I wish they were around when my daughter was a baby!Lansing location isn't as big or nice as the Okemos one, but that could be said of many places.Probably won't go to this location again if I don't really need to. Very unpleasant staff. I plan to make the drive to Okemos from now on.

They two girls were sitting on their phone and weren’t doing anything. I asked if they could make an exception and they said no. And I asked if I could borrow a tote to use since I would have to go buy one and they said they can’t do anything. Kinda frustrating when you’re in an empty store refusing to help a customer. I’ll find somewhere else to go in the future.

Cori M-H: Someone higher up from Once Upon a Child needs to visit this store in Saginaw Hwy. the lady who is in her 60-70’s with a pixie cut was extremely rude at the buy counter. I’ve never dropped things off before and I simply asked “do I just leave my bin here?” She replied “Um NO. You have to sign in. Have you ever done this before?” I simply replied “no it’s my first time. :) “ afterwords I came to pick up my bin and she just looked at me like she was very irritated and said “Can I help you with something?” I just said “I came to pick up my offer and bin” she was very blunt and almost as if she was rolling her eyes at my ignorance. “You can do that at the checkout right there.” While pointing.I am not one to make a scene and point out her terrible attitude, but I do know actions speak louder than words.I will never buy nor sell my items at this location again.Okemos location was much more friendly with even better items. I’m sure they would have given me a more fair offer for my items as well.I think the other workers were stressed by this woman as well because of their reactions and demeanor. This woman does not seem happy to work there and maybe someone in the establishment should visit and possibly relieve her of the task of working there.

Whitney: Things have to be in a “sturdy plastic tote with a lid”. If they are in a box (closed box) or laundry basket, they won’t even look at them and they will turn you away

Terry Yancer: Bring very nice clothes with the tags still on them all name brand and they turn you away because there's a crack in the lid of your tote. Come back the following day without a cracked lid and they tell you their counter is closed. I have returned multiple times to this counter closed while there is not a single individual in the store and they were sitting there playing on their phones unwilling to help

ann smith: I took in a bassinet to them and they told me it was recalled and they couldn’t buy it. I had bought it only 2 months earlier on Amazon and it’s still sold on Amazon. In the course of telling me it was recalled they made me feel negligent and they told me I should have been checking recalls so that I didn’t buy recalled items and then proceeded to act as if I had deliberately tried to sell a recall product. Needless to say I was upset. I called fisher price and explained my concerns and I gave them the info from my bassinet. They informed me it was NOT part of the recall and assured me it was a current and safe product. I returned to the store and informed them what I learned from fisher price. They then told me they followed guidelines of the consumer products safety and my bassinet was on the web site as recalled. She even said a picture of my bassinet was on there, it was not. I checked it out, and my bassinet was NOT on the website nor was it recalled as they still insisted. I asked to see their list and they told me their boss is the one who says what products are recalled, that they are given a list. Not a single one could provide said list!!I asked the bosses name so that I could contact her, they refused to provide it. I did however report it to fisher price because they wanted to know who would be spreading false rumors of their products when the bassinet I had brought in was indeed safe and a current product. I happily gave them the name of the store so that they can properly educate the staff.Overall, I am very upset because these ladies made me feel not only as a negligent parent but they also implied I was trying to sell something illegal.I would highly suggest that the owners of this store educate their workers better because it’s clear to me that the staff knows nothing! And figure out what truly is recalled and what is not. If you are in the business of buying and selling baby items you need to know what your talking about.It easily could go the opposite way and they buy a recalled product and sell to a parent since they obviously do not know how to look up products properly for recalls.

I would say I think they are slightly understaffed and the buy counter has been closed every time I have gone over the last couple months it seems to be starting to affect the inventory as. I was so surprised to find them limited on winter items. Still a great option for buying clothes, shoes, toys and books.

Jordyn Avery Blackburn: They have a good selection of clothes although some of it can be a little pricey for a secondhand shop. As far as their buy-counter goes, it's not worth it, I brought an entire tote of newborn-3 month clothes, everything was folded neatly and separated by size in different bags within the tote with a sticky note saying exactly how much of what was in each bag with their sizes, they took a teddy bear swaddle worth at least $20 and a single onesie worth about $5 and gave us $2, don't waste your time trying to sell them clothes.

AAron Wood: The senile old hag working counter today has got to be the rudest spinster I've ever had the displeasure of talking to. What an absolute horrible person. I really hope you don't have kids or grandkids. If you do I'd be embarrassed for your family. I can't imagine having such a Karen working for a company involved with children's items. From what it looks like this is a common occurrence from the reviews. Save the time and go to the Okemos location at least you'll be treated with respect. Will never come back to this location and will definitely will tell every parent I know to do the same.

I’m so disappointed and upset & y’all are lucky I had my daughter with me. The used clothes are nicer than these women working here.

V F: Bad customer service. I took in a bin of clothes and was told i had to come back the next day because the buy counter was closed.. Wasnt open the next day. I went back a few days later with the same bin then the same girl told me they had to be in a tote with a lid..like you couldn't have told me this when you saw the bin the day before? Then the woman at the buy counter was rude and I guess she couldn't hear me through my mask because she yelled WHAT every time I spoke in a really annoyed demeanor. She was really rude and short with me. She was older so she must have some type of hearing problem, but I don't even let my child speak to me like this. I took in a variety of jackets, onsies, shoes, sandalds, bibs, and a brand new netted carseat cover for the summertime to keep bugs away since it's May and getting really nice out. They didn't accept one thing. They said they have too many onsies and dont need anything under 18mo, but my items were from nb-2T.. I asked about the other items and they just said "oh we wouldn't buy those" All of my items were brand new or worn maybe once because my daughter had a ton of clothes when she was born. Waste of time. Very annoyed with their behavior and laziness.

The owner, Lynn was very knowledgeable and made my decision to cloth diaper less stressful. I'm also taking advantage of their newborn diaper rental which is great because I didn't have to purchase a full set of diapers that I could only use for a few months.

At first glance, it can seem a little pricy, but every item is very high quality and there is such a wide range of items to fit any budget, as well as great sales. The staff and especially the owner are so very helpful and offer a wealth of information and support (eg babywearing, cloth diapering, etc!) The store also hosts various playgroups and classes (some for free!) and buy/sell events that foster a real sense of community for new parents. This is such a fantastic store, but is so much more than just a store; you won't be disappointed!

Merry Stanford: You can count on Carter's for high quality clothing for young children and babies. I found a lovely, good quality jacket and legging set for my nearly one-year-old granddaughter for less than $15 on sale! They also carry a small assortment of unique toys. And they are connected side-by-side with their subsidiary, OshKosh , so you can buy for all the children in your life. They have curbside pickup if you don't want to browse, but staff are wearing masks and the store is large enough that you can easily avoid other customers. I felt completely safe and well-served as a customer.

And a lot of items rang up for for different prices than were listed on the site. So I ordered some items online and went to pick them up at the store, so I could get the better price. And then they sent me home with the wrong bag (probably should have checked the bag before driving home).By the end of it all, it took me three trips back and forth to the store to get what I wanted. I should’ve ordered from home - I actually could’ve gotten another pair of pants with the extra money I spent on gas. Get it together, people. Whoever’s running the site, whoever’s doing inventory at this location, whoever. Hhhhhhh

Whitney: Frustrated that they are the only once upon a child I’ve been to that requires an appointment. The west lansing one is a walk in, but they require your items in a brand new plastic tote with a lid (I’m not going out to buy a brand new plastic tote for used clothes, a laundry hamper works more than fine). This one doesn’t require the brand new tote, but you have to make an appointment a week in advance. I’m trying to sell my daughters old clothes before i move out of state, i work full time (literally during your business hours, I’m off on weekends). It’s very inconvenient and very inconsiderate in my opinion. It’s frustrating that there is literally no good place to sell your old children’s clothes in this town. I understand being short staffed, but i can’t believe it’s THAT short staffed on this side of town vs the west side.

emily morse: Came in today for the $10 fill a bag for maternity clothes, I was then told about infants 0-12 month clothing also being $10 to fill a bag and ended up saving over $900 total!! I’m expecting twins so this was a life saver!! The staff here is amazing and very patient with my two little girls I had with me as well !! They even helped me take the bags out to my van to load it up. Will definitely be back!! Thank you for such a great experience!!

My husband and I were treated very rudely by the cashier at checkout. She was there Tuesday, December 20th at 9 AM. I have worked in retail management for 20 years, and if you don't want to work the holidays get out of retail. She did not show me the receipt or ask me if I wanted the receipt in my purse. We're from Reno, NV spending money in your state - Be Nice!! This was on Saginaw in case the manager reads this review.
