. I would highly suggest that you "bring it in" as there are many different sizes, shapes, styles and fittings. Don't worry - they will be able to identify it, offer options and even mock up the end results. Long-standing family businesses like this are jewels! Get your lamp on! :)

Darlene Bentley: Are you looking for lighting & need design advice? Then request any salesperson other than Sylvia. She had no interest in helping me. She was very impatient & was obviously annoyed that I was taking too long to decide. She wanted a sale but didn’t want anything to do with customer service. I needed 5 lights for multiple rooms & was not about to pick the first thing I saw in the showroom. I don’t know if she wasn’t knowledgeable in design or just didn’t want to take the time to help me. I should have asked for another salesperson but I just ended up going to a different store.

Cody Michael: I had a commercial office space redone in Sterling Heights with new roll carpet and vinyl plank flooring. I am a general contractor and have done hundreds of carpet jobs with no issue. Shelby Design Center has done, by far, the worst install I’ve ever seen. The seams are poorly done, the transition strip is uneven, beaten to death, and poorly joined, and they tracked adhesive all over the carpet while they worked. I called the company back out to review the issues and was met by the most dismissive and unconcerned person I’ve ever met in a professional capacity - Mark. He didn’t own up to any of the issues, but sent a crew to “make me happy.” They were also pretty confrontational about having to fix these issues, but they did it to an extent. They got the glue off the carpet and clipped the pulled stands from the carpet. Two months later and we have runs in the carpet all over where they failed to properly seam the carpet. They missed glue spots that I marked clearly with tape and I had to go through and clean those myself. The transition strip still looks a mess, and the vinyl plank is still popping up in places.If you want a shoddy job with no accountability and a smug, dismissive “salesman” named Mark to come and tell you why you are wrong about the “quality” work, look no further than Shelby Design Center. If you want a job done that will last longer than a week, go elsewhere and quickly.

Tracked it down in no time, and made it a seamlessly easy process for us. Everything was - yes, can do! The entire team there was so attentive, kind and professional. I highly recommend them.
