Provin Trails: what do users think?
KMH: Trail range from easy to steep. Dogs must be on a leash.Dog-friendliness: Dogs must be on a leash.
jsamm517: Very relaxing hiking area
Hannah DeVore: A pretty small park but you can walk around and through in a variety of ways. It has some beautiful pines that are perfect for hammocking in and a sand dunes too! The only negative for me was the large amount of ground bees in the center of the park.
Ke'Lannie Rockett: Love this trail. There are open areas to walk, steep hills and trails in the woods. Great peaceful place to unwind.
Tim Lyle: Keep your dog on a leash!!!! People and other pets get hurt because of your negligence and irresponsible pet ownership. It is the law and signs are posted right smack in front of your face as soon as you pull in. If you get a ticket because you choose not to do so, I'll be smiling at you from ear to ear.
zachery goodin: Great spot for walking the dog
Jerry Turner: Wonderful trails. Beautiful forests.
Johnny Lott: Love it great place
Christine Miller: Loved it, looking forward to visiting often.
Jerrad Hoxie: Great hiking trail. Easy to moderate difficulty level. There are multiple trails that all circle back so if you break from the trail sooner you will have a shorter hike.
V Coffland: Beautiful l park, I see families getting photos taken every time I come here, and there are awesome hills for sledding & other winter sports
teri vander jagt: These trails are amazing, there's everything from a nice walk, to a tough hike! Love it here so beautiful...
Mary Pearson: Nice trails close to town. Not clearly marked and could be challenging for some. Love the natural beauty of this place.Restrooms: PortableDog-friendliness: Leash required
Sally Wesorick: Short beautiful wooded Trail in the city. Surprisingly includes a sand dune. Dog friendly. No restrooms, picnic area , or playground.
Jeff Prins: Great little patk
Aaron Lehrman: I'm going back! This park was awesome to walk through. The sand gave it a feel like a beach. Many of the trees are neat and in a row making for a pleasant sight. I can't wait to see it in winter.
Rebecca Wemple: Nice trails, can't get lost. They could be marked better. When the leaves are falling they can hide the trail. Enjoyed it even in the rain.
Cody Hager: Great little place to get out and walk. Awesome experience for dogs or kids as well.
Jake DeLauro: Great fall colors here! So interesting to have the sand dune right there too!
Sara Slagell: It is a beautiful park, unfortunately the trails are not marked well. If you like to blaze your own trail than this one's for you!
Samantha Laube: Very pretty trail, but quite a lot of foot traffic. Don’t wear sandals as it is super sandy!

Crahen Valley Park: what do users think?
Halisi McCoy McCoy: Beautiful park. Nice walking trails both paved and dirt.
Benjamin Kiaunis: A great place for a short hike.
Bhavani Ananthan: Lovely little park with a beautiful trail for walking and biking.. No play area for kids..
Marc Reigler: Huge park, lots of trails to discover.
Tim Kuiper: This is the go-to place near Grand Rapids to get out in nature without spending too much in gas. Diverse landscapes, ponds, creeks, swamp, it has lots.
Richard Dunnuck: Great scenic Park with paved and natural trails. Lower ravine contains a pond, while upper probability has a lookout over the ravine.
Dawn Larsen: It was ok ,more for exercise.
Neil Carlson: One of the very best places in metro Grand Rapids for a hike on a beautiful day. Don't miss the overlook just north of the parking lot on Leonard and the wandering stream at the bottom of the valley. The long straight road down hill into the valley is in the treeline northwest of the be parking area. It's covered by trees and level, but it can be tiring to climb out for those of us dealing with health and fitness issues, and the many trails through the trees are unpaved and fairly rough and narrow.
Evan Post: Wow! This is a beautiful park. It has a quarter mile paved loop around a large field, with picnic benches and benches, a grand view of the valley, and a neat wooden bridge. Then you can go down into Crahen Valley on unmarked hiking trails and explore creeks, forest, and a pond for over an hour without seeing all the trails. But you’ll probably see some deer! There is no trail map and no trail markers so be prepared to find your own way in the valley!
Jean Weinrich: Biologist/conservation & bird enthusiast students here, had an exceptional walk over bridged streams into a deep valley. Great views and many different ecozones made for a wide array of bird species/tree species!
Susan E: Nice park to walk in
Jessica Griffiths-Ritzke: Playground: No playground, just a walking parkDog-friendliness: A lot of dogs here frequently
Mercedes Giorgio: Hermoso lugar 🤗
Debra Harding-Vanaman: Love the "off road" hills.
Kim Gage: Great hike but trail markers would be very helpful!!
pauline Sandoval: Still being developed as a park. Does have walking trails and beautiful flower plantings.
Andy Kaiser: You will come for the dog walking and / or solo / family hiking on miles of spiderwebbed unmarked trails through the woods and fields... but you'll stay for the dog walking and / or solo / family hiking on miles of spiderwebbed unmarked trails through the woods and fields.
Sam Chapman: A real adventure! One of the best trails I've ventured on. A hidden gem, really. The steep hills will work your legs - Unmarked and leaf covered trails make it easy to get off the path... luckily GPS works out there! I downloaded AllTrails to keep us on track!
Leslie Schlaack: This is a gem in the Grand Rapids area. So happy to find this place. Could use some more trail marking signs overall but definitely recommend checking these trails out.
T Raw: There were many trails to explore. Dog friendly as well.Dog-friendliness: I personally took my own dog here for the first time and she absolutely loved it. Met a handful of other dogs on the trail too.Picnic area: Plenty of tables along the main paved trail for a picnic.
Ann Hackney: This is a pretty quiet place.steep climb if you go below

Charlie and Danna Harag: Fun place to visit. Wonderful natural plants and flowers. Many scenic views.Unimproved dirt trails with limited markings numerous steep sections. The North section of trail D has the easier inclines to traverse. In season, protect yourself from mosquitos.
Kelly Vanderwell: Wonderful place to walk! Watch out for mosquitoes tho due to standing water.
Brenda Blamer: Loved the park!Very BIG for Grand RapidsWe were surprised at how untouched it was being in the city!
Alyssa Goch: Long wide rolling trails and a lot of technical variance
Jackie B: We really enjoy walking this park with our dogs. The few times we have visited, everyone has had their dogs leashed which is nice.
Amanda R: A favorite walking park!
Sheri Monroe: Such a beautiful park/walking trails with gorgeous woods, a huge ravine with a flowing creek at the bottom. So much to look at and the trails are great!
Ms. Kristy Katcha: I love this park. The trails are gorgeous and lots of wildlife
Jessica “Jessie” Sheridan: Loved the serenity

Alex Feravich: Nice easy loop trail
raven Lenore: Went in a group hike here in 1/21/23 a great time was had by all. Nice park
Kendra Bearss: Gorgeous, as always
Michael Bieri: Great place for hikes or casual walks. Lots of flora & fauna. Can be muddy in the winter or after a rain.Restrooms: They have port a potty's available.Dog-friendliness: Bring your dog clean up bags, but great place for dogs.Picnic area: There are a couple random spots with picnic tables on some trails, but not very many, so maybe bring a blanket.
Troy Lawson: Excellent place to hike the trails or walk your dog and watch for wildlife. Great walks any time of the year.
Marissa Stevens: Smaller local park. Certain times of the year there are beautiful flowers everywhere. Only an outhouse to use. Mainly just for walking trails not really a picnic area.
Amber Brown: Quiet little nook for a quick hike.
Terry K: Out of the nature parks in and around GR, this one is the best by far.
Evan Post: Love love love the trails here. Plenty of long loops and trails to explore and the creek is beautiful to sit by. The map is accurate and signage on the trails is easy to follow. Also, the wildflowers in the spring and summer are beautiful, and there are lots of frogs, snakes, and other critters to find. Plan for mosquitos in the summer.
Elkin: Beautiful park.

Knapp Valley Forest: what do users think?
Kyle Crandall: Nice wooded trails, some steep areas, but fun to explore!
Bill Cleveland: Knapp Valley Forest, as one of the Kent County Parks, provides a natural respite a little smaller than Christopher Robbins 100 acres. The woods are pleasant with a park like setting, with nary a thicket to traverse. The trails are clear, often revealing the sandy soil. The biggest fault is finding the trailhead and signage of trails and tree identification. It appears the sign makers confused their red and white oaks. The trails aren’t well marked and do not easily correspond with the trail map on the website. Thankfully the near urban location provides plenty of connectivity to find your way along the distinctive property boundaries found in Google maps. Plenty of dogs walkers, so be advised as you enjoy this gem of nature.
T DZ: Nice place to walk.
Lisa Hogan: Nice trail but got lost... Follow signs, I didn't.
Rachel Ouderkirk: Beautiful place to go on a walk, easy trails make it easy to not get lost
Karen McBurney: Great place to hike with friends, family, and dogs.
Seth Pronger: Beautiful winding trails behind the elementary school. Do not go where the address takes you. Pull into the parking lot of Knapp Valley Elementary School and the trailhead will be on the other side of the baseball field. Amazing fall colors through the wooded area and a great place to walk your dog. Trails aren’t very long so it’s a nice place for a 30ish minute hike. It’s a hidden gem (literally it’s a bit hard to find) but definitely worth it for some nature exploring and even some plant identification signs for you to absorb some knowledge.
Daisy Fu: Beautiful forest if you can find the entrance.Kent county parks website says "To access the main trailhead, use the parking lot on the north side of Knapp Valley Forest Elementary School and follow the path around the back of the school’s ball diamond.". There was a sign shown the county park approaching the parking lot of the elementary school. at the end of the parking lot, there is a path on your left hand behind the fence, just follow it, you will find the entrance of the trail.
jason bierema: Hard to find entrance. Could use some better signage. But nice short loop with lots of incline and tons of sasafras for chewing.
Jesse Safford: Short hike in a neighborhood area. Pretty easy walking.

Ken Saville: Addresses are very well visible seemed clean and people were friendly watch for kids there all over go slow in there !!
Robert J Barrera II: Went in the spring time...average trails
Aaron Stek: This is a great hidden gem of a park with a lot of variation in terrain and one ridiculously large and seemingly out of place house. I enjoy hiking here with my family throughout the year.
Michael Pawlik: Nice park for a nature hike. It's a wooded park surrounded by suburban homes at the edges.
Lori Clark: Clean city park
William John Ross: A great trail for walking.
Cody S.: It feels kind of like "hiking" in some rich person's backyard. But there are some nice grass trails and a nice wooded area where I setup my hammock. Not bad over all, if you just looking to be outside and walk. Not much else to do here otherwise.

Ken-O-Sha Park: what do users think?
Aleigha McKinley: I loved this trail. Very easy walk since most of it is paved. But there’s plenty of trails that branch of into dirt paths if that’s what you prefer. We did pass a few people walking their dogs or on their bikes, but for the most part it’s peaceful and quiet, and the scenery is amazing.
Grant DuBridge: Great walking path along Plaster Creek. Wildlife surrounding you.
Nick W: Plenty of parking, the school is there for overflow.Parking lot and most of the trails are decently maintained, but there are a good amount of unhoused people living off the trail and it appears county workers struggle to keep up.
Kate Bek: This place has been a quiet, beautiful gem since I was a kid. Trailhead parking is marked off Kalamazoo Ave. - the lot is at the elementary school. Dogs are permitted but must be leashed. There’s a port-a-potty at the trailhead. Not all trails are accessible by wheelchair, but you can park and go a good distance on the main, paved trail.
Jonathan Shelley: This is my favorite walking trail in Grand Rapids. Wide, paved path as well as countless trails through the trees. Interesting installations and signs.
Bill Cleveland: A gem of Grand Rapids. So wonderful that we have a park that we can visit and amble along the banks of a creek and enjoy the trees and wildlife. Visiting in the winter after a thaw and then subsequent hard freezes, the trails were a bit icy just like the sidewalks around my home.
Steve Johnson: Nice little park with trails and a stream. One illegal camper/homeless shack really ruined it, otherwise would be 3 or 4 stars.
carl kridler: My daughter loves the swings. And playing with the other children.
John R: Be careful!
Jeremiah Cruz: Fresh air
CodyK: A decent little park with a couple of trails sprouting off the main trail. The creek running through it is peaceful.
Senada Delic: Walking trails are amazing!
clear as water: Really pretty 🌟🌟🌟
Aaron Lehrman: A little awkward to find and park, but great trail.
Darla Spoors: It was a beautiful and refreshing walk.
Jessica Fields: Well maintained walking path. Very pretty
Bhavani Ananthan: Love this park.. Bigger play area for kids, basketball 🏀 court, and a nice walking trails into the woods.. Fall season visit is best
Zach Morrison: Great gem in the middle of the city. Nice place to escape to nature.Playground: At school next to parkRestrooms: Outhouse styleDog-friendliness: Great place to walk dogs. Has doggie bags available.
Samuel Mayes: awesome park!
High Class Genetics: Large wooded park good for taking your dog. Lots of mushrooms. Creeks and little streams . Also an abundance of deer

Ball Perkins Park: what do users think?
Tierney Pierce: Restoration of our wetlands is vital to our community! This park shows us a sneak peek into what was a much more vast wetland that is now small and surrounded by homes and a apartment complex. It's a beautiful park and a really good trail. We definitely need to see more wetlands being restored like this.
Ann Hackney: Nice short quiet walk
Michael Noah: Good
Hannah M: Nice little trail though the woods. Very muddy in the spring!
Jo Wilcox: Beautiful
Shelby Denhof: Pros: good for birdwatching and there generally aren’t a lot of people here; it’s a pleasant walk in the woods with clearing defined trailsCons: it’s a very short walking trail and I’m sure visitors wish it was longer
Juliea Doulia: Great spot to go for a walk!!
Mark Boehler: Great trail beautiful place to spend my lunch birdwatching
Ron Houtman: A great place to take a walk and see where all the city deer hang out.
Amelia Adkins: I love this park. It's in a great place and I have seen some amazing things on this trail from deer, ducks, black squirrels, a fox, etc. I am always on this trail to run it. It's not a far course but it work. I love the pond It's a nice site everytime. Also the community garden is so cute and you will always find someone working hard in it.
Feryal Alayont: Nice park that has been "preserved as a natural area" according to the city description. There is a neat, mostly natural trail that cuts through the park from Ball to Perkins. Only a small bit is paved. In the east-west direction, it is 0.55 mile long. There's a 0.09 mile stretch that extends to the wetland overlook. There are three benches along the trail, and two at the overlook. At the Perkins end of the trail, there is also a community garden. There are quite a few parking spots but pretty much all are marked as "gardener parking only". I didn't see any marked spots for park visitors.
Dave Meekhof: This is a great walk for the family & dogs through a nice wooded area. There is a nice deck overlook of a pond. Also there's an awesome community garden.
Rick Rees: Used the hiking trails not the ball park. The trails were fantastic and dog friendly with a leash of course. A vere nice find. Almost all board walk. Will go back there again.
Dee Dee: A beautiful little trail in the city. There were a dozen Great Egrets in the little wetland and several deer along the trail.
Robert Fugate: Nice half mile walk down to the wetlands and saw a handful of deer
Ray Garnett: This small park is nice and the trails lead through a cozy wooded area. It also has a community garden out front. Parking is limited or it would have received 5:stars
Beverly Mapes: Nice easy trail. Quiet. Saw a deer that wasn't very fearful and a duck with several ducklings.
Cedric Tenorio: Nice place
Stacie Jones: Great trail through the woods.
Rebecca T.: Really beautiful park. It feels like you are in the middle of a forest even though you are actually right in the city. I went geocaching here and there were 5 stops to make.
Ken Katerberg: The park has a nice crushed stone trail and a restful area to look out over a pond on the property.
