I needed to go to Detroit for the weekend in preparation for my college graduation and at first something wasn’t working but she took her time and figured it out and I was able to get the rental and go home for my appointments and come back for graduation. She was really the glue to my entire weekend and the only thing I kept telling her was thank you because without her I would not been able to travel 2.5 hours to go back home for my appointments. The cars are always old, dirty and with high mileage and the people that work there are rude and very unprofessional and especially the manager that I spoke to. I rent cars all of the times but this will be my last choice.I reserved a premium car and when I arrived to pick it up, they said that the only premium car available is a 2020 charger with very high miles and dents on the sides. I looked inside the car and it had stains all over the seats. Normally premium cars will have leather interior but this one was fabric and very dirty too.Beware of renting from this location. I asked for a different car and all what they had available is a couple of compact cars that will not work for me. Why would I pay and reserve Premium car and accept a compact car?

Alajia Cherry: Until recently, I have never had an issue with Enterprise vehicles. However, while driving my most recent rental, the transmission went out while I was exiting the highway. I barely had enough time to get to the side of the road before the car completely stopped. My 4 year old son was with me and we could have been in an serious accident. Although Enterprise sent a tow truck, they said because we were in "an unsafe location", they could not send an uber to take us to the nearest rental location. They told me to call local authorities to move us to "a safe location" so that they could then send the uber. I called 911, no one came, so the tow truck driver gave my son and I a ride to the nearest Enterprise which only 5 minutes away (my destination was 6 min away). After waiting 10-15 min at Enterprise, they gave me another car that had a weird smell in it and a mysterious stain in the trunk. This experience has put me off of Enterprise.

I booked a car and was notified after arriving that the car that I booked was no longer available, and I would have to pay more for a larger car and addition to paying more for a larger car, the car was filthy, and it was a dirty paper towel stuffed in the door secondly, the car also smell of cigarette smoke. I notified the employees of the dirty car and was met with disrespect. I highly recommend do not rent from this location.

Although they would not accept any of my Visa or Mastercard debit cards because they had debit card printed on it. I had to go through a big hassle transferring funds to provide a credit card with the amount needed for the reserved rental because I didn't have proof of flight travel. Over all the experience was very nice.

Avis Car Rental: what do users think?
N Smith: I asked if the info could be sent through text instead of email like Enterprise & he said yes. I asked bc I don’t always have WiFi to check email & it takes forever to load. I never received it through text just email which I couldn’t open. I had to correct him twice on pick up/drop off and he still entered the info wrong. I wouldn’t have even known it was wrong if I hadn’t called from work on Friday. I called bc he never confirmed 6pm or midnight. This is when I was told it was due back on Thursday at midnight! I wasn’t given any helpful info like a receipt w/my info. I work Monday-Friday and while my vehicle was getting thetransmission replaced I didn’t want to go without or have unreliable transportation for the week. Plus the auto shop couldn’t tell me how long refurbishing my transmission would take so I may need another rental for the following week. He never once asked for my insurance information, or when asking when I’d like to return the vehicle explain the 24hr billing, hourly billing, or anything helpful to a new customer. He hand’s me the keys and nonchalantly tells me where to find the vehicle. My supervisor and I search for the vehicle and immediately notice how dirty the outside of the vehicle is. As we’re getting into the vehicle we noticed immediately the wet dog & cigar smell plus all the dirt, debris, and animal hair covering the inside of the vehicle. Due to my children and I having severe allergies & asthma, I vacuumed as much of it as I could as well as bought air fresheners to hang. We couldn’t drive with the windows down or even cracked because it would loosen up what the vacuum left behind. Although this was bad, the customer service I received was far worse! With Enterprise you don’t have to worry about anything bc they thoroughly fill you in & are extremely informative & helpful. I was told to call cs & tell them what happened especially bc the new employees get flustered. All she did was argue I was wrong. Worst experience of my life!!

We are EXTREMELY dissatisfied with AVIS. I can't give a 1/2 star. We will NEVER rent from AVIS again, there are other companies out there with better service.

Adrianne Adelle: Staff is INSANELY unhelpful and unfriendly. They keep their own times and when you put a pick up time they will refuse you because they are "closed". If you ask to speak to a manager they will refuse. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Not only did they not have a car available for our reservation that we booked in advance, but we were the FOURTH person in less than an hour to not get a car.None of us got them, all of us were treated extremely rudely by the woman at the front desk. She was wildly unhelpful, offering no other solutions other than charging an additional 20% per day to “upgrade” to a van.Not only did she refuse to help, she refused to offer any other solutions, and then told me I had to leave and threatened to CALL THE COPS when I said to my husband “This is why they have a 2 star review.” WHAT? I told her “I’m stating a fact that anyone can see on the internet.” And she said “if you’re going to be negative, I’m going to call the cops.” WHAT? What customer service is that?Do not rent here. Don’t. I know Enterprise is like $30 more per day, but pay it. You will NOT get a car at Budget or Avis. They have no idea what they’re doing, what’s in stock, or anything. The people at Enterprise next door told us this happens ALL THE TIME and they constantly have customers that walk over BECAUSE they don’t get cars at Budget or Avis.Truly, I’ve had food poisoning more enjoyable than dealing with the staff at Budget on 28th St. Do NOT go here under any circumstances.
Mary Wetherby: Do NOT use this location! If I could, I'd rate this place zero stars. I've rented cars before, many times through the years, and this by far was the absolute worst. I rented a mid-size car and the piece of junk they tried to give me had cigarette burns on the upholstery, dash, and passenger door. It smelled awful, but the real deal breaker was the way the front end shook when driving down the road at 50 mph and higher. Then, as if that wasn't unsafe enough, the tires were bald. There was less than 1/4" of tread left on 3 of the tires and maybe 1/8" on the 4th. Unbelievable. I tried to return it but the sales lady was unhelpful and quite rude, telling me she had nothing for me, but I could drive to the airport to see if they had anything. Mind you, I'm driving my daughters and I through the mountains down to Savannah, Georgia the next day and I really need something safe, not the pile of garbage they tried to give me. Marty at the airport was unbelievably kind and gave me a fantastic, clean, and most importantly, SAFE vehicle. My girls and I had a wonderful spring break due partially to Marty's kindness. Do NOT go to the 28th Street Budget location, go to the airport. I wish I had...

When we arrived the worker wasn’t there and the facility was locked. No note or phone number. Because we had a conference to attend in Milwaukee, a pressing schedule, our friends then drove us to the airport Budget where we waited in line only to discover they wouldn’t honor the price quoted in the reservation and would charge us twice as much. Then a fellow customer, who happened to leave a note at this first place, received a call that the lady finally arrived. So our friends drove us back to the original place. When we expressed the inconvenience and the expectation that she would provide some compensation for our inconvenience, she rudely stated, “It was an honest mistake. I will not compensate you.” She proceeded to drag her feet in processing our reservation, and her rudeness culminated in telling my wife, “I’m through with you! I am not renting to you!” Unbelievable. I was shocked, and I’m still worked up thinking about this 4 months later. I’m sure this woman has been fired by now. She eventually honored our reservation and rented “to me, but not to [my] wife.” After that we were finished with Budget. You lost a customer, Budget. One lousy independent franchise has tarnished your name for all the others. I now rent from National.

Got to the office to pick up my car and the counter worker said i needed the card I used to pay the reservation. Gave her the card and she said no this isn't the right one. I told her it was the one I used. She ran it twice and then got "Locked out" of her system. Told me there was nothing she could do I would have to call customer service. I called and was on hold for 30 minutes until I hung up. I asked her to call customer service and said she can't. Zero customer service and zero care if I got my rental or not. Went to Enterprise and was out the door in 10 minutes. I will never rent from Budget again. Had isssues last year with the Alpine location and thought using another location woulld be better. Not. Told by 1 customer rep the refund would be 3-5 business days. Been 5 and now they are saying up to 14 days to refund.

Laquinta Thomas: I rent cars at enterprise often because I have a discount code through my job. But this last time I went they said my code was different or something. Basically when I booked with my discount code they gave me the wrong price and my rental ending up being triple the amount , not the amount when I booked . I don’t kno why it change all of a sudden when I get there and not change online while I was booking. It was very last minute and it just didn’t sit right with me. I should’ve at least got the rental at the price I booked it at. And if that was a technical problem then it should be fixed because I was expecting one price and ending up paying way more than expected. I don’t think I’ll be renting through enterprise again just because of that. I’ve been going through enterprise for years now and that never happened before ever.

I’m very ticked off 😡 So after a 14 hour day of working, I pull into my driveway at dark to have three police officers run up to my car before I could even get out of the car door to slap handcuffs on me 😲 saying I’ve been accused of stealing a rental car, which Kia has been renting for me since August when the engine went out on my car that I am still making payments on and have an extended warranty on. We picked up the rental in August from Enterprise with no specific return date because because how would we know when our car would be finished, the last time we communicated with Kia they were still waiting on a part to fix our car, on the 13th of this month my husband drove to Kia to make sure Enterprise was informed that we were still in need of the rental because our car was not repaired yet ( which took place) so then my husband drove the car to Enterprise so they could check out the car and see everything was fine and check the car out as they needed, we thought everything was fine. We’ve communicated with Enterprise when ever they had a concern on how long it was taking to bring the rental back, which had no specific return date, after all how was I supposed to know how long it would take for a dealership to fix my car. I am very unhappy with Enterprise who supposedly leases cars to Kia frequently and should know that you can’t give a specific date on when a repair might be completed specially when parts are taking longer than usual to be delivered. This is the Enterprise car rental on Plainfield in Grand Rapids that did not communicate with in there own company and with Kia to find out what was going on and had a grandmother that was simply trying to getting herself to work and back taking care of handicapped people that can’t take care of themselves handcuffed in front of her grandchildren because this company is not communicating amongst themselves. The rental was taken away last night, leaving me with no transportation to get to my disabled clients 😩 All because of poor communication between the dealership who is paying for the rental and Enterprise staff, please be aware this could happen to anyone, if you don’t believe me just go to utube and search wrongful car rental arrests 😡 I am very upset and expect Enterprise to do the right thing and correct all there mistakes so I don’t have to pursue this legally

That Michigan Guy: Rented a car for a week while my truck was being repaired from an accident. Everything went great. The manager is a really great guy and helped a ton. All the staff was professional. Highly recommend this place.
Alternate Reality: Manager of the store is amazing, spent over half an hour helping me get the lowest rates for my vehicle. Took a few thousand mile road trip for a week with one of their Buick Enclaves and it performed amazingly. Highly recommend this location for their customer service!

We did receive the car with only between 1/4 to 1/2 tank of gas and contract said we needed to return it full. We did not realize this till after a day later so did not mention it at the time and returned the car full. After mentioning it on return of vehicle the representative verified that it was not full with pictures at time of rental and reimbursed for the difference. Again very friendly and eager to please and very quick worker not a snail speed work like other places. Thanks Again! will come here next time we need to rent a vehicle.

If your car breaks down and you need an emergency ride to the hospital. Calling an uber might be a better bet on short notice than trying to rent a car. It is a tough situation, but approving you to let you drive an expensive vehicle is a lot more risky than someone giving you a ride in the back seat. =)

MICHELLE G: I've seen the other reviews about rental policies and cars not being at the location (although getting a call in advance to let you know is actually more than I've ever gotten!) but this review is about the EXCEPTIONAL customer service at this location. I rented in another city/state 750 miles away when I had some major mechanical issues with my Avis rental...on a Monday morning. Of course, the worst timing possible for work travel and the pressure of business meetings. BUT the folks at this location were not only concerned for my time but for my SAFETY. Multiple times, the owner/operator who overheard me talking to her exceptionally friendly counter staff person, the word safety was used as they tried very hard to work around their inventory limitations (the airport location had just taken 6 cars from them that morning) to get me a different vehicle. I'm not saying they can always do magic but I can say, if they are able to do it -- THEY WILL. Not only was everyone friendly and concerned for my situation but when I got my replacement rental, the porter/lot attendant helped me move all my tools and stuff to my new vehicle. I rent cars all over the USA and have never found a more friendly, committed to excellence branch of ANY car rental company anywhere. There were three I could try - I tried this one first and so glad I did! Bravo and thanks so much!!!
