Hillary: Great coffee and food stop in GR

Jake LaMotte: Chip and the crew have cultivated a community space where excellence, art and service are the focal point of celebration. Not only that, but high quality food and coffee compliment the incrediblely decorative and inviting atmosphere. As an artist, we have never been treated as well at any other venue. The Stray is breaking the mold of how to run a music and art venue, and I'm here for it.

Ms. Gray: Good atmosphere and music and tea. I didn't love the vegan chorizo wrap - way too much chorizo and hardly anything else. But I typically don't go to a coffee shop for foodAnyway, I came here to say that I've driven by this place countless times and passed right by. I noticed the murals but that's all, the sign is tiny and blends right in.despite that, hopefully this place last, it's a great location and needed in the area.

Josmarie Ojeda: My 10 personal reasons to visit Stray Coffee Bar:- it has a modern, calm, hip, casual, elegant, cozy, dark wood with an accent of plants, artistic atmosphere.- clean restrooms.- vegan options.- asked for a custome drink, and they tried it out! (It was a simple change. I had their rootbeer instead of their gingerale added to the exspesso drink they make) so good! Try it if you dare! 😋- great customer service attitude. They go above and beyond because the team there cares about their work. I felt so touched when they offered to replace my food because they found out they missed one ingredient. (made this review because of it.)- they have a board game night. (My personal fav night) you should come!- great place to be alone or with friends.- study, and / or work friendly. (When they are open) Sadly, they aren't 24/7, but if you can get there when they are open, it's great.- it's like going to a bar, but for coffee. Yes.- they even had a latte art competition! I'll post a photo 📸 or two.Anyway, I like it.😁
Lisa Sutherland: I stumbled upon this place, and I'm so glad I did! A cozy Cafe filled with art and a relaxing ambiance. It's one of those places you could easily while away a whole day at with no regrets. The affogato is my absolute favorite coffee/dessert ever, and the creme brulee special is a must try as well. The food is fresh and tasty, I recommend the farmers wife sandwich. I tried a mango orange muffin and thought it was delicious and interesting. At some point, I'd love to attend one of the live music events.

Kevin Saxton: Simply amazing! Ronson took the time to explain their drink menu and even came by my table to make sure it was up to standard. Very clean and orderly as well, love the decorations! Looks like I've found my home at The Stray 😎🙌🏻Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Parking space Plenty of parking Parking options Free parking lot …More
Anna Engelking: It's an amazing cafe supporting local artists and musicians. Great food and drinks and the vibes are spectacular.Kid-friendliness: On the rare occasion that one of their performers isn't kid friendly, they always advertise as such. They also mark their kid friendly shows as All Ages. I love the attention to detail so you know for sure it's okay. They also have non-caffeinated beverages and iirc a pbj and a grilled cheese on the menu, along with their rotating pastry selection that kids would likely enjoy.Parking: They have their own lot with I think about 20 spaces? There's also a closed bank parking lot next to them with plenty more.Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs to enter the building, plenty of tables at different heights, all the booths have a chair side to them, wide walkways to most of the tables, and there's a ramp to the stage for performers

The Sparrows Coffee & Tea & Newsstand: what do users think?
Erin Routledge: I've been visiting Scorpion Hearts club for the last year, and here is why I stopped going there altogether. Many from Grand Rapids love this little coffee shop, formerly known as Sparrows. However, I have experienced some things and have learned a lot that puts a bad taste in my mouth. We as a community are obligated to support and protect each other and that includes making sure everyone is entitled to a living wage.In the past year, many baristas that I have come to know and talk to have left. I overheard an interview in which I learned that the starting wage for Scorpion Hearts club is $9. Ask yourself if you could live off of that. Now, you may say, but tips! "So many people tip and this brings their wages up significantly." While tipping can help, it is not promised and I do not believe that any worker should have to rely on tips to make a living wage. No one should have to rely on a stranger to tip them $3 so they can pay their bills.I have also witnessed several times where there was only one poor barista during a rush and had 10+ coffees to make themselves.I also want to point out that with the returned ownership, all the drinks went up in price, however, the workers still make $9/hr. I urge this company to take a hard look at themselves and question if they cannot pay their workers fairly, do they deserve to own a business? Multiple other small businesses AND large franchises pay a higher base rate.Besides this, there are many other instances that made me uncomfortable and turned me off of this establishment. If you are counting on the wifi to do work, you might as well never come here. On average, the wifi has to be reset multiple times in a 3-4 hour basis and I often felt like I was being a nuisance by asking them to check it. Much easier to just go somewhere where I know the wifi is reliable. I would recommend they upgrade or get rid of it all together. Please remember that small business ≠ ethical practices and I urge you to be an informed consumer. Try a different shop that treats their employees and guests fairly. The coffee is okay, but there's great coffee other places too.
Antonio Altamirano: A coffee shop with a soul. Go for the pour over dark roast and stay for the socially conscious art, books and greeting cards. One of my favorite coffee spots in Grand Rapids!
My Grand Rapids Life My Grand Rapids Life: This coffee shop is definitely one of my favorites in the area, and there are many reasons why.First and foremost, the atmosphere at Scorpion Hearts Club is absolutely fantastic. It's a cozy and welcoming space that feels like a home away from home. Whether you're looking for a quiet spot to work or a place to catch up with friends, this coffee shop is perfect. And of course, the coffee itself is top-notch. The baristas at Scorpion Hearts Club really know their stuff and take pride in creating the perfect cup of coffee every time. You're sure to be impressed by the quality and attention to detail that goes into each and every drink.Overall, I would highly recommend Scorpion Hearts Club to anyone looking for a great coffee shop in Grand Rapids. With its welcoming atmosphere, top-notch coffee and food, and friendly staff, it's the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a great cup of coffee.
Mac Wolf: i am so glad i discovered this shop! the coffee is so delicious, they have a lot of cool art and records for sale, and this place has awesome vibes all around
Noelle Loomis: Super cute shop, recommended to me by a friend. I loved the atmosphere here and there were so many cute things to buy aside from coffee and food. I ordered a lavender vanilla latte with oatmilk and it did not dissapoint!Dietary restrictions: They have plenty of milk alternatives for the vegan or lactose intolerant!

Mia Berg: Great place - definitely visit! To clarify, they used to be Sparrow’s and recently renamed, but it is still the wonderful, modern, and creative coffee shop you’re after!I went last Saturday (01/21) and the girl who took my order/prepared my drink was probably one of the kindest people I’ve met, to both myself and to other customers. She was such a pleasure to get to talk to 😊The ambiance was really cool and there is a good amount of seating—just be warned that on a weekend afternoon, they can fill up fast!
Michael (McMichael McMonkey McBean): The matcha 🍵 latte and vegan sandwich cookie were awesome.Vegetarian options: Vegan sandwich cookies and brownies.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More

Aristiaa Nguyenn: Here for those who usually get nervous when ordering or just want to know the process of it. (click to read more, it's a super long post)These pictures are their current most consistent menus. Here's the instructions on build your own boba menu for those need it:First, you should choose your type of drink. Their options for non-coffee drinks are Smoothie, Slushie, Milk tea, Flavored tea, Thai tea, Chai latte, Matcha latte, Italian soda.Next, you should choose the flavors for your type of drink (can be up to 4). The flavors for each type of drink are color coded, so you can see in the first pic, those in orange box can be flavors for Smoothie or Milk tea and those in green box can be flavors for the list specified next to it.*If you choose Milk tea or Flavored tea, you will be asked what type of tea you want as the base. They will have Green tea (Jasmine, more floral scented), Black tea (Assam, lighter smell so if you want the flavors to "pop" out more then I recommend choose this), or decaf tea.*If you choose anything under the Tea Latte's categories or Thai Tea, then usually you won't get asked about the flavors because those drinks are like the "default," you can tweak it but they're similar to pre-build drink instead of build your own. Again, you can tweak however you want=))) Another pretty straight forward drinks like that is brown sugar milk tea.*They have milk alternatives too: Coconut and Oat milks. Keep in mind that the milk they use in MILK TEA is non-dairy, lactose-free and gluten-free already. And the base for their Smoothie is lactose-free.*You can choose any flavors in the coffee section as well, just a tad bit more money. Then, you will choose the toppings/bottoms in the blue box, can mix up to 2 flavors of boba for free, but up to 3 I think they charge the same with extra boba (not sure?).*If you are foreign to these boba thingy, they offer 3 free small samples so you can try. It never hurts to ask and they were really nice about it to make sure I got the stuff I like and deserve the money spent! Then you should be done! For the coffee section, they usually guide you through it, one thing I noticed they ask for is you want 'em to be light or dark roast.*Light roast has more caffeine in them than dark roast.**Personal favorite/hidden gem for those who willing to try: (I also have a bit of a "grandma" taste so these might not be your style)-Red bean milk tea with green tea, extra flavor (of red bean), use oat milk with extra 1oz of it, and topping is red bean or boba of choice.-Wintermelon milk tea, black tea, half sweet with boba of choice.-Ginger bread cocoa hot.-Longan honey and vanilla milk tea, black tea, warm or cold either way are good.-Or just be adventurous and ask what the cashier ppl's favorite and go for it!Food wise, they're all great in general, I don't eat a lot of them but my friends like the dumplings here, seem to be one of their popular offers too. They also have something called punch card, which you'll get a punch for each DRINK you purchase and once you reached 10 punches, you'll get a free one. Punch cards are given out for free and without any need for phone numbers or email addresses so why not.Anyways, if you actually read all of these and ended up here, man, I hope this helps somewhat. Good luck!
Alexandra Tiesma: Fantastic family run boba tea shop! This shop is the OG boba shop this side of Michigan, prices are great, and staff are always so nice! They offer vegetarian and vegan options for food and drinks! Plus almost all drinks are gluten free! :)Vegetarian options: Vegetarian and vegan food items like vegan Korean dumplings! All drinks can be made vegan!
Geraldine VanSlyke: Atmosphere: 5/5More
Noah Mead: 5 stars for everything. Top notch service which although sometimes slow is because they can be busy on occasion which even more means they are so so AMAZING!!!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Larissa Martinez: My husband and I went here for the first time a couple days ago, it was a great experience. The two ladies working were very friendly and answered all of our questions. The place was very clean and cute decorated. The boba was good! We will definitely be coming back to try more things on their menu.Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Chris Bowering: Amazing place, we go here almost weekly.
Alyse Draws: I won’t go anywhere else for boba. Currently craving boba but this place doesn’t open till 2pm on weekdays and I have to be at work by 2! It would be cool if they could open just a little earlier on weekdays and close a little sooner instead!Other than that this place is amazing. I typically get a smoothie with pooping boba, and something about their boba is just so much better than any place I’ve been to. I’ve been going here since I was a freshman in highschool (2017), and they have upgraded the inside so much. I love the vibe and if I didn’t have bills I would spend my entire paycheck here! They’re good and drinks are so delicious! Would recommend 20/10!
Luke Mixon: This is such a cute store, and the staff is so friendly. The music and lighting set such a friendly environment, and they offer games and lots of seating. My best friend and I are gonna come here for art dates. 10/10

Happy Cat Cafe: what do users think?
Grace Tiesma: I loved it there. The drinks were wonderful and the atmosphere was fun and inviting. You could tell that the cats were well taken care of and the staff was very knowledgeable.Kid-friendliness: A few kids came in while we were there. I would say it's very kid friendly for kids who like cats. But it's a pretty quiet room, so it may not be very stimulating for some kids.
Myrhrai Video: Had a latte and spent an hour with the cats. Nothing beats quality well made coffee and playing with cats.Frankly, and hour isnt long enough.
J. C.: The Happy Cat café is a fun and relaxing place for all ages and is very affordable. While a reservation isn't required, it's recommended if you have a tight schedule or a large group of people.Vegetarian options: Non-dairy options are available upon request.Kid-friendliness: Children love this place and are very welcome, though anyone under 13 is required to be accompanied by an adult.Dietary restrictions: Non dairy and caffeine free options are available upon request.
Yuliana Albisu: We found this place by accident, the idea is very kind, original and the coffee is good! They have a special coffee menu, special drinks with tea and fruity; merchandise and the best part, they have shelter cats in a designed space for people to go and adopt them.Highly recommend this place, Sri by and get a coffee or help somehow buying merchandise. 💗💗💗💗🐈🐈🐈🐈
Amanda: Peaceful, quiet place to hang out. I enjoyed the Nutella Neko coffee. It was the middle of the day so several cats were sleeping, but I got to play with a couple of playful cats. Would go back again for a relaxing time.Parking: Parking lot next to building had ample spaces
Benjamin Buzzard: Went for one of their after hours events (Cats and Canvas). It was a great atmosphere, friendly customers and staff.Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Lavender Lynx …More
Cody Larriviere: Fun little cafe just outside of downtown. Be sure to get a reservation to guarantee a time to play with all the cats.
Rosko Barnett: Luv cats
Katie Baxter: I was there before the reopening, as a volunteer with Fig and Friends Pet Rescue when the first cats were brought into the space. It looks absolutely AMAZING, and the new wallpaper is just too adorable! Can't wait to spend some volunteer time at the cafe!Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Ezra Richter: The best place to relax. Wish there were a few more decaf options, but everything is impeccable regardless from the kindly staff to the amazing merch! If I didn't have cats at home I would be tempted to make this a place to go every day (they can only handle so much jealousy when I come home smelling like other kitties ;) )!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Nutella Neko, Blackberry Panther, Lavender Lynx Parking options Free parking lot, Paid street parking …More

Brickstreet Sprite: Me and my 4 year old daughter loved this place. She had fun with the kitties and the shaken latte wasn't bad either. Will definitely be back.Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
chris kopecky: Happy Cat Cafe partners with Michele's Rescue to find new homes for shelter kittens. You can stop by for a latte and use the free wifi like at any coffee shop while observing the cats through a giant picture window. Or for a more immersive experience you can sign up for an hour inside the cat room, $15 in January 2023, which typically hosts 6-8 cats available for adoption. You'll spend time with any or all the cats that to see if you have a "cat connection" and want to bring one home. Or you can also just have a kitty visit while supporting a good cause, especially if your current living situation is not conducive to bringing a new cat home. Inside the cat room they had lots of toys available, cat-centric TV programming and several perches and cozy nooks for the cats to relax in. There was a helpful bulletin board with little bios on each cat. I would suggest visiting earlier in the day as by mid-afternoon most of the cats seemed like they were ready for a long nap.

Madcap Coffee Company: what do users think?
Matthew Taub: Excellent Cappuccino. Good atmosphere with friendly and fast service. Highly recommend going here over Starbucks.
Jackson Brooks: There are some really great things about this cafe. The location and atmosphere are great. And the baristas were really friendly and knowledgeable. I got their coffee flight, which came with an espresso, black coffee, and a small milk based drink. The milk drink was very good, but unfortunately both the black coffee and the espresso were very underextracted. So I can't say I was impressed with the drinks themselves. I also bought some beans which were excellent, but also double the price of the comparable beans I buy from amazing roasters back home. So in summary, great location, staff, and beans, but they need to dial in their drinks, and I don't know if I am willing to pay their premium prices.
J Kremer: Typical downtown coffee shop. Quiet place to sit and relax. It is a bit more expensive than other coffee places around.Buyer beware; if you get a coffee to go, it will be much smaller than what you would normally get in store. You can see it in my photos. They were the same price and "same size." Definitely not worth it.
K W: The coffee was great, atmosphere was uncomfortable and workers not very friendly.Food: 5/5|Service: 1/5|Atmosphere: 1/5 …More
Michael Taillard: Average, at best. Above average pricing.Food: 2/5|Service: 3/5|Atmosphere: 3/5 …More
Cody Larriviere: Great coffee and atmosphere
Bob D: Very loud, poor service. No where to sit.
Ron Reed: This is the original Madcap in Grand Rapids. It is a little different than the Detroit ship, but a great place to sit for a coffee and work on your laptop for a few.Food: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Briana Mohan: Can't ask for anything more. Top tier baristas with an approachable vibe. Delicious coffee and accompaniments. Sponsors local artists.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
J S: First time in here, had a House of Jupiter and Vanilla latte, would definitely recommend! I will be coming here when I’m in town
mariah: Was very good. But expensive
Jason Dadah: Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Drip Coffee, Coffee FlightMore
Taressa Van Dam: My friend got the the something yam latte. It sounds weird but was actually really good. Came with little roasted marshmallows on top 🤩
Michelle Strain: Coffee is always outstanding here!
Jayla Wesley: can’t go a week without a visit to this cafe. baristas and staff are phenomenal and super sweet. their espresso (available to purchase as well) is top tier. I noticed that I am picky when it comes to espresso and coincidentally out my two favorite coffee shops in GR, both use the La Marzocco espresso machine. If that means anything to you this is your place, if it doesn’t stop in anyway to taste what I’m talking about. I do recommend coming in earlier though, this place is a hot spot on the weekends especially. and try the cafe miel! It’s a favorite i can’t get away from.p.s. they don’t charge you for alternative milk options. I never understood the insane up charge for milk that actually suits my stomach, here you don’t have to worry about that
Joe Escareno: What nice place to relax and enjoy something to drink!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Ben Sherwin: Fantastic specialty coffee. Always a stop i prioritise when in town.
