McLaren Greater Lansing - Emergency Department: what do users think?
BtosComfy Sox: I’ve been here for about 7 hours, been forgotten about three times. Was given one bag of fluids 4 hours ago and was told I can’t have water or anything until a doctor sees me. Hopefully it isn’t another 7 hours because I’m already dehydrated and in pain.
Craig voss: More people on their phones and not looking after patients. Talking to co workers and Laughing without checking in on patients. Terrible place to be. Don't recommend
William Babcock: Brought my son in the ER this morning for history of kidney stones and no compassion what so ever. We certainly miss the old faster ER before they moved to this new location. My son laid in pain in a room by ourselves while hearing nurses laughing outside. I believe sparrow is looking much better. Update: after them drawing blood we were asked to go back to the waiting room while my son was on the floor. Nice I’ll never come here again that’s for sure. When asked why he can’t have a room or a bed in the hallway they replied they were busy. No they were not!!
Daniel Goodman: Super great staff who are very friendly and knowledgeable.
Orion Smith: Let me just say I sat in the er with fluid covering half of my right lung. Not being able to breathe properly, in pain. I arrived around 3pm, and it's now 10:30 pm. Nurses give me attitude for just asking for an update.
Amanda: My mother was brought in via ambulance with cardiac issues. She's 71 years old and also has diabetes. She arrived at 12:30 with roughly 10 people in the waiting room. By 1:30 w we were told she was being admitted and would have a heart catheterization in the morning with possible stents. At 7pm she was still in an ER room with no idea of when she would get a room. No pillow, no blanket, no water, nothing. Left in a room. She got up to go to the bathroom and had a nurse disconnect her monitors but they left her unmonitored when she came back. I, her daughter, hooked her back up!!! They didn't even check on her. This is after they told her that when she gets stressed that her arteries narrow and her heart is deprived of blood. Logically wouldn't it make sense to keep her relaxed?? I spoke with the doctor at 2:30 and he said it would be an hour before she had a room. Then at 8:30 still no room??? I will drive my family in the farthest direction from McLaren from here forward. Update: She never got a room and slept in the ER room and told they'd do her stents and catheterization in the morning after 7am. As of 8:30am, we still don't have a time for her surgery.
Greg Marshall: Great place, made sure I knew what was going on and got me sorted out
Al Conrad: They have a AWESOME team of social workers in their ER. John and Nichol are very direct and easy to work with. They make my time spent there and absolute pleasure. Keep up the good work!
Edward Dixon: This hospital is nice looking. The security at the ER is a total joke. The officer stayed in his phone until someone came in to get checked. Then, the procedure to get back in after you get back to a bay needs to be rethinked cause you have family members waiting to be escorted back in by another security officer that takes forever to get up to do that job. Maybe more man power is needed. No family member should have to wait that long to get back to their loved ones. Overall, the registration staff are nice. The nurses are professional, but there seems to be a lack of communication from the ER staff and doctors to the patient and family. The hospital administration and/or board needs to come up with improvements on these simple things. The security is mostly halfway decent, with a few exceptions, and the appearance is not professional for a hospital as they play on their phones in the ER lobby.
Leigh Walker: Absolutely thee best care I have ever seen. Thank you!!!
Jennifer LeFevre: I was in the ER for over 12 hours. Moved from spot to spot because they wouldn’t do anything without results from tests. No matter how bad I think Sparrow ER is. This one is worse.
Zach Tate: Don’t bother. I don’t know how they allow an ER like this to stay open. We waited for 5+ hours with a newborn waiting to be seen. Shut this place down until you have the staff to run it, otherwise it’s a safety issue making people wait 8 hours just to be seen.
Forever & Always: Go to sparrow. Unless u like sitting in a public waiting room the whole time before and after you are evaluated because after u get called back and get checked they send u right back out to wait and see what's next for hours.
K Kennedy: I checked into McLaren 7 hours ago, now I'm sitting in the ER waiting room for another hour. I have not been seen, have not had any tests done (I have herniated discs and fell recently).Just don't come here. The workers here literally do not care about your comfort, safety, or health.
Josh K.: What the rest of em said...
Liza Wethy: On October 11, I was in a car accident where someone hit me so hard my sternum was fractured and displaced. When this happened I was taken to Sparrow and had horrendous care (except for 2 nurses).Unfortunately, 3 weeks later while home recovering I caught a bug or had a reaction to my medicines that made me throw up. Throwing up with a broken, displaced sternum is beyond excruciating. Because of the pain, and other symptoms I was having (confusion, convulsions etc) I feared my fracture might be worse or that something was really wrong with my body and so did my family. They called 911 and I was taken my ambulance to McLaren. I refused to go to Sparrow again. My husband and I waited 7 hours in the waiting room - and while the pain was awful the whole time - they did do their best to prioritize patients by severity and the ER was completely packed out. I know they were dealing with trying to save peoples lives, and while the pain seemed unbearable, I kept reminding myself it could be worse and I could be fighting for my life. Our check in nurse was absolutely amazing and checked on me regularly and made sure to keep all patients updated on what was happening. Even though we did wait in the ER nurses came out as they could to prioritize CT scans and X-rays, including mine.Once I was taken back, the nurses and Dr. were amazing. My Dr. especially. I will never forget her - Dr. Christine Perry Ockerman. The level of care we received from her, I’m not sure I’ve ever experienced in my life. She was so incredibly thorough and caring. She was visibly upset with the prior lack of care I was receiving (both from Sparrow and my dr). She showed my husband and I my ct scans for the first time and it broke our hearts, because I had been suffering for almost 3 weeks with a horrendous break / displacement and a second fracture we knew nothing about. They took care of me 1000x better than when I was brought into the trauma unit at Sparrow for my car accident. Sparrow treated me like an annoyance, McLaren treated me like family and I won’t forget my experience that night and either will my husband.
Cathy Rodriguez: 5 hours and 20 minutes, nothing done. 88 year old patient, vomiting, severe pain and still ignored. New hospital, and service continues to go down hill. This hospital used to be a good hospital. Humans are treated like animals and the staff is rude, condescending and have zero compassion. Leave an elderly lady sitting in a wheel chair, refused a bed after it took them an hour to try and get blood. This is no way to treat humans.
Dave House: Rarely do I leave a review; however, I am prompted because of the of the horror stories I hear about emergency room treatments. I brought my wife to McClarin with a lot of apprehension. Our experience proved to be a five star all around. The staff was caring and provided excellent treatment in a timely fashion. We owe them our gratitude.
Samantha Norris: I don’t write reviews unless I’ve had a good experience or an absolutely terrible one, this trip to the ER was a complete disaster. The staff were great but whatever the issue was for er dept getting people seen was beyond excusable. There was someone who had been there since 11am and it was 10pm when they got called back. I left after 5 hours for chest pains, I’d rather sit in my house and feel horrible and die than sit there and wait for that long. Before I asked them to remove my port I asked how long it would be and they told me I still had another 6-8 patients in front of me.My suggestion is just go to sparrow
Sandy Bergeron: People were still waiting after 5 hours just to get checked in! Crazy
Carter Vela: broke my ankle and proceeded to wait 5 hours in the ER. place is a joke. you’re a hospital for god sake

Sparrow Hospital St. Lawrence Campus: what do users think?
Hal Geiger: I took some time to think about posting this and decided to go ahead. The volunteers at the front desk were fantastic, my issue is with the care I got after my surgery.I had outpatient surgery here, this is not my first or last surgery.I was having trouble afterwards with waking up. The issues were:1. My blood sugar& 2. The pain I was in.I was certainly in no shape to get home, I had reached the point where I was extremely nauseous from the fact my blood sugar was low. I know that at this point, I need something quickly before it goes downhill. I WAS MISERABLE.I had a long ride home down bumpy country roads, and again, the only "help" they gave me was minimal. It was HORRID. I felt every bump in the road, I was close go vomiting several times, and I think I might have even lost consciousness because there is a missing piece in my memory. It was very evident they did not care what state I was in, they wanted to go home. As a nurse/medical "professional" their purpose is to help relieve the suffering of their patients. They did not do that.
Ruth Gibbs: I'm 76 years old and have been to the hospital MANY MANY times. My experience last Thursday was the ABSOLUTE BEST EVER. The Staff is OUTSTANDING. Dr. Sterling got my surgery done and had me on my way home hours before I expected. I would HIGHLY recommend going to the St. Lawrence campus for any treatment. GOD BLESS EVERYONE who had a part of my care
Jeff Allshouse: Awesome
Carla Hutchens: Don’t get tested here wait is way to long
Karen Robbins: Sparrow has brought me back from dead more than once. I trust them anytime
Stephanie Jordan: Extremely nice staff, quick in and out
Viola Owens: Good staff
Tootie Lacey: I came in at 10pm and its almost 5am in the morning for a stomach ache.one of the worst time management hospital I ever seen. Also the staff is no where to be found.what is the mission here?
Jodi Grandy: Worst wait ever! When youre in pain and know something is seriously wrong and waiting in an uncomfortable chair in pain for 3 hours yet people who came in long after you are being treated before you! Something is seriously wrong here!
Janelle Stokes: My eight year old daughter was dragged by a horse this past Saturday and I brought her in to get checked out. The staff was absolutely amazing! They took the time to listen to my daughter's and my concerns and made it as painless as possible to check my daughter's injuries out. They took the time to explain everything to my daughter and calmed her fears. I cannot express enough thanks to the staff for the care they provided!
Sid Worthington: Haven't,it a mental health, and it's just a close to go to Sparrow main.
pat izzo: My experience here has always been positive.
Emily Jarvis: Great psych ward...good food. Pre order your meals from the menu.
Leslie Mitchell: Great care and kindness.
Tim Davis: Clean nice new waiting room
Emily Brennan: Great experience every time. The ER has such a short wait!
Tony Sabo: 4 plus hours waiting in an almost empty waiting room. I'm only giving it three stars because of the wait and how unorganized it felt. Once I got back to see everyone, they were great.
MOUNTAIN: I have told my Family Doctor to put on my record, that I seriously do not want to go the Saint Lawrence Hospital for any reason. Yes, I know that they are close to my home. I hve already gone there many times for Different reasons. I can't say anything good about the experience. The environment, the employees, the cafeteria, etc :-( All I know for sure is I don't want to DIE THERE. I DON'T CARE IF I DIE IN THE no in route to another Hospital. That suits me just fine. I have paid my dues at Saint Lawrence... I 'm finished. I wish that they would demolish the whole thing AND stat Fresh. I wish that Sparrow would wake up and see this. REALTY ! I'm sorry... No Recommendations
Dr. Haider: To much wait. You should improve your service.
Wendy Chatman: Worst hospital, still sitting here for 3 hrs waiting to be seen and told I'm not an emergency. Second time here in 3 days, no nurse checked on Me, I'm in a small cubby hole bash hurting more. This is bad place to go. Wouldn't give them any stars
Meaghan Meister: Worst "hospital" EVER along with Sparrow main campus! Never again will I step foot in either! Go to McLaren, they actually care! 😡
