After about a day they called and told me my transmission is bad and it will cost almost $12000. Everyone I asked said that was excessive for a transmission repair first of all, and second the worse part is after I got a second opinion they said it wasn’t even my transmission it was a electrical issues and I got the issues fixed for $1137 and my Jeep has been fine since..DONT TELL SOMEONE SOMETHING LIKE THAT IF YOU DONT KNOW FOR SURE BECAUSE NOW YOUR EITHER A LIER OR YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING!Service:Auto engine diagnostic

Katie Holloway: DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!!!Especially if you are a female (young or old).I was recommended from an oil change shop to bring my car here. I was told that the staff members are good people and that they all go to church together. I was also told that they wouldn't take advantage of me because I'm a young female in college or screw me over.I ended up bringing my car here last week, and they essentially wanted to replace a sizable portion of my transmission, with a $4,500 estimate. I took it to another shop in Grand Rapids because this didn't seem right to me, and they claimed that both their estimation and the problem were entirely incorrect. In the end, I just had to replace a little component for only $500.Seeing other reviews for this shop this doesn't seem out of the blue from this place to do this to people.Please save yourself the $150 inspection fee and excessive (and false) estimate prices from this company. It disturbs me to think that they intended to use a young female (or anyone else) for their financial gain.

Delaney Carlson: Easily the worst auto shop in grand rapids. We brought our car in for some front end work, only for our problem not to be resolved. Less than a year later, our car is in the shop for the exact same issue. This time however, we are being charged $400 less to have it done correctly. I also have a couple friends who have gotten ripped off buying cars off their lot too. This is not an honest mechanic, these are con artist.

They are professional and reasonably priced. Tell them what you want and they do it,Trusted for years in the local community, full recommendation.

Where as muffler man on 28th by the mall had my car for a week and did not fix it, also forgot to put two major parts back in my car that Westside Garage made me aware of. I decided to read the reviews and saw how trustworthy and honest they were and wanted to give them a shot, I’m glad I did! I’d definitely come back here again when my car needs repair.

Eron Cayedito: The owner was clearly proud of the fact that he's the 3rd generation of operators! They have me the best price quote of the 3 garages that I consulted and met their quote! Complete suspension overhaul (with the parts I bought) and 100k maintenance. 2 weeks after and I'm very pleased with the results. Bare bones, blue collar atmosphere but they clearly know what they're doing. Highly recommend.

Joe Mead: Absolutely amazing customer service and service . When those super cold days last week hot, my starter went out . The guy who takes all the calls (Ken?) was super nice . They were able to get my car in the day it broke down! Normally I have to wait 10-12 days for other mechanics to even look at it . Was fixed within 2 days of my phone call .They showed me my old part , along with the new. I was able to talk to the me mechanic who was the one who fixed it , was able to ask if he noticed anything else that caught his eye that might need attention. They kept saying “ if it was my car, I would..” they actually ended up saving me money because of their honesty . Hats off to the crew there. To me I would rather pay a little more for my car to be fixed asap. Instead it was less than I expected and it was done faster than any car shop I have dealt with in the past 15 years. Oliver: I went in because I needed my EV battery looked at on my 2nd Gen Prius. They did an inspection on other parts of my car as part of looking at the battery and was not something I asked them to do. I knew it would be expensive to replace the battery but was hoping to have the battery serviced instead which they did not tell me till I got there that they will not service the battery, only replace it, despite me putting it in the work notes. When they gave me the list of everything else that was wrong with my car, the bill came up to way more than I paid for it in the first place and it seemed like the prices they gave me were inflated quite a bit. They wanted $60.84 just to change my air filter which really isn't that hard to do. Just to have my car looked at cost me $272.97.Service:Vehicle safety inspection

Chase Cain: Was charged $730 for an oil change and spark plug replacement. Started by calling ahead and was told on the phone that if i got the car towed in before they open on Monday that it would be seen first thing as the car wouldn’t start and I need it to drive my sister to class, go to my own classes, and get to work. When I brought the car in and handed over the keys they said it would probably not get seen today but they would call me with an update. I had to call myself a few minutes before they closed to ask if anything had happened only to hear that they “got the car in but it wouldn’t start” which was literally the one reason I brought the car. I was then told that since they closed soon they wouldn’t get anything figured out that day but would call me tomorrow before lunch which I was okay with. The next day I waited again until around 4:15pm then called just to see if anything had happened and got transferred eventually to Eric who I assume is the head mechanic? It wasn’t really explained but the guy talked my ear off for about 20 minutes and pretty much explained how an entire car worked without actually getting to the crux of it which was that they cleaned the spark plugs off and it started so they’re going to put new spark plugs in and change the oil. It could have been said in 15 seconds but he said he really wanted to find some more things wrong with it because he didn’t think that was the real problem. Sent me the estimate and it was $340 for the “good” spark plugs, $260 just for figuring out I needed new spark plugs, $100 for an oil change and $30 for “miscellaneous shop charges”. Lisa Galdis: I have been taking my car to Chuck's Auto for almost 25 years. He has always been honest, upfront and let's me know what he would do if it was his own vehicle. They ALWAYS call you prior to performing any of the work and give you an estimate of the charges. They will also help you prioritize things in order of importance if the cost exceeds what you want/can spend at that time. Elissa is wonderful and has offered in the past to run my husband up to work in lieu of him walking since his employer is close to downtown. I would highly recommend them!
Lydia O'Neil: I called Chuck's to have a simple ten minute repair done, it was literally putting a bolt on my car--that's it. The woman who answered the phone was incredibly rude, she refused to give me any options as to when I could get the work done and since they don't take appointments told me she couldn't get me in for a week. When I asked if there was anyway I could possibly drop off my car first thing in the morning or right before they closed (since I live in the area and could walk back to work) the next day so that I could get my car in their line, she told me no, too bad, take Friday or nothing. There was no options and they were not willing to help me, period. I started to ask her another question and she told me to take my car somewhere else and hung up on me. There are several car repair shops in the Midtown area, not to mention so many others in GR, this woman from Chucks is not professional, rude and not willing to help in any way, shape or form so I don't know why anyone would want to take their car here---If this is how they treat prospective customers it really makes me wonder how trustworthy their mechanics are---I wouldn't trust them with my car and I am going to take her advice and take my business elsewhere.

Jack Jack: Got my brakes and rotors done here. Price is very reasonable and they do it quickly! I never leave a review for mechanics as my emotions get the best of me after a costly repair. But this place was the best price and service overall. I highly recommend to give this place a call if your considering getting your car repaired.
Adam Rodts: Excellent communication, customer service and efficient! Happened to break down in Grand Rapids and had completely demolished my radiator. I barely know anybody here but heard from a friend that they and their family have taken their vehicles here and have always had great luck. I also agree and am honestly shocked at how quickly a turnaround there was! From identifying the problem to having the car fixed was under 24 hours. Everyone was extremely polite and they even were able to get the radiator cheaper than originally thought. I know thats not always a guarantee but it's always nice to know people are looking out for you! Anyways, if I didn't live 2 hours away this would be where I go from here on! Bri: I came to Aleman’s as a second opinion; I went to a completely different mechanic at a completely different auto repair shop (in my local town) and I called Aleman’s and told them what I was advised and what the other mechanic found during their “inspection”, and my mechanic at Aleman’s not only stated that he could get this very expensive fix done for me in one day (I have a toddler and my vehicle is my only means of transportation) but he also advised that he would do it for a better price than the other 10 shops I called could give me. I brought my car in the night before and it was the first vehicle worked on the next morning. When my mechanic at Aleman’s was getting ready to change out the parts and he called advising in his experience what the issue I was originally advised was not going to fix the problem, that in his experience it was “xyz”. I couldn’t be more grateful for his experience, expertise and his transparency with me regarding the issue with my vehicle. Not only does my vehicle drive the way it should, but also by him being a very honest and trustworthy mechanic, he saved me over $700. Needless to say, I will NEVER go to any other auto shop.Please consider them for all your needs, I promise you that you will be taken care of, not to mention their team is very friendly and knowledgeable. Omotayo Ajileye: I took my car for repair because it was making loud sound. They told me it was the converter that needs replacement which they replaced and I was charged $620. I went to pick the car and there was no change in the loud sound that I complained about initially. The Manager then told me the loud sound was probably not the converter problem and acknowledged it was his fault that he could have diagnosed the car before assuming it was a converter issue. I asked them what they could do for me because I can't spend $620 for nothing and he said he will explain the issue with the owner and he will give me a call. I waited for days for the owner to call me and they kept promising he will until I went to the shop and refused to leave. The owner called me on my phone with a hidden number, he made a false claim about the issue and harassed me to leave his shop or he will charge me for trespassing. I was so embarrassed and surprised that people who provide service to the public would behave like that. I even suggested they remove their converter from my car and refund my money but he said they won't do that. I had to just leave and let their conscience judge because that attitude of the owner was a dubious one. Why did they refuse to give me his number and why did he call me with an hidden number if he has nothing to hide. The Manager named Ken was nicer because he took responsibility for his fault but the owner only cares about money and was very rude.
