James Wehagen: They have a reasonable selection of items, for their rather small neighborhood convenience store. You can pick up the things that a typical household would need at a moments notice. Plus they sell alcohol and cigarettes. They even cashed a small check that I received in the mail from the Lansing Housing Authority. You should be aware, this is a neighborhood convenience store so, prices are a bit higher. That understood, the folks that work there are friendly enough. And I could see how it might be a little difficult for someone using a wheelchair, or mobility device such as my walker, may have trouble maneuvering about the place, though it is accessible for both. It is so close to my apartment that I do my fair share of shopping there. All in all, I gave an honest four (4) star rating to the little store.
Robert Reid: Called to ask about a item. Have never been treated so ride by an employee while trying to find out information about a product. Will never go to this establishment and will make sure to let all my friends know how shabbily they treat you here. If I could give it a zero Star I would.

Kevin Lucas: I'd just like to say thank you to the folks who run Halal Meat's and Groceries. They're in the plaza across from Strange Matter and have been great helping me through the pandemic. If you need dried goods--rice, beans, flour, etc. I'd highly recommend them. Just go to their back door and ask for what you need. Updated 2023-05: they're open for in store shopping again.

Andrew Rushlow: So I was told to check this place out by a friend of mine. I popped in and the selection was fun and new for me. BUT the meat selection. I didn’t make a scene and I ended up buying the “ribeye” steaks he sold me but he is selling chuck steaks and selling them as ribeye for the price of ribeye and ripping people off. I will not be coming back to this place

I was greeted by very friendly and knowledgeable manager who had my competitive priced meat order, individually wrapped and ready to go. I was glad to find out the beef meat I purchased was grass fed and came from local farms in Michigan. The store itself is well laid out, very clean and easy to navigate. I am so happy I found this Market with their exceptional quality of meat and very friendly service. I am looking forward to my next visit.

David McCarthy: Refused to accept a bottle return at 8:05pm, almost two hours before they closed. They claimed they were only required to accept bottles during certain hours of the day. Since I had biked there with the bottles, I had no room to buy new containers without simply forfeiting my deposit. This is the kind of customer service we get after giving millions of dollars in public subsidies to a multi-billion dollar corporation.

John S: Too many homeless people just hanging out all day, charging their phones and whatever else they have with them. Used to enjoy sitting down to relax with a cup of coffee but got tired of people wanting to sit at the table with me to charge their phone. The little cafe area used to have a microwave, but due to the homeless population, they took it out. Why won’t management do something about this? I’m sorry these folks are homeless but enough is enough. You can barely enter the store without being accosted for money, cigarettes, food, etc. it’s the same people all day, everyday. The store imposed a 1 hour limit but the people just leave after an hour and come back. Prices are also very high and selection is a bit limited. Produce is the high point of the store for me, it’s fantastic. Sadly I won’t go in anymore bc things are just out of hand.

Darla Dowker Jackson: This place is great for finding nearly everything you need, without that feeling of "embarking on an epic quest, possibly never to be heard from again" feeling of the larger Meijer stores. They also have a great selection of local foods, and often there are weekend days when area vendors have food samples. The downside is that nothing ever goes on sale, and it lacks the wide variety of its larger cohorts. So depending on your shopping needs, this may or may not be a great fit for you.
Jim Lott: Some unusual groceries available but certainly not everything from a normal store. Eat in area looked good but I'll have to try it another day.

I was literally the only one in store for the first few minutes. I looked through the store to see what they had as I've never been to this store before. After finding out I don't meet the cc requirement I went to collect change in my car to buy something small. I even took the item back to where I got it on the shelf. One additional person came into the store while I was in the car. I came back to buy one item, knew where it was so I went to get it. I had 5 quarters in my hand and was taking 2 seconds to make sure it's 1.25 after she finished ringing me up. Before I looked up she said it's 5 quarters like I don't know how to count and grabbed the change in my hand. I left the store with an unwanted plastic bag with one item in it and the cashier looking at me with the angriest face I've seen all day. I really hope that woman has a better day tomorrow.

Noel Foraker: I have mixed feelings about this store. I love the variety this little store has. I love how close it is to my place. I have had an issue with one of the younger men over charging when it's just him in the store. I would purchase the same items almost everytime I come into the store. When the older man is there, it's always the same price. When I would be rung up by one of the younger men, 1 day it will be a $1 more, other days I have caught him charging me $2 more. When I would say something about charging me more for my items, he would say the price went up. But I would go in the very next day, sometimes later that day and get the older man, the price would be back to the lower price. Because of this, I try not to go there and will walk double the distance/time to the other local neighborhood store.

Slade The Great: More often than not closed. The kid who works there just kinda leaves 50% of the time and comes back hours later. Maybe this sounds Karen-y but I live across the street, and will watch him just leave, for like two hours at a time. He’ll come back, and be like, “yeah just in the bathroom for a couple minutes” Bro my window faces your door.Literal standing water in the corner next to one of the coolers, with black stuff floating in it, but.. my standards really aren’t that high, if I’m coming in there. I can ignore enough blatant health code violations, especially with the food, but man, at least show up. It’s the third time this week dude.
