A&A: Staff service is hit and miss, quite often they don't give off a friendly vibe even if you're not demanding, also one of the times during the pandemic with the masks and the screen it can be hard to hear but they made it seem like it's the customer's problem and if you speak any louder it's as if you offended them...so odd.Good but not great selection of shoes overall.

It's a quiet building with shoes and boots lining the walls. There is also a corner filled with Smartwool socks of all kinds as well as insoles. They have a good selection of women's, men's, and kids footwear.Ethan was the associate who helped me out. He seemed very knowledgeable about the boots I was asking about and helped me find a good quality pair that fit just right.I left happy with two pairs of new socks and a new pair of Teva boots for work! Great place with great products, and a great staff.

Michelle Claybaugh: Bought New Balance shoes that the inserts come out of. I have plantar fasciitis and needed to put my own inserts in. I was told only shoe stores like Mieras could sell shoes where the inserts come out. I have found them since then, for half the price, at JC Penny's, Famous Footwear and Kohls. At the same time I purchased sandals for a pretty penny. I bought them in August right before school started. They hurt my feet. I wore them once. I just tried to return them. They refused to take them back. They were expensive and the gentleman said I could donate them and he would give me half off a pair of shoes, if I wanted to buy a new pair of shoes. I told him I didn't come in to spend money. I came to return shoes that were expensive and hurt my feet. He also said they couldn't take sandals back in the winter. I won't spend that kind of money on shoes again, or buy from Mieras Family Shoes.

La Chynah Boricua: Customer Service has drastically changed. We've been customers for many years now through the Steelcase program and today was so disappointed with how we were treated. Young blonde girl refused to look up work shoes and at one point said they were discontinued and wouldn't even call the other store. I told her they were on the website and she said if she ordered them there would be a delay because of back orders. I could tell she didn't want to help us so I told her we would just have to drive down to the store at 44th st. We went to the store on 44th st and the lady there was so sweet and helpful and guess what they did have the shoes and are not discontinued as stated at the Leonard st store. So disappointed that customer service was not the same as I'm used to..

One sales guy there, very friendly, very hands on, willing to even ship to us if that would've been the case. I highly recommend them to people looking for good shoes or boots. Nathan Molette: Salesman told me timberlands have a 2 year warranty just to sell me $300 boots. Now they say they don't warranty anything. They lasted 9 months before the bottoms blew out, and a year before the bottoms fell right off. Don't recommend timberlands and highly caution you to stay away from Mieras, or call them out on their BS!

I told her I will be calling corporate which I did and they will be handling this situation. We are black Americans she was a Caucasian American I don’t want to say that this was a racism issue, but it was given racism to us.

Nancy Ayers: I had a great experience with VanHoeks Shoes today. I took my 93 year old father there looking for replacement athletic shoes. My Dad was convinced he was a size 12, the sales person measured his feet and said he was wearing shoes 1.5 sizes too long! He needed WW to accommodate the various toe issues.The New Balance shoes are more stable ( used by a local rehab facility) and will help him walk more confidently. I saw a difference immediately. Stu Cole: I needed a pair of shoes for work. I have an extra wide foot. I went to VanHoecks for two distinct reasons.1. The website said they carried an inventory of wide sizes2. I wanted the assistance of a professional.I walked into the store. I let the gentleman know I was looking for a pair of brown shoes for work which would be comfortable for walking. He measured my feet. Came out with a pair of Dunhams. Left foot fit perfect. Right foot was digging into my Achilles tendon a tad. He took them in the back and made an adjustment. Tried them on again. Fit perfect. Paid for said shoes and left.I couldn't have been in the store 15 minutes. If I would have gone to Walmart, Meijer, Shoe Carnival, etc., I could have saved a couple of bucks. But I would have been in the store 45 minutes or more, possibly had to go to a different store to find extra wide, and no adjustments made so I'd be walking around at work with uncomfortable shoes.So glad I went here and worked with a courteous professional. Would definitely recommend this place.

Cindy Lewis: Skinny feet and happy! I have very narrow hard to fit feet. SS-superslim/4A heel. Previously I only bought shoes at 1 store (Naturalizer by Zombo) which is out of business. I've been panicked unable to find a place to buy shoes when this store was recommended to me. So happy. They carry a variety of shoe styles and know how to fit my feet. I even came back with a shoe and they adjusted the shoe for comfort. Personal service with long-time fit experts. If you have difficult feet and need personal service, I highly recommend them.
Mike Rundhaug: Extremely poor customer service at VanHoeks Footwear. Unfortunately, this is not a store I would ever recommend visiting due to the fact that the customer service is horrible. Last Friday afternoon, October 20th, I sent my 70 year old mom here to get shoes because she has a wide width and has a hard time finding shoes. The store employee first told her she had orthotics from hell, because they were thick. These orthotics were purchased from a local business who supplies orthotics for sports teams all over the United States. My mom also said she wanted "stylish shoes" and not something that looks like an old lady and was told "you have to come to grip with the fact that you can either have comfort or style but not but you can't have style AND orthotics. The only shoes that this store carries are dated and old lady looking shoes. As someone who supports local business and appreciates companies that provide excellent customer service I was extremely disappointed to hear how they treat a new customer. My parents were both so disappointed in this experience that they proceeded to tell me the whole story and I felt it was worth sharing with others. The store employee also told them "you'll be back because we are the ONLY story in Grand Rapids that sells wide shoes". I can assure you, this will never happen because my mom will just purchase shoes online.

I found sketches warehouse and they had what I wanted, got there couldn't find them, getting ready to leave I thought I'd ask to verify my size. Well I got a real nice gal at checkout and she verified my size then I showed her what I was looking for, immediately she found 2 pair which I bought one. Thanks sketches, I didn't get the girls name she is thin with long brown hair, give her a raise, she helped others that day too.
Nicholas Zandstra: This is the first shoe shop where I felt like I was helped by an expert. Gave the worker an idea of what I was looking for and she showed me right to a pair ive been wearing for months and I still love them. Ill be going back when this pair wear out.

jimmy de boer: A great store all around if you are interested in a comfortable walk and more. The store manager on my visit there went above and beyond by answering my questions. Now I am walking in a very comfortable pair of shoes. A repeat visit is in store for me when needing another pair of shoes.

Nancy Scaglione: I went to my local Skechers Outlet store in St Augustine, FL and was told "their policy" was to NOT request sneakers outside state lines. I then called Michigan and asked if this was the case in their store as well? I was informed that was NOT the policy and that all stores can ship across state lines. The manager in Michigan, Hope, stepped right in and quickly took care of my situation. Hope made numerous phone calls to insure that I received the sneakers I requested.My issues:1. I was told by the employee in St Augustine, after going into the back of the store, that he called his manager and she said she couldn't do it. This turned out to be not true. According to the St Augustine manager the employee never called her.2. After numerously telling the employee that I needed a wide width, he order the standard B width. Thank goodness Hope was there in Michigan, across the country, to catch that mistake. Hope called me and is sending me the correct size and width I need.Thank you Hope! It's nice to know that some people understand the concept of "customer service."After being told that sneakers could not be shipped across state lines, from the outlet store in St Augustine, Florida, Hope really came through for me. She was able to manage the situation and ship sneakers from Michigan to my home state of Florida. Hope went above and beyond and made sure that I walked away from this situation with a positive experience.

Gretchen Soechting-McGuire: It’s abundantly clear that the sales staff here are on commission- two young women literally RACED- I mean running and yelling through the aisles- to retrieve my husband’s size for a fitting (and not because they were in such a hurry to be helpful). The guy who brought my size stood over me the entire time I tried on shoes while offering no feedback or additional help. It was an awkward and frankly uncomfortable experience that gave the strong impression he was hovering lest I walk off and lose him credit for the sale. When I came back a few days later to make a return, his immediate response was to ask if I was sure I wouldn’t rather make an exchange. Ultimately, I blame upper management for fostering such a blatant culture of up-selling and incentivizing on sales alone. I’m sure these employees are just trying to maximize their income (who wouldn’t?), but I felt that I literally only received “service” to be pushed into buying something. I found all the salespeople to be super unprofessional and pushy and will never shop with this company again.
Brett Heppler: Not enough employees to handle customers’ shoe requests. Each box only has one shoe, so you have to ask for assistance from an employee that is not around or too busy. Finally got the guy to bring out the other shoe and then they brought it all the way to the front counter, we were hoping to try on both shoes before we buy. Nice selection though. To the next shoe store we go!

mitch damstra: I would have reviewed this store highly in the past as I have shopped here for years. I had enjoyed supporting a local business like this one. Unfortunately, this is not the case anymore. I made a return and they said all money would be put back on my card. When the money was not returned to my card and I brought it up to them and they claimed their books showed they gave me the cash back at the time of return (they 100% did not) and there was nothing they could do. It’s not about the money, it’s about good business and customer service. To “steal” a good paying life long customers money and tell them there is nothing they can do is about as bad as it gets. Please be better Reynolds and Sons!
